ch 2

703 Words
Across town, another house was stirring to life. The faint scent of coffee drifted through the halls, mixing with the sounds of clinking dishes and muffled conversation. Zee sat at the head of the long dining table, scrolling through his phone as his brothers slowly filled the room. Lian, the second eldest, entered first, carrying a stack of papers under one arm. He gave Zee a casual nod before setting the documents down and grabbing a mug of coffee. Max, the third brother, came in next, grinning broadly as always. His presence seemed to brighten the room. He clapped Zee on the back as he passed by, grabbing some toast on his way. Then came Tutor, the youngest of the four alpha brothers, his energy immediately noticeable. He was already talking before he even sat down, jumping into conversation like he always did. “Morning, Hia Zee! Any plans today?” Zee glanced up from his phone, giving Tutor a faint smile. “Work, as usual. You?” Tutor shrugged. “Not sure yet. Might head out to meet some friends.” Lian leaned back in his chair, sipping his coffee as he scanned the papers he’d brought with him. “You’ll need to be careful, though. There’s talk about omega families in town. New arrivals.” Zee’s attention shifted from his phone to Lian at the mention of omegas. His brow furrowed slightly. “New families? Are they from here?” “Not sure,” Lian said, setting his mug down. “But I heard there are four omega brothers. Must be quite the family.” Max chuckled as he spread butter on his toast. “Four brothers, huh? Must be chaos.” Zee’s mind wandered for a moment. Four omega brothers. He had to admit, it piqued his curiosity. Alphas like them were naturally drawn to omegas, their fates intertwined in ways most couldn’t explain. Still, Zee wasn’t one to rush into anything—especially when it came to something as life-altering as meeting an omega destined to be his mate. He shifted in his seat, his gaze distant. “Have you heard anything about who they are?” Lian shook his head. “Not yet. But if they’re new in town, we’ll probably find out soon enough.” Tutor, ever the enthusiast, leaned forward, his eyes sparkling with excitement. “Maybe they’ll be at the town festival next week! If they’re new, they’ll probably want to see what the place is like.” Max grinned. “Perfect chance for you to scope them out, Hia Zee.” Zee rolled his eyes, but deep down, his thoughts lingered on the possibility. Omegas were rare, and finding one’s fated mate was even rarer. He couldn’t deny the slight thrill that ran through him at the thought. But as the eldest, Zee was used to keeping his emotions in check, leading with responsibility rather than impulse. Still, the idea of meeting his omega one day—someone who would be uniquely his, someone he could protect and cherish—had always been there, hovering in the back of his mind. “You think too much about this stuff,” Max said, breaking through Zee’s thoughts with a playful nudge. “When it happens, it happens.” Zee shook his head, unable to suppress a small smile. Max was right, of course. There was no point in overthinking something that was meant to be. But he couldn’t help the feeling that something was changing—that fate was starting to stir, and soon, his life wouldn’t be the same. As the morning continued, the brothers fell into their usual routines, but the conversation about the new omega family hung in the air. Zee found himself wondering more and more about them, and what it would be like to meet an omega whose presence could change everything. Later that evening, as the sun began to set, Zee stood by the window in his room, staring out at the horizon. His thoughts drifted back to Lian’s words—four omega brothers. Fate, it seemed, was already at work. And soon, he would discover just how strong the bond between an alpha and his omega could be.
