KETRA
He staggered back, dazed, one hand flying to his head as if he couldn’t quite believe it.
I didn’t give him time. I lunged forward and delivered another brutal blow across his face. His body reeled, stumbling backward until he slammed into one of the stall doors. It swung open violently, and he crashed onto the tiled floor.
He tried to push himself up, but his movements were sluggish, uncoordinated, his mind struggling to catch up to the reality of what had just happened.
And I stood over him, knuckles dripping red, my breath steady.
“I guess s****l abuse runs in the veins of you Dons,” I hissed, my voice sharp with contempt. “I came here for revenge, not expecting to meet another pervert. Seems it’s my lucky day—buy one, get one free.”
He had already pushed himself upright, his back pressed against the wall like a cornered rat. “Please… it was a misunderstanding,” he stammered, his voice trembling, eyes darting desperately for escape. “I let myself… my body control me. Please—”
“Oh really?” My lips curved into a cold smile as my knuckles tightened. “Let’s see how much control you have left.”
Before he could speak again, my fist shot forward, landing hard against his right eye. His scream ripped through the air, raw and pitiful. He clutched at his face, blood already seeping through his fingers.
“I should take those eyes,” I sneered, standing over him. “The same eyes that feast on women and turn them into prey.”
He whimpered, tears mixing with blood as he tried to crawl backward across the tiles. His body shook, his palms scrambling against the slick floor.
I followed slowly, letting him feel the weight of my steps. When he tried to drag himself further away, I crouched low, my shadow swallowing his trembling form. “Shhh…” I whispered, grabbing his face, forcing him to look at me through the blood streaming down. His ruined eye was already swollen shut.
“Look at what you’ve done to your pretty face, Signore.” My smile widened, cruel and deliberate. Then I drove another punch into him. And another. His screams cracked into sobs, his hands feebly trying to shield himself, but my strikes broke through.
Finally, I released him and stood tall, watching him crumple into a weeping mess on the floor. “Please… stop… I beg you,” he whimpered, fear rattling in every word.
I raised my bloodied hand, the red dripping down my knuckles, and stared at it with disgust. “You started this game,” I spat. “And now my hands are stained with your filth.” My voice dropped to a snarl. “Learn to keep your urges in check, because next time… I’ll cut your balls off and shove them down your throat. Do you understand me?”
“Yes—yes!” he yelped, his voice breaking with terror.
“Good.” I smirked, wiping the blood off with calm precision. At the basin, I washed my hands clean, the water running crimson before swirling down the drain. I slid the metal knuckles back into my purse, every movement deliberate, controlled.
Turning toward him one last time, I let my smile linger, mocking. “Clean yourself up. Wouldn’t want anyone to know a Don got beaten bloody… by a woman.”
With that, I walked out, heels clicking against the tiles, my lips curling into a satisfied smile.
I stepped into the park hall, and immediately, the atmosphere hit me like a wall. It wasn’t just an event, it was a gathering for the elite. Everywhere I looked, it was polished shoes, glittering gowns, jeweled wrists, and laughter dripping with money. The kind of place where only people with power and class were welcomed, and somehow, I had managed to slip right in.
A waiter drifted past me with a silver tray, the glasses of champagne catching the light like liquid gold. I plucked one and moved toward the shadows of a corner, trying to appear like I belonged. Ruby and Mandy should have been inside by now. I tapped the tiny earpiece snug in my ear.
“Are you in position?” I whispered, my eyes scanning the crowd.
Mandy’s voice came through, steady and sharp. “Yes. I’m in the CCTV room.”
“What about Ruby?” I asked quickly.
“She’s right here.”
The voice came from behind me. I turned, and there she was, Ruby, disguised in a waiter’s crisp uniform, balancing a tray of champagne with perfect ease.
“This job suits you,” I murmured with a faint smirk.
“Oh, please,” she scoffed softly, “you’re the one having all the fun.”
Before I could respond, a voice boomed through the hall’s speakers, smooth and commanding. “Thank you all for honoring my invitation. Please, enjoy yourselves.”
The glass in my hand trembled slightly. That voice. My chest tightened, blood rushing hot through my veins. Rage flickered alive inside me like a match thrown into gasoline. I didn’t need to look, but I did, and there he was. Standing on the stage, the man I came here for.
My fingers curled around the stem of the glass until my knuckles whitened. Every bone in my body screamed to leap forward, to end him right there in front of his oblivious guests. My muscles shifted to move, but Ruby’s hand caught mine.
Her lips brushed close to my ear. “Calm yourself. Not now. You’ll have him, soon.”
Her whisper anchored me, but only barely. I forced myself to inhale slowly, swallowing down the fire clawing up my throat. This couldn’t go rogue. Not tonight.
A guest called out, “A glass of champagne, please,” and Ruby slipped away, leaving me in the corner again.
I scanned the hall, searching for someone approachable, someone to blend in with, but the room was thick with vanity and smug faces. Then I saw him.
Not the target—someone else.
A tall man, his presence impossible to ignore. Broad shoulders strained against the seams of his tailored suit, every muscle threatening to break free. His slicked-back hair was tied neatly into a ponytail, his posture straight, composed. He was the kind of man who looked like he belonged to power, and from head to toe, he was immaculate. And yet, his eyes were already on me.
Heat stirred in my chest, unsettling and dangerous. I tilted back the rest of my champagne in one bold gulp and started toward him, pulse quickening with each step.
But just before I reached him, a hand shot out and yanked me back.
I spun around—and froze.
It was him.
The monster.
For a moment, the world shrank to just his face, and every ounce of blood in my body roared with fury. I hadn’t even laid the trap yet, and here he was, walking right into my reach. A smile tugged at my lips, sharp and dangerous.
“Well,” he purred, lifting my hand as though I were some delicate thing, “what’s a pretty lady like you doing here all alone?” He pressed a lingering kiss against my skin, his lips leaving a trail of revulsion down my arm.
Before I could answer, another voice cut through, smooth and confident.
“Stealing my lady already?”
The tall, handsome stranger stepped forward, the same man whose gaze had locked onto me moments ago.
The monster’s smirk darkened. “I got to her first.”
“Then I suppose it’s my bad luck,” the stranger replied easily, but his eyes lingered on me as he winked, before strolling away.
For a fleeting second, disappointment stirred in me. Then the monster leaned closer, his arrogance dripping like poison.
“He may have the face,” he sneered, “but I have the money and the power. I’m Don Mario. And you, amore… what’s your name?”
“You’ll find out soon enough,” I said, my tone light but laced with steel.
He chuckled. “I like a mysterious woman. This place is too crowded. Why don’t I show you to my crib?”
Lust always made men sloppy. My lips curved into a practiced smile. “Lead the way, signore.”
His fingers tightened around mine, and he guided me out of the glittering hall into the quieter corridor beyond. The echo of our footsteps was swallowed by the silence of the hallway, broken only by his attempts at small talk.
“I haven’t seen a beauty like you before,” he said, glancing at me with wolfish hunger.
“Strange,” I murmured coolly, “you’ve had your share of beauties here, haven’t you?”
He faltered, eager to defend himself. “Not like that. I didn’t mean it that way—”
“No need to explain.” My voice sliced through his excuses, leaving him fumbling.
We stopped before a heavy door, the corridor lined with CCTV cameras glinting from above. He swiped a sleek card across the reader, and with a beep, the door unlocked.
“After you, amore,” he said, swaggering into the dimly lit room.
I followed, letting the door click shut behind me. He motioned toward the bed with a flourish, and I sank onto it gracefully, masking the storm brewing in my chest. He lowered himself beside me, his fingers wrapping possessively around my hand.
“A woman as stunning as you should be with me,” he whispered, trailing kisses from my knuckles upward, each one sending fire, not passion, but rage, through my veins.
“And what do I get in return?” I asked, voice dripping with feigned curiosity.
“Money. Protection. Power,” he said without hesitation, his arrogance radiating like heat. Then, with a smirk, he added, “Now stop asking questions and show me what you’ve got.”
He rose, looming above me, and gave me a gentle push back onto the mattress. My heart thudded, not from fear, but from the rising anticipation of what I was about to do.
“Let’s see,” he whispered, lowering himself over me, “what beauty lies beneath that mask.”
His fingers brushed the edge of my disguise, moving with deliberate slowness as he began to peel it away.
The mask slid up, his greedy fingers pushing it aside until my face was fully revealed.
“Dio mio…” he breathed, his eyes widening with lust. “You look… stunning.” His hand trailed across my cheek, down to my lips, brushing them as though he were admiring a priceless jewel. “And these—these juicy lips…” His voice dropped to a husky whisper.
I forced a smile, tilting my head slightly. “They’re all yours,” I said sweetly, sinking back against the bed. “Let me show you what I’ve got.”
“As you wish, amore.”
He smirked and pulled away, sprawling across the mattress like a king awaiting tribute. His arrogance was suffocating. I rose gracefully and climbed over him, straddling his body, my weight pressing into his chest. His hands moved instantly, possessively, clutching my hips before sliding lower, gripping and squeezing my ass with hungry force.
“Ah…” he groaned, his head tipping back.
I leaned in slowly, my lips hovering closer, closer, until his hot breath fanned against my mouth. He puckered eagerly, waiting for the kiss, eyes half-shut with anticipation.
But my hands had their own plan.
While one rested on his chest, the other slid with practiced ease to the slit at my thigh. My fingers brushed cool steel, the knife hidden was strapped in a leather belt. I slid it free, the cold steel firm in my grip.
