PIERCE'S POV
“You need an heir, someone to carry on your legacy. Our pack needs security. Who’s supposed to lead us when you are gone? You need to find a mate and you need to act fast.”
“Elder Arnold, I know how important this is. You don't have to tell me what to do! I can't mate with anyone just because I need an heir!”
“Alpha Pierce, you clearly have no idea how to handle this, which is why we the elders decided to step in and….”
“How dare you challenge my authority?!” I barked, cutting him off immediately as I felt my wolf rising in anger.
Deciding that I've had enough of this nuisance, I turned my back and was just about to storm out on them before Elder Arnold called from behind me.
“Are you really going to walk out on the elders?”
Without even bothering to turn back I said, “Watch me leave.”
I paced around my chambers frantically pondering the meeting with the elders.
Picking a mate has been a difficult task for me to do and it was quite an issue seeing how the elders hammered on the fact that I needed an heir to lead the pack when I'm gone.
“Dang it!” I stumped my feet on the ground and headed towards the wooden table just by the bed side.
Without hesitation, I picked up the blood drink and gulped it.
“Pff!” I smirked, at least this tastes better than the animal blood that is in circulation. I wouldn't settle for less.
I instantly felt my nerves relaxing a bit as I lay in my bed and fell asleep. Images of this human kept running through my thoughts, it felt like I was in a trance and I couldn't fathom why this was happening.
Her curly blonde hair hung loose on her shoulders as she flashed me the most beautiful and captivating smile.
Her eyes held so much intensity and fire that had the power to draw anyone in and do her bidding. The flowing red gown she wore did no justice in hiding her curvaceous body and glowing skin.
And her scent…. My goodness she wore a fragrance very soft, yet powerful and was capable of swaying any man she wanted just by walking past him.
A sweet floral scent with a hint of jasmine and rose.
She stood staring at me and as I reached out to draw her into my arms and inhale her entirety. I felt a weird figure and it was nothing like the softness that befell my eyes earlier.
Slowly, I opened my eyes and my brows furrowed in a frown as my gaze fell on the figure before me, she wasn't the one who had invaded my dreams earlier.
It was Caramel, the pack’s w***e who had always been obsessed with me.
I instantly pulled away from her as I got a hang of everything that was happening.
“What the heck? How the hell did you even get in here?”
I lashed out in irritation.
“Oh C’’mon, Pierce. Don't be like that, Jordan let me in, I mean, I'm not a stranger,” She said to me as she reached out again to hold my hand.
“Damn it Caramel! Why do you always do this? You show up here unannounced all the time, what do you want with me?” I said to her as I angrily stood up from the bed and headed towards my window.
My eyes darted to see if she would notice the blood drink on the table. “This is not the right time for this, we have to get her out of here now!” My wolf whispered to me.
“Easy now,” I ministered back to my wolf.
My wolf was already getting his peace but sadly it was short-lived cause I immediately felt her hands hug me from behind and my irritation rose again as I cursed under my breath.
“Isn’t it obvious that all I've ever wanted is you? I mean, here I am willing to submit to you in anyway that you want but then why do you keep acting like you don't want this? Why do you keep acting like you don't want me?”
“That's the thing. I’m not acting Caramel, I'm showing you exactly what I feel which is nothing. So get that into your head and get the hell out of my chambers!” I said to her as I put on my robe and stormed out.
Damn it! I cursed. The woman literally gets on my last nerves!
My wolf snapped, “Let's go for a run.”
I raced into the woods swiftly…
The air around brushed over my skin as I leaped onward.
My clothes began to rip off thread by thread and my bones crackled.
Every joint making its’ own sound as I morphed into my wolf.
My giant wolf, blue eyes, grey furs, sharp claws, fearless and confident.
The earth trembles when we sync. ‘Glorious features’, my forefathers would call it. My most trusted companion.
Whenever we felt uneasy a run was our calm in the storm, the second possible way to unburden ourselves.
The grasses on the field part ways as we dash across at speed.
We had not run a long mile into the woods when a strange feeling began to envelop me.
At that instant, my wolf halted in the middle of nowhere.
Flashes of the young woman eroded my thoughts and i began to feel some sort of way that i couldn’t explain.
“What’s this?” I muttered.
Then the voice of my wolf came aloud.
“Mate!”
