Not Just A Pretty Face

I finished up my photoshoot in record time. Everyone seems really friendly and asking me lots of questions. It's like they have never met a she-wolf from another country before. Taylor introduces me to her best friend Elly and we're sitting on the balcony outside my new room and they ask me a million questions- all about boys.

"Do I have a boyfriend? "

"No"

"Do I like anyone? "

"um... no"

"Do I want to find my Mate?"

"No!"

"Why?"

"Because"

"Are the boys cute in Italy"

"yes" 

I give them all one-worded answers and they keep firing away. I can tell these girls are really sweet and completely boy-obsessed. They believe in love and finding their mate and keep perving on the talent that's walking past my room, and I can't blame them. There are so many good-looking guys and I wish I didn't have to be focused on the games. 

"Have you girls ever been in love before?" I ask,the girls look at each other and start giggling.

"Well, I've always liked my brother's best friend Dom... but I won't know if he's my mate until I turn 18" Elly's face has gone completely red from admitting her crush.

"I turn 18 next month and I'm hoping a boy from a neighboring pack is my mate. His name is Alex and he is so lovely and cool. He plays in a band and I watch him play every Friday night but I don't have the confidence to talk to him. I think he likes your enemy... Naomi" Taylor says while pretending she's about to spew at the mention of her name.

We all start laughing and then Taylor gets serious. 

"You need to be careful of Naomi, she's an incredible fighter, I just don't want you to get hurt," Taylor says turning to Elly

"I agree. My father wants my brother to marry her and she's so horrible. I was hoping he found his mate before he came home because I can't think of anyone worse than Naomi to be my sister" Elly sighs looking at the people walking past.

"I'm not afraid of Naomi. I once dated a vampire and had to deal with one of his jealous ex-girlfriends. Kicked her ass in under 30 seconds" The moment I said it I regretted opening my mouth because now the girls are wide-eyed and excited like they've just seen the moon goddess

"WOW! "

"You've dated a vampire?"

"Was he drop-dead gorgeous?" 

"Vampires are so hot"

"Why did you break up?" 

"Do you have a photo?"

"Did he suck your blood?"

I start to laugh "I promise you I'll answer all your questions another day but I really think I should have a rest before the ball".

"Actually I really need to go and see my brother. I'm so happy we met Sasha" Elly gives me a big hug and heads for the door.

"I'll be back at 6 pm for Glam squad. Make sure you're showered and rested. It's going to be a huge night" Taylor gives me a hug and walks out with Elly.

I decide it's the perfect time to call my Mum and with the time difference, it should be the morning back at home.

I dial mum's number and there's no answer... I try again nothing. I start to panic. I call Maria downstairs- nothing. My heart starts beating fast and the last person I want to call is Massimo but I have no choice.

Ring, ring... Ring, Ring... 

"Pronto" 

"MO! Where's Mum? I've been calling and there's no answer" I don't mean to yell at him but I'm so angry and panicked that it's my first reaction.

"So now you want to talk to me" I hear his smug voice but I also hear a woman giggling in the background

"Are you joking? I can't believe I trusted you with my mum and she's probably dead and you're already with another woman" my heart feels like it's breaking and I'm holding back the tears.

"Have you lost your mind? Your mum is with me. I took her for a ride on my bike and we're having coffee. Also, you have some nerve getting angry with me, but I can't talk about that right now in front of your mum" Massimo says in a stern but low voice.

"I want to speak to her now" I hear him pass the phone and all I hear is more giggling and it's really annoying me. 

"Hello?"

"Mum! It's me. Why aren't you answering your phone?" I ask, still sounding very angry.

"Massimo has taken me out and I'm having the best morning. He took me for a big ride on his bike and now we're having coffee in Testaccio. The owner is being so funny" I can hear how happy she is on the phone and I don't think I've ever heard her like this. It should make me happy but it doesn't.

"How are you? Has anyone recognized you?" 

"No mum, everything is fine. Can I speak to Mo please?"

"bye sweetheart. Stay safe" 

"Mo?"   silence.

"I'm sorry ok! I'm sorry for everything... You know I'm not good at talking about feelings. You're my best friend, I can't lose you" I plead. The tears start to fall and I know he can hear me crying

"You really hurt me Sasha... but I don't regret anything" he whispers into the phone

FUCK! What does this mean...

"... I have to go"

"Then I guess it's goodbye" and he hangs up the phone. 

My heart hurts and I feel horrible. What's he saying? We can never be together, he wants a wife and a family and I can never give him that.

I need to release this anger and decide to hit the gym.

Erik's POV

It's so weird being back home and my Dad is already putting pressure on me marrying Naomi. I was sent to his office where he gave me a huge lecture on my responsibilities and that I should have come back last week and I better win the games otherwise it will bring shame to our pack.

I feel like crap and decide to hit the gym. As I walk out of my room, I see my little sister Elly and her best friend Taylor in the hall chatting about vampires.

"Erik, I was looking for you. We need to go over your schedule and contracts"  Elly hands me some paperwork for me to look over.

"Not now Elly. I'm heading to the gym. Can I look over this later?" I feel bad because she is so excited to be my manager for the games but I just don't want to be around anyone right now.

"Ok, but we need to talk about social. You have lots of followers but all your posts are of food from your holiday. I need more content that's not of pizza and pasta" she rolls her eyes scrolling through my feed

"Hey! you know how much I love food. Is it really necessary to have photos of me?"

"Yes! Taylor's girl had no social and since Taylor set it up she's already got triple the followers you have" Elly shoves her phone in my face and I see photos of green eyes

'Is that who you're managing Taylor? Soon you'll be out of a job, we all know she's not going to last long" I pick up my pace and the girls follow me down the hall

"I'll have you know that she's fought against vampires and won" Taylor raises her voice and when I stop and look at her and Elly, I begin to laugh.

"Girls, when will you stop being so gullible? Do you know how hard it is to fight vampires?" I roll my eyes and keep walking towards the gym.

"I guess we'll know when she fights in the supernatural round" Elly says giving me attitude.

"That's if she makes it to the finals. The bets are she won't even make it through the first round. Also, Elly whose side are you on. Aren't you suppose to be my manager"  

Robbie and Dom are at the entrance of the gym and I wonder when I'm going to get a moment to myself.

The boys look like they're in a trance staring through the glass doors of the gym. 

"What's going on guys?" I ask, moving them out of the way.

"I open the double doors and I see the back of a woman punching and kicking a punching bag. Her hair is tied back and she's wearing tiny nude color bike shorts and a matching sports bra. Every punch and kick is with such force and I can hear her make loud grunting sounds that almost sound s****l. It's making my d**k twitch and I want to know who this incredible woman is. We're all just staring, and nobody is saying anything, except for Taylor who has her phone out recording this mystery she-wolf. I can see some white dust fall on her and I look up to the ceiling and it looks like the ceiling is about to fall on top of her. I can see that the heavy chain that's holding up the bag is breaking away from the ceiling from the force of her hits.

"HEY! YOU NEED TO STOP" I start to run over to her but it's too late. She does a huge roundhouse kick into the bag which makes the bag explode on impact and the ceiling fall on her head including the heavy chain.

Everyone runs over and it's not until I get close to her I see its green eyes. 

"Oh my goodness Sasha!" Taylor screams 

I clean the debris off her and check her pulse. She's bleeding from her head but it doesn't look too deep.

I lift her up in my arms and lay her on a massage bed that we have in the gym.

"I've already mind linked the doctor and he's on his way," Elly says trying to comfort Taylor

"Is that the girl from the airport? You would have thought this pretty thing was so strong?" Robbie asks

Of course, Robbie isn't going to forget his two-second moment with green eyes.

"You met her at the airport?" Elly asks Robbie

"Erik sat next to her on the plane but she slept the whole way. He was gutted because he thought he could use his alpha charms on her. He never got to meet her and when she walked past us in the customs line she ignored Erik and said hello to Robbie and gave him a wink" Dom slaps me on the back and he can't stop laughing. 

Everyone starts to laugh, and I try to ignore it and I keep holding her hand. I notice she has AirPods in her ears and I take them out gently. The doctor arrives along with his son Joseph who looks distraught when he sees Sasha un-conscience. I move out of the way for the doctor and Joseph grabs her hand. My body fills will jealously seeing him touch her and I let out a low growl which my sister only seems to hear. Elly gives me a weird look and I shrug it off.

"Dad, this is my friend I was telling you about," Joseph says proudly to his Dad

"Don't worry son, I'll make sure your friend will be ok" He looks her over and grabs a small vial from his bag,  and takes off the lid, and waves it under Sasha's nose. She suddenly opens her eyes but lets out a small groan and touches her head where she's in pain.

"Hello Sasha, my name is Doctor Graham. I'm Joseph's Dad. Can you see how many fingers I'm holding up?" Doctor Graham  holds up 3 fingers

"five... no four" Sasha whispers

"I think she has a slight concussion  but just to be safe I will take her back to the hospital and watch over her" he starts packing his bag

"Will she be ok to attend the ball tonight Doctor"  Taylor asks 

"Let's just get her back and see how she feels in a few hours. Would someone be able to carry her to the hospital?" The Doctor ask and before I can say anything, Joseph picks her up and I can see his body trembling because he's not strong enough.

"Thank you Joey. You're my hero"  Sasha's voice sounds strained and she snuggles into Joseph's chest. I feel that jealousy build up inside me again. 

As they're walking out, green eyes makes eye contact with me and gives me a little smile. My wolf starts howling and wants me to follow her to the hospital. I'm tempted but I see no point. She's just another pretty wolf that will be gone by the end of the week. 

I need to stay focused.
