I'm consumed by fear as I think about raising Noah's child in Red Creek. After his rejection, I know I'll never be able to show my face in the pack again. Without a family to protect me or allies to turn to, I know staying will only lead to more suffering. I might even get killed.
As I sit in my small room, surrounded by the few belongings I've accumulated over the years, I overcome with memories of the night I met Noah. I close my eyes, and suddenly I'm back there, reliving the moment.
I snuck out of the house, desperate for a taste of freedom. My aunt had gone to sleep, and I knew I had a few hours to myself before she woke up again.
I walked through the village, feeling the cool night air on my skin. The stars were shining brightly above me, and for a moment, I felt like I was a part of something bigger than myself. I felt free.
As I walked, I heard rustling in the bushes. I spin around, my heart racing, and that's when I see him - Noah King, the Alpha's son.
"Hi," he says, flashing me a charming smile. "What are you doing out here all alone?"
I feel a flutter in my chest as I take in his chiseled features. "Just getting some fresh air," I reply, trying to sound nonchalant.
Noah nods, his eyes locked on mine. "I know the feeling," he says. "Sometimes I feel like I need to escape too."
We stood there for a moment, the only sound was the crickets chirping in the background. Then Noah broke the silence.
"Want to walk with me?" he asked, his voice low and husky.
I nodded, feeling a sense of excitement wash over me. We walked together, the silence between us comfortable.
As we walk, Noah asks me questions about myself - what I like to do, what I want to be when I grow up. I'm surprised by how easy it is to talk to him, how much I feel like I can be myself around him.
"It's a shame I never see you around the pack. I have to say, I'm really glad I ran into you," Noah says, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "You're not like the other girls in the pack."
I feel a blush rise to my cheeks as I meet his gaze. "What do you mean?" I ask, my voice barely above a whisper.
Noah smiles, his teeth flashing in the moonlight. "You're different," he says. "You're real."
I feel a flutter in my chest as he takes my hand, his fingers intertwined with mine. He brushes a strand of hair behind my ear and gently cradles my cheek, tilting my head up to meet him.
One look in my eyes was all it took to confirm that I wanted this too. He kissed me sweetly and proceeded to make sweet love to me.
As the night wears on, Noah and I find ourselves in the river, the water sparkling in the moonlight. We sit down on a rock, our legs touching.
"I had a great time tonight," Noah says, his voice low and husky. "Would you like to do it again sometime?"
I nodded, feeling a sense of excitement wash over me. "I'd like that," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper.
Noah smiles, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "Great," he says. "I'll give you my number."
He hands me a piece of paper with his number scrawled on it. I take it, feeling a sense of excitement wash over me.
As I look up at Noah, I feel a sense of connection that I've never felt before. I think that maybe, just maybe, I've found someone special.
But as I come back to the present, I realize that it was all a lie. Noah never intended to call me again, never intended to follow through on his promises. He just wanted one night with me, and then he was done.
I felt a wave of anger wash over me, followed by a sense of sadness. I thought I had found someone special, someone who truly cared about me. But it was all just an illusion.
I shake my head, pushing the memories aside. I need to focus on the present, not dwell on the past. I gather my few belongings and make my way out of the house, determined to leave Red Creek behind.
As I walk through the forest, the darkness seems to swallow me whole. I'm scared, but I know I have to keep moving. I've got to get as far away from Red Creek as possible.
The forest is treacherous, and exhaustion slows my steps. My feet ache, and my legs feel like lead. But I'm determined to keep going, no matter what.
As I walk, I sense danger lurking around every corner. I hear the sound of twigs snapping, and the rustling of leaves. I spin around, my heart racing, but I don't see anything.
Suddenly, a menacing voice growls, "Looks like we've found an easy target."
I spun around, my eyes scanning the darkness. That's when I see them - a pack of rogue wolves, their eyes glowing in the dark.
My heart is racing, and my legs feel like jelly. I try to run, but my feet feel heavy, as if they're rooted to the spot.
The wolves close in, their teeth bared. I'm trapped, and I know I'm in grave danger.
One of the wolves, a massive gray beast, takes a step closer. His eyes are fixed on me, and I can sense his hunger.
I tried to speak, but my voice was barely a whisper. "P-please...don't hurt me."
The wolf sneers, his lips curling up. "You're a long way from home, little one," he growls. "And you're all alone."
I know I'm in trouble. I'm trapped, and I don't know how to escape. All I can do is hope that someone will come and rescue me before it's too late.
