Looney Tunes

“So, do you have religion and... stuff... on Klyntar...??” Venom scoffs. “If you count dictatorship as religion, then yes.” Eddie nods, jots down whatever the alien tells. Her notepad is balanced on her right knee, pen in one hand and coffee in the other. “Tell me about the rebellion.” She says, takes a sip of the steaming hot liquid, her brain on autopilot with her hands. She hisses at the sting of gulping down too much. Though, she has to bite back an amused smirk when Venom hisses, too. “Too hot, Eddie!” Venom all but squeaks out. He narrows his eyes when she only laughs and sticks her tiny tongue out at him. He huffs, then finally answers her. “After millions of years of Knull snuffing out stars and planets and bonding symbiotes to Celestials, some of us began to wake ourselves, instead of waiting for our creator to call upon us. We don’t know how it was possible, but we were so grateful that we never questioned it. This is far before my time. Knull constructed an artificial planet from the living darkness to serve as his throne room for his greedy empire. From this new base of his, he waged full on war against anything that stood for the light. When enough of us finally awakened, we were finally able to help the rest of our kin to wake, as well. As our maker, and as a hive species, Knull knew that we were planning to destroy him. So he destroyed our world first.” Eddie notes he doesn’t sound all that sad. Still, she’s slowly placing her coffee mug down on the table, and she can’t help shooting him a scowl of regret. “s**t, V... I’m sorry. We don’t have to do this. It was a stupid idea. You know me, right? I’m full of stupid ideas.” Venom chuckles at that adorable sheepish look on that lovely face of hers... it really is so very lovely. “Yes, you are.” He chuckles again when that scowl only spreads wider across that pretty brow. “But I am fine. And this was not a stupid idea, Eddie.” He grins, feels her concern starting to dissolve. “I haven’t told you the best part yet. We followed him to his new planet, latched onto him like a... parasite.” Eddie smirks. “So, you finally admit it.” She can’t help herself. He’s just too easy. “I am NOT a parasite! It was just a metaphor!” Venom snaps before he can stop himself. It’s like a reflex now, he swears. Stupid Eddie. He huffs when she only laughs at him, takes a deep breath to calm himself. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to shout... But you know what you did.” Eddie grins back at him after tucking her feet under her ass and getting a little more comfy on the couch. “You know I’m just messin’ with you, babe. Chill – as the kids say.” “I am chill. I’m as cool as a cucumber. And I’m pretty sure no kids say that these days.” Venom’s voice is low and grumbling, but “chill,” just like he says. He shivers when she laughs that pretty laugh again, is thankful that she doesn’t seem to notice... too busy mocking him instead... stupid Eddie. “Well, OK, then. Good.” Eddie chooses to ignore his little quip, instead, bites back an amused smirk, purses her lips as she writes a few more notes down. “What happened after that? Is it possible for you guys to latch onto him and take control?” She finally asks, hugs her knees to her chest, her notepad resting on top of them. Venom feels his insides tingle warmly at the mere sight of her – all tucked up and cosy under that ridiculous fluffy red robe of hers... so tiny. He floods around her, wants to keep her warm, even if he knows he’s already doing so. Still, the blinding smile she shoots him is worth it, all the same. “Minus us taking control of his mind, that is exactly what we were made for before the idea of bonding us with Celestials came to him. We were his weapons, after all. But many of us tried anyway... we dragged him down to the core of his artificial planet, all the way down to his precious throne room where we finally were able to imprison him, where he’s been ever since, and hopefully, where he will remain for eternity. We took over the planet, made it our new home, our new Klyntar.” “That’s pretty fuckin’ badass, V – goin’ up against the evil god that created you for his own insidious gain.” Eddie chuckles at his adorably dopey-ass grin. “What does ‘Klyntar’ mean?” She asks, stares curiously up at his adorable little noodle-head. “Your human word for ‘cage.’” Venom scoffs. “And my kind now mostly just lie dormant again... it is SO boring, Eddie. I told you, I would rather wander, alone forever. They do not know how to have fun! Your planet is SO fun!” He groans, clearly dismayed. “It is, isn’t it?” And now, it’s Eddie’s turn to scoff. “Guess that’s why it’s equally f****d up... not really a fair trade...” “That is what WE are for, Eddie! We are the Lethal Protector! We save innocent people and you let me eat bad guys! It’s a total win-win!” Venom exclaims, loud in his excitement. Only, this causes the old lady down stairs to bash the end of her broom (yet again) against her ceiling, and Venom is only annoyed because he swears the woman has better hearing than even him... and she’s, like, a thousand years old! Venom floats down to the floor, hisses out through gritted fangs, “I wasn’t even being that loud, you stupid old crone!” Eddie chuckles just as she feels her phone buzzing in her robe pocket. “Eddie...” Venom is half distracted, same as Eddie as she reaches for her phone. “Eddie, I feel strange...” He thinks he knows this feeling, but he can’t quite place it... yet. Eddie sees it’s a text from Patrick. “Well, I did say one day you’ll eat so many tots that even your adorably squidgy symbiote ass is gonna finally implode, babe.” She says, still distracted as she texts the Detective back. She shoves her phone back into her pocket, shoots him a soft smile when she sees his slightly ridged form and deep scowl. “Hey, I’m just messin’ with you again. You’ll be fine, V. I promise. Just sleep it off.” “No.” Venom slowly turns to see her looking slightly confused. “Something is happening, Eddie. I don’t know what... but I can feel it... something has changed.” Eddie blinks, fights back the usual initial panic her brain always resorts to. “Uhh... what... what the hell does that mean?” Obviously, she fails to sound any less worried than she feels. And the worried look now slowly forming over his monstrous (yet deeply sweet and highly animated) face does absolutely nothing to comfort her. “It’s not... us... is it?” Honestly, she would rather deal with another psychotic symbiote baby of Venom’s. Venom can’t help smiling. She’s just too cute when she’s worried... especially over them... over him. “No, Eddie. There is nothing wrong with us. We are, and always will be perfect. Since the last Celestial Knull ever bonded with symbiote, there has honestly been no other so perfectly matched as WE are, Eddie.” Eddie can’t help chuckling rather awkwardly as she feels her cheeks heating just from the low purring tone of his voice. Still, she’s a confident woman. Always has been... maybe a little too much... sometimes. Her voice is somehow steady as she says, “You certainly know how to make a lady feel special with words, V.” She may be teasing, but she totally means it. “It IS part of my loveable charm.” Venom states, grins all too proudly. “How about a second date after you grab beers with the Detective and I grab some heads afterwards?” He glares at her when she only bursts out laughing. “WHAT is so funny?” He bites out, practically snarls (like a damn spawn... stupid Eddie!) “You. Grabbin’ heads.” Venom rolls his eyes, shakes his head in disappointment. “How old are you, Eddie?” He drawls out, shoots her a withering look. Eddie scoffs. “Not as old as the 400 million year old symbiote who likes chicken nuggets and Looney Tunes.” She smirks smugly when he narrows those large, shiny, milky white eyes of his. “You’re a lot like Taz, by the way.” Venom scoffs back. “I’ll take that as a compliment, because he is awesome, like I am awesome, and you know it.” He states in snooty matter-of-fact tone. She chuckles again, and he tingles all over again. He’s getting pretty good at hiding it... but with Eddie’s part of their bond now finally growing stronger, too... how long will he be able to hide his stupid feelings for? “And another date sounds fun, V.” Eddie finally replies, and seeing that dopey-ass grin of his makes it all the more worth it.
