‘You should have let me kill him, Eddie.’ Venom grumbles, shifts just under the surface of her skin as she slowly trudges up the stairwell.
Eddie sighs loudly and tiredly, dress all crumpled and grubby, one hand grasping her clutch purse and the other holding onto the straps of her stilettos. “Would love to have let you, V... as much as I’d like for us to still be alive... which we are, so...”
Venom huffs. ‘He said he wanted to ravish you.’ He states through gritted teeth.
Eddie scoffs out half a chuckle, shakes her head as she ascends the last set of stairs. “He said I looked ravishin’... which, I do.”
‘Of course you do! And what is the difference? Ravishing means to carry off by force!’ Venom sounds outraged, throwing his fit inside her head (something she’s far too used to.) ‘I will stay extra alert tonight while you sleep, and I will DISEMBOWEL anybody who thinks they can barge in and –‘
“V, babe, breathe... Jesus.” Eddie pauses when she finally gets to the top (because of course she would live on the second to top floor of a multi-story apartment building that has a broken lift that her useless son of b***h super refuses to shell out for and finally f*****g fix!) When Venom lets out another (much louder) huff, Eddie can’t help smiling, can’t help feeling as amused as she is touched by his (over-over) protectiveness. “And now, look up in my head what he really meant...”
She bites back another smile when Venom grunts, but mumbles out a quiet, ‘Fine...’ Venom growls as soon as he finds the thought, angrily roars out, ‘He wants to EAT you! Eddie, if you do not let me kill him, I WILL make you look like an asshole at Annie’s wedding!’
Eddie scoffs as she digs into her purse for her keys. “You wouldn’t dare. In fact, you’re the one who’s gonna be worryin’ about me not ruinin’ the whole thing. Which, by the way, rude. I’m not the one who slaps Dan for no reason. And also, that’s not what Mag-Dickbag meant when he said I looked ravishin’. Dig deeper, babe.” She can’t help feeling smug, can’t help teasing the alien when he always makes so easy to.
When Venom “digs deeper” his noodle-head comes instantly spiralling out of the back of her neck. “THAT’S worse!” He roars in utter outraged. “Oh, I will DEFINITELY be locking you in your bedroom while you sleep from now on!”
“No, you won’t. Do you NOT remember that’s the type of s**t my old man used to do to me?” Eddie arches a brow, shoots him a withering look.
Venom watches her walk off without waiting for his response. Instantly, he feels the guilt (hates feeling it so f*****g much! Especially where Eddie is concerned... stupid Eddie.) “Eddie...” His voice is low and soft as he slowly floats after her, the inky cord that physically bonds them growing shorter as he grows closer to her. “I’m sorry, Eddie...”
Eddie sighs when he slowly loops himself around her waist a few times before nuzzling his noodle-head into her side. “I’m not mad at you, V. Just tired, and pissed off that these goddamn mutants keep showin’ up un-fuckin’-announced.”
“Imagine how much phenethylamine a mutant’s brains produce...” Venom mumbles slowly and quietly, almost... suggestively. He hears her pretty laugh then, feels it vibrate lightly against the side of his head and digs his maw deeper into her side to hide his stupid grin.
“Will you just be serious, please?” Eddie lightly scolds him, though, there’s a playful hint to her tone. She goes to raise her key to her door, pauses again with a thoughtful look on her face as she suddenly glances down at him. “What would happen if you ate my head?”
Venom thinks it must be the nosey reporter in her that always makes her ask such odd questions. But he enjoys them all, nonetheless. He feels an odd sort of preening when she asks him any question. That she wants to hear his input makes him feel wanted by her. And that she sometimes actually asks for his real worldly – universal – knowledge makes him feel important to her.
Venom reluctantly pulls away from her solid warmth (and delicious figure), his head now floating in front of her as he arches an invisible brow in question. “Why do you ask me such weird questions, Eddie? You don’t ask anyone else weird questions... well, apart from Annie. But I know you only do that to annoy her, so it doesn’t count.” He sounds slightly amused as he speaks, slightly teasing, as usual.
Eddie shrugs, honestly answers with, “No idea. They literally just come to me right off the cuff.”
Venom chuckles.
Eddie narrows her eyes, suspicion clear in her eyes, and her hand with her keys still raised and paused in mid air. “What would happen?” She asks again, with her own brow now raised expectantly back at him.
“Nothing. Because I cannot do that, Eddie.” Venom states, like that just explains everything.
Eddie chuckles. “It’s OK, V. I won’t get mad. It’s just a hypothetical. I just wondered, is all.” She states with a casual little shrug (and Venom fights the urge to look at those pretty bared shoulders of hers, all covered in that pretty colourful ink – so vibrant compared to his own oily blackness.
“No – I mean I physically cannot do that, Eddie.”
“Oh.” And now, Eddie just feels stupid. Damn, she really must be tired.
Venom fights back the urge to let his tendrils wonder over to those perfectly juicy swells of her breasts. Instead, he uses talking to distract himself. “I cannot kill my host. Basic symbiote biology. It goes against my genetic programming. Our perfect host makes us the best version of ourselves, and in return, we give you life... power.”
By now, Eddie pretty much knows the gist, but nonetheless, she still finds herself slightly breathless at his words. Of course, it doesn’t help that he practically purrs them out while looking rather adoringly back at her. How can her heart not flutter?
The apartment door behind Eddie suddenly opens, a loud and familiarly grating voice instantly filling their comfortable silence. “Yeah, so, I totally had her gagging by the end of the night... if ya know what I me–OH, s**t!”
Eddie rolls her eyes to herself, while Venom peeks slowly around her shoulder to glare at their neighbour.
“Uh, hey, man, uh, Mister Venom, sir... I, wasn’t, uh, I mean, I don’t want no trouble or nothing, I’m just out here to –“
Venom huffs, his tone disappointed as he tells the quivering mess of a human, “Even scaring you is boring!” He turns to Eddie, incredulous as he asks her, “I didn’t even KNOW it was possible for intimidation to be so tedious, Eddie! HOW is that possible?!” He growls in annoyance when he sees the guy holding up both his hands and quite near to pissing his pants (from what Venom can smell), grunts out his next words, “Just go.”
“Oh, thank you, sir!”
Eddie finally lets out a laugh as she watches the guy sprint off as fast as he possibly can, laughs again when he almost trips over his own ankles and down the stairwell. She glances back to Venom, who just stares after the poor guy with an irritated scowl. “You know you’re gonna give him a heart attack one day, right?”
“Survival of the fittest, Eddie.” Venom grins cheekily as he turns back to face her. “It is not my fault if mother nature gave him a weak organ.”
Eddie snorts out the most ladylike like laugh, Venom grins even wider at the ugly pretty sound, has grown so used to and fond of it. She finally turns back to her door, finally slots the key in and opens her door.
Venom floats in after her, and nudges the door shut with his head. Instead of following her into her bedroom – where he knows he’ll be distracted as she strips out of the lovely dress and unintentionally shows off that even lovelier figure of hers – he floats into the kitchen to let Sonny and Cher out of their little pen. He keeps trying to distract himself as he opens the cupboards and grabs the bag of chicken feed, but it’s simply no use when he can see through her eyes... he could stop doing that. He suddenly does when he feels slightly creepy (doesn’t like the feeling, at all!)
He shakes his floating head, if only to shake himself out of it all. He focuses on grabbing Sonny and Cher’s little trough, begins slowly filling it up with the chicken feed, is careful not to spill any (like he so often does), because this is supposed to be their “hot” date and Venom doesn’t want to upset or anger Eddie on their date... he doesn’t ever want to do those things, actually... well unless she asks for it... stupid Eddie...
Well, he hopes this is their “hot” date. Hopes she is still in the mood for anything after a certain creepy old man mutant...
If anything, Venom would just like to dance. Properly. He would just like to hold her... properly.
Eddie finally emerges from her bedroom, sporting a tight black tank top and small booty-shorts (that Venom swears he is eternally grateful to whoever invented the gloriously tight little things.) “Uh, V...”
Venom simply stares back at her, slightly confused.
Eddie slowly lifts a finger towards him, her own brow furrowed in confusion along with him. “You’re gettin’ all the feed everywhere.”
Venom’s eyes snap down to see just what she’s talking about, then widen in horror as he sees all the feed has indeed gone just about everywhere. The trough is literally overflowing, and Venom feels the stupid tingles of embarrassment at having been caught outright. Although, thankfully for him, Eddie seems completely oblivious to the fact that she is the one making him so goddamn unfocused. It’s gotten worse in the last few months, ever since they defeated Kasady. Their bond has grown and somehow turned Venom into a bumbling love-struck fool.
Eddie can only smile on in amusement as she watches him angrily start to shovel the feed back into the bag after setting the bag on the counter. His inky little digits curling around the handfuls of pellets as he continues to grumble under his breath while doing so. She slowly makes her way over, wriggling her toes in her fluffy black grandma slippers and pulling her trusty red robe tightly around herself. “You finally fattenin’ the little assholes up to eat ‘em?” She teases, but she wishes he would just actually eat them already...
OK, sure, she’s grown quite fond of the avian pair, but Sonny is NOT a chicken – and the little fuckface frequently wakes her up with his cuckooing at the break of goddamn dawn!
“Absolutely not!”
“Ohh, grouchy.” Eddie chuckles, nudges her hip playfully against his floating head and laughs at the adorable extra two little inky black arms that come sprouting out to lightly slap her away.
Venom finally stops his annoyed grumbling when he finally scoops the last of the feed back into the bag. At least he’s learned to tidy up after himself. Another lesson, curtesy of Eddie. He places the bag back into the cupboard, then, places the half filled trough back in the best friends’ little pen (next to the little wooden castle that he carved out just for them to live in.) He watches the two birds rush back into their pen, watches for a moment as they ever hungrily devour his offerings, ever grateful. He really does love them so much. Almost as much as he loves Eddie.
Venom turns back to face Eddie, watches her now instead as she pulls a clean mug from the dish rack and then turns on the coffee filter machine. He’s tempted to complain about the disgusting liquid she likes to much, but also knows that caffeine keeps the mind awake. He’s rather hopeful then as he slowly floats over to her and asks, “Can I put on the music, Eddie?” As much as he would like to just dance with her right now, he knows how to be tactful... when he wants to.
“‘The’ music?” Eddie is amused as she turns to face him, leans back against the counter as she waits for the pot to boil. She can’t help smirking as she says, “Smooth operator, huh?”
“Ugh!” Venom looks disgusted as he states, “I hate that song!”
Eddie laughs, can’t help smiling fondly back at him. “I wasn’t talkin’ about the song, I was talkin’ about you, you big idiot.”
Venom stares blankly back at her for a moment, then mumbles out a quiet, “Oh.” He hopes he doesn’t sound as bashful as he suddenly feels. Ugh with these stupid complex and never ending variety of emotions! Stupid Eddie!
