Schinx walked into one of the adjoining rooms after his words and Aiden was left to wonder and ponder on the tales. He was reminded of the time he told Schinx that he loved mystical tales. However, he preferred it when shown in movies or read as literary tales. He never imagined that he would be in one. Schinx had said a lot and still, he had some more questions about what he was at the moment and where his part comes in. At this point, he found himself accepting what he was and he wagged his head to shake off the thoughts in a pitiful mode for himself.
He stared at the ceiling throughout the time that Schinx was away and found all reason to believe that his friends were safe as Schinx had said. When he closed his eyes, everything came back to him. The call into the forest, the love for it, the satisfaction he felt when he found the situated trees and space between them, the feel of the cult when it was formed and all. The only part that tasted sour was the part where he was kidnapped and separated from his friends. He wanted to see them and know how they were faring. 'Are we the same now?' he spoke to himself. There was a lot to ruminate on and there still were questions that needed answers. He sighed and positioned his head in a resting state.
A couple of minutes passed and Schinx walked back in. He headed for the tables again and approached Aiden with a book that was sealed with bones. The bones joined to form an X on both sides and Schinx twisted the bones repeatedly until they opened and he looked into it. "This was the spell that caused the trees to grow. The book will come to you when you finally assume your post as the next alpha," Schinx said and huffed when he looked into it again. "The trees were not planted. Since they were not created, they can never be destroyed. They were the ones calling you, Aiden. It wasn't the forest. They, the trees knew it would soon be time. They needed a master - you. They called you and you brought your friends with the same twisted fate. They agreed to follow because they heard the call too but it was kind of dependent on your lead. When you preached it to them, they could not and would not say no…"
"I have questions," Aiden said hurriedly.
"Good. I have been waiting," Schinx said and walked close to Aiden and stood beside him.
"As a werewolf, am I a danger to my friends?" Aiden asked. He had accepted his fate. He was the same Aiden who wanted power and wanted to hold the conch that gives the rule to all. If being a werewolf would give it unto him, he wouldn't mind. However, he definitely would hate a career that would steal him from his friends.
"A werewolf can't hurt another from his pack. Though, you can fight and kill another werewolf for power shifts," Schinx answered.
Aiden tried to process the words. He closed his eyes and opened them again. "Don't tell me."
"You all had it in you, dormant. I turned you all," Schinx said.
"What! You bastard. I will kill you," Aiden said and struggled with his chains again. All to no avail. When he became calm, Schinx continued.
"With great power, comes great responsibility. You all are destined for this. For justice and humanity," Schinx said.
"Shut your gob," Aiden blurted again. "If it was for humanity why would you be cast into hell by humans? You were fighting for them, right? Why would they call on Hades to bind you for years?"
"Listen, lad. I grew into this. My backstory linked up with being in a bloodline that was cursed by the gene. I am purebred. Understand Aiden, that there was a time when I thought my family and I were the only ones. Just like that, there was a time vampires think singly that their families were the only supernatural in the world. One day, our paths crossed and we realized the similarities, but the need for contest existed between the young ones of both parties."
"My sister, Katerina found love with one of them. That was her end, we found her void of all blood and we stroked back. There, the vendetta began. They attacked us at night, which is when they're stronger and we did avange by day when they were weaker. To balance the scale, witches were involved in their game. They overcame sunlight via a spell, recruited more by turning more."
"But then the witches realized that humanity would fall and they began fighting us, but it was too late when they realized it. We were fighting back," Schinx said sternly.
"And now, you want us to continue your spree, right? Do you want us to recruit more? You want us to kill for you, isn't it? Hell no," Aiden said.
"We are not murderers, Aiden. We were trained to suppress the beast in us. But we had a rogue, my brother. He formed his army of undisciplined werewolves and they gave us all a bad name. I broke from the family too and formed mine, the heptagon. I commissioned them through sorcery and ensured that their spirit will ever be ready whenever another combat is up. They are in those trees. I am a tree in there, the other six were, too. I was calling you to come and take on the conch, the other six called on your friends too."
"The six were my creation just as the trees. For a month we were in the forest, there, where I saw you. I trained them and they overcame their beastly part. This was our hideout. I was imprisoned in hell before we begin our scheme and I lost them all. When the Shire witch broke out Kinini, I freed other purebred werewolves that I could help with at that moment. I wanted to teach them the precept of humanity but at the end of the portal were Kinini and his brothers who had gotten out before us, they had fed on people and had regained their strength. I was the only survivor because I know how to control my anger, I ran for dear life and that's why fell from the trees."
"This is the legacy I'm committing to you Aiden, save the world. You have it in you, all it takes," Schinx said.
Aiden nodded and scoffed, he was in it as he had thought. Not only he, his friend as well. "So, you took us against our wills to be trained, don't you? It's fatal you know?" Aiden said. "I don't want to die."
"Then fight. Save humanity."
"And how do I save humanity when I am a threat to them? I only know what I am, I don't know what I can do." Aiden questioned aloud.
"You can leap to heights unseen in your human form. You can lift a rock. You have sharper eyes and ears, all in your human form. You are as strong as Achilles, even stronger. You have your heels too, silver, belladonna, mistletoe, rowan tree, electricity, fire. Avoid these all. In your wolf form, you're as swift as light and light and wind. You're fatal to any vampire and smarter in sense. This is what you are, Aiden. Even more, as you are a true alpha. You heard my call, you should stand in my place as the heir to all that I can do. That is what you are, the future and potential leader of the heptagon," Schinx said.
All still sounded theoretical to Aiden. But some things caused him to smile, he would lead, he was stronger, and just as his proposed plan for the cult, more was committed into his and their hands. They would protect humanity with their powers. He began to feel that he was getting synced with the words and their impact on him. He found it difficult to hate himself and the scheme that was presented to him. He was a werewolf with a purpose, soon to be mentored by an experienced werewolf - that was certain.
"Can I be killed?" Aiden asked.
"Yes. But as a team, you're stronger. So, don't you ever leave one of your own behind," Schinx said.
Again, Aiden saw the correlation in the cult and they pack as they soon would be named. The code to not leave one of their own behind was real and energetic, he could feel it.
"We don't hurt humans, right?" Aiden questioned.
"I will train you not to," Schinx replied.
"How do we know another from the same fold?" Aiden asked.
"You will smell them?" Schinx answered.
"How do we know our enemies? I mean vampires and witches and vigilantes," Aiden questioned.
"Vampires will be cold, no smell. Witches and vigilantes can not be discerned. You must be careful who to trust," Schinx replied.
Aiden huffed and closed his eyes.
"If that's all for now, I will speak with your friends, they should be awake by now," Schinx said and walked into the recent adjoining room.
When Schinx left, Aiden was left to ponder on the theory he had learnt about. He wanted answers, he was given a load of it. Schinx had spoken about his powers, his weakness, the oncoming fight and the threats around it all. It would be interesting but fatal, he was looking forward to it.
