CHAPTER 2: A CRUEL TWIST OF FATE

1006 Words
I woke up to the sound of my aunt's voice, scolding me for leaving the house without permission. I try to sit up, but a wave of dizziness washes over me, forcing me back onto the bed. "Yvonne, how dare you sneak out of the house after I gave you strict instructions not to leave. And added to that, you just had to disgrace me. How dare you claim Alpha Noah is your mate."she spits, her voice venomous. I get up on my elbows, "Aunty he's actually my mate" but she only laughs mockingly at me. " What made you think you are a Luna to an Alpha like Noah? You're nothing but a slave, a piece of property. You'll never be worthy of a mate like Noah King." I feel a surge of anger, but I know better than to lash out at her. Instead, I just sat there, taking her insults and trying to hold back tears. "You're just a disappointment, Yvonne," she continued, her words cutting deep. "You'll never amount to anything. You'll always be nothing but a slave." I feel like I'm dying inside, like my heart is being ripped apart. I know I'll never be good enough for my aunt, for the pack. I'll always be an outcast, a reject. As my aunt turns to leave, I call out to her, my voice barely above a whisper. "Aunt...please..." She turns back to me, a look of disgust on her face. "What do you want, Yvonne?" I took a deep breath, trying to find the courage to ask her the question that had been burning inside me. "Aunt...why did Noah reject me? What did I do wrong?" My aunt laughed, a cold, cruel sound. "You didn't do anything wrong, Yvonne. You're just not good enough. You're a nobody, and nobody deserves mates like Noah King." I feel like I've been punched in the gut, all the air sucked out of me. I'm not good enough. I'll never be good enough. Her words ring in my My aunt is about to walk out but pauses and delivers the news that leaves my world crumbling. "Oh and Yvonne, Noah and Isabella are already preparing for their wedding," my aunt says, a sly smile spreading across her face. "You'll be expected to attend, of course. After all, you're just a slave, and slaves do as they're told." I feel like I've been slapped on the face, my heart literally breaks. Noah and Isabella are getting married? It's too much to bear. My aunt's words cut deep, and I felt a wave of despair wash over me. I'm alone, rejected, and heartbroken. I don't know how I'll ever recover from this. As the days go by, the pack members treat me like trash. They talk among themselves whenever I pass by, and refuse to go near me. My aunt makes my life even more miserable by increasing the number of chores I do, and giving me even less food. I try to hold on, but it's getting harder and harder. I feel like I'm drowning in heartbreak and humiliation. I'm a slave, a piece of property, and I'll never be worthy of love or respect. As I go about my day, I start to feel sick. I'm constantly dizzy and nauseous, and I don't know what's wrong with me. I try to brush it off, attributing it to the recent stress I'm facing, but when the symptoms persist, I know I need to see a healer. I stood before my aunt, trying to sound as innocent as possible. "Aunt, I was wondering if I could take a walk outside? I was thinking of going for a walk to clear my head, Aunt. I've been feeling a bit overwhelmed with the chores and I thought some fresh air would do me good. Plus, I wanted to pick some wildflowers for the house. It would be a nice gesture, don't you think?" My aunt looks up from her sewing, her expression skeptical. "Wildflowers? You think I care about wildflowers? You're a slave, Yvonne. Your job is to serve this household, not to go gallivanting around the countryside picking flowers." I feel a surge of frustration, but I try to keep my cool. "But Aunt, I promise I'll be back soon. I just need some fresh air." My aunt's expression turned cold, her eyes narrowing. "You're not going anywhere, Yvonne. You're always asking to leave the house, always looking for excuses to get out. What are you hiding?" I feel a pang of fear, wondering if my aunt suspects something. But I try to keep my cool, to play it off like I'm just a silly girl who wants to go for a walk. "I'm not hiding anything, Aunt," I said, trying to sound innocent. "I just need some fresh air, that's all." My aunt's expression doesn't change, but I can tell she's not buying it. "No, Yvonne. You're not going anywhere. And that's final." I nod, trying to look obedient, but as soon as my aunt turns back to her sewing, I make a split-second decision. I'll sneak out. I know it's not the smartest thing to do, but I don't have any other choice. I need to see a healer, and I need to do it today. I wait until my aunt is distracted, then I slip out of the house, trying to move as quietly as possible. My heart is racing as I make my way through the village, trying to avoid being seen, hoping the healer can help me. I get there, and she examines me, her face a mask of concern. "Yvonne, I need to ask you something," she says, her voice gentle. "When was your last period?" I think back, trying to remember. "I... I don't know. I've been so stressed out lately, I haven't even thought about it." Her next words would leave my world completely wrecked. The healer looks at me, her expression serious. "Yvonne, I think you might be pregnant."
