They talked and feasted, and by they, it was meant that everyone, except Hades and alpha Fey, was chatting the night away and eating happily. The only ones who felt the growing tension between the two were Aries and Ariel, it was so thick they could cut it with a knife.
Throughout the night Hades was mostly silent listening to the guys chatting about their responsibilities and about their hunts and “great” achievements these past three years.
Hades zoned out most of the time thinking to himself silently, planning how to woo Feyrouz without actually showing interest.
He knew that it would be a challenge. But, he liked challenges and that was something proven throughout history time and time again.
He caught her staring at him multiple times, but then she would turn it into a hard glare and top it off with a warning snarl, which he repeatedly returned with a smirk.
She found that frustrating and it aggravated her even more that he wasn’t going to make it easy on her. She believed that he wouldn’t be the type to give up easily but he had too much pride to run after her, so she was going to use that to her advantage. She was going to play him, and what better way to do that than to use the classical hot and cold method.
Fey had a solid resolution and she wasn’t going to break anytime soon. She never did anyway. She was determined to break him first.
Fey drew a sickly sweet smile on her face at the end of the gathering which caught Hades’ attention. He raised a brow in all astonishment, which actually got her excited, her plan to confuse the f**k out of him was working.
This was just the start, she had great plans for him. She was going to make him wish he never had a mate.
Little did she know he had conjured his own wicked plans.
Seeing that sickly sweet smile of hers was just a declaration of war, nothing more.
He plastered a smile of his own, deciding to show her that she was in way over her head.
Clearing his throat, he caught everyone’s attention because he hasn’t spoken since he arrived, “I have elating news for all of you.” He started.
Alpha Fey caught on and her eyes widened.
Her reaction made his once fake smile grow wider with more authenticity.
“I finally found my mate.” He stated, all seriousness in his voice.
A squeal here and gasp there sounded in the background as he held her gaze.
Her eyes pleaded him not to do this. She hadn’t expected him to announce it, not on their first night. Not like this.
He was playing dirty. She didn’t expect him to put her on spot like that.
“Who is it?” Asked Elizabeth excitedly as she clapped her hands rapidly.
A question Aries and Ariel knew the answer to, the second he cleared his throat.
“Our beloved hostess. Alpha Feyrouz.” He continued, with a smirk as he got up out of his seat and headed towards her.
She looked like a deer caught in headlights. Paralyzed with fear, embarrassment, frustration, and disbelief.
Towering over her as she sat stiffly at the other head of the table, she angrily glared at him.
Ella and Jackson noticed her anger and mind-linked her questioningly.
She blocked them out as she gritted her teeth and clenched her jaws while she stared at him fiercely.
Her reached out and forcefully held her hand in his.
He ignored the fire that danced on his skin and she gasped at the mere contact of their flesh while she tried desperately to pull her hand from his searing grip.
Butterflies fluttered in her stomach bumping into each other everywhere, sending shivers up her spine with one simple touch. She hated it.
She tried to resist his magnitude that literally sucked her in, trying to release herself from his hand, but he wouldn’t budge. He gripped her hand firmly enough that she couldn’t escape but gently so he wouldn’t hurt her. Then he pulled it to his lips, before pressing a soft kiss on the back of her hand.
His lips sent electric bolts of excitement all over her body, and he enjoyed every minute of it.
She tried to hide it, but she was failing miserably. Their attraction was undeniably visible to everyone but Feyrouz but seeing how he affected her, she was starting to realize how difficult it was going to be for her to resist him.
Mustering up all the strength she had, she ripped her hand from his captivity.
“I will never, be your mate.” She growled at him.
Aries laughed, making her snap her attention to him.
“Why are you laughing?” She snarled irritably.
“Cause you Alpha women, you’re all the same.” He said with a broad smile, as he looked at his uncle, “Good luck with that Hades, I finished my torturous journey and won my well deserved gift. If she’s anything like Jake, then you’ve got a handful, so we’ll get out of your hair and leave you two, I’m guessing the traveling stops here?”
Hades nodded.
Ariel nudged her mate, “Stop bothering her, let’s leave, we’ll come back later to check up on you two.” She said, turning her gaze at the Alpha’s brother, “Right Jake?”
Jake rolled his eyes, “Yeah, yeah, i’ll let them be, he ain’t getting any sugar anytime soon anyway.” He jested as he ruffled his sister’s hair, receiving a growl in reply.
Everyone filtered out in a matter of seconds, except of Xavier.
He lived there, and it was awkward for him. He didn’t know what to do.
He cleared his throat, “Well, um, i’ll be in my room in the west wing, if you need anything Aloha Fey.”
Hades raised a brow at this revelation but kept quiet.
Fey nodded silently at Xavier’s statement.
“Will you show me to my room?” Hades questioned coldly.
Feyrouz looked up at him with a curled lip, ”Fine.” She gritted out before getting out of her seat and rushing out to the hall.
Hades stalked behind her silently, going up the lavish stairs and heading towards the east wing and stopping at one of the multiple doors they passed.
“Here this is your suite, i’m sure the big bad king of the underworld could manage on his own, hmm?”
“Yes, of course. You showing me around would simply have been a matter of tact, something you obviously seem to lack.” He spat at her, before opening the door to his suite, “Get one you your lackeys to get my bags,” he ordered her and slammed the door behind him before she could say a word.
A growl emitted from behind the door as she stomped away to her room, which he tracked to somewhere in the east wing.
So the games have begun, and Hades won this round.
Hades 1, Feyrouz 0.
