The first time Aiden went into the woods in the prohibited outskirts of Ashlake, it was a call or a pull by a voice or an unseen force. He realized that the deeper he went, the deeper he wanted to go. The greenery and the decaying matters called him, and he adhered to the trees that dwarfed him and joined overhead to form a shade in the sunny afternoon. Chirps from birds and screeches alerted him, but he was not scared. Shrubs poked at his feet as he went in with a slip-on, the reason he couldn't go deeper.
The next day, he couldn't wait for the time to exploit to fully come. He avoided his clique of friends and sneaked into the prohibited arena. He had marked his route with cryptic markings so that when he saw them, he could note where he stopped the night earlier. Just like in previous times, he felt interwoven with the trees and was tempted to see the heights. He wanted to feel what it was like to view the world from the treetops; to feel so close to the heavens he had said his wishes to; to see the free birds spreading their wings and feeling free. But as much as he towered in stature, he could only see things in the line of his eyes. Just like that, another wish was added. Aiden was enthusiastic about the future. For him, the past was dead though there were memories of his parents, no one else. About his present, there was the heptagon - consisting of four Johns, together with him and three Janes. They all had their lives, they had jointed lives, but the route Aiden had decided to take and was taking was his scheme alone. However, he planned on introducing it to them and hoped they agree to follow him. In his present assessment, he wanted to confirm that the forest was safe for the picnic he was planning.
He had a mackintosh boot on and shrubs and twigs crumbled under his feet. If it would be, he wanted the world to be as the twigs snapping beneath his feet. A pair of black jeans was belted to his waist and a singlet was below his hooded jacket that covered the scanty hairs that had forced him into having a crew cut. His eyes, evident and sharp monitored all angles as he was wide awake to the dangers that the forest might pose. His ears, small and attentive listened for the screeches and his eyes focused on his behind. His nose caught all damp soil and felt the cold while his skin received the summation of the signals. He was on goosebumps.
Just like always, the deeper he went, the deeper the forest called. He wanted to go further in. He touched the trees as he went, and placed markings on the barks with the green marker he came with. Every turn around trees was marked and he ensured that his boot print was on the floor of the forest.
He needed not ask a diviner to reveal the secrets behind his love for the forest. It had been from birth. Cancer killed his mother and while she was breathing her last in her ending days, she told Aiden three things that had been his push and pull. They were prophecies; his mother was a seer. Three things that were propelling him and initiating in him the thought of the future. His mother told him he would lead, but he will have to work to make his calling and election sure. That the whole world will look up to him for safety. In his circle of seven, he was known to be bossy and demanding. He would give orders and it would irk Luke, his best friend.
She also told him that all his wishes would come true. He would win the fight with alopecia areata and would tower in stature, as nature will be on his side, giving him all that he wanted. Aiden could see it halfway done in him, he has the height but not the hairs yet.
Lastly, he was told that he would get involved in a power tussle with a stronghold. But according to his mother, his life onwards that moment would decide on the decisions he make with the ones around him.
Over the years, these had been his drive. However sad and terrifying the music his future played for him. He wanted to dance to it regardless. He chose to trod the scary road of destiny than to live mellow without a name, just like his father. He knoweth not how it would go neither what it would take. But one thing was sure and since it seemed like a clue to his destiny -- that was his love for the forest which he had planned to take on no matter what.
As much as he was stuck on the plot with his mother's words, he sensed a perfectly enclosed arena and turned around when he stepped into it. It was enclosed by trees and the space within it would take more than twenty. He brought out his phone and took pictures showing all depressions and angles wherein the midline of the arena was visible. He needed to convince his friends.
Aiden closed his eyes and his sixth sense ministered to him. He felt things, a concussion, never to be unravelled. Whatever it is, he knew he would always return until a clue was found. Also, as the prophecies from his mother foretold, nature will guide him and bless him with friends and acquaintances that will grease his path. He knew that Luke would surely depict a thing or two when he finally bring the heptagon. There he spin around and counted the trees that had enclosed the area, they were seven.
He began to wonder how nature had decided to work in line with his wishes. He wanted to bring his circle to feel the woods with him and there he was, enclosed in an area that was circled by seven trees, one for each. He could feel the chemistry and he nodded at the vibes he was feeling.
It was as though his thoughts had found a place to completely materialize. His thoughts and want for leadership were seemingly having a stand and he laughed. He was up to date with news about crime gangs - cooperate and rash. He knew about the power tussle going on in the higher realms and knew about the budding gangs. He had always loved to belong to a gang, compete for territory and power, and that one day he and his group step up to compete as world beaters and all seemed to be having a stronghold.
"Finally, the cult will hold. We will be called a heptagon. We will fight the bullies and clean the street and the downtown of the minor crimes that transcend at the late hours," he said and smiled.
