Ryder leaned against the desk near the window, his breathing steadying but his body still weak. Kyra stepped closer, a determined look in her eyes. “I have an idea,” she said softly. “Can I try something?” Ryder shrugged, his lips curving slightly into a smirk. “Be my guest.” Kyra reached out and carefully unwrapped part of the bandage from Ryder’s shoulder. She moved closer, her scent washing over him. His heart raced as her presence filled the space between them. Kyra hesitated for only a moment, then leaned in and gently ran her tongue across one of the cuts. Ryder inhaled sharply, but before he could question her actions, the wound began to close, healing before his eyes. “How did you do that?” Ryder asked, his voice filled with awe. Kyra pulled back, shrugging lightly. “I don’t know. When I was little, a friend of mine hurt themselves, and I did the same thing. It healed them, but… they called me a freak and ran away.” Ryder’s expression softened, his eyes filled with sympathy. “You’re not a freak,” he said firmly. “You’re a miracle.” A small smile tugged at Kyra’s lips, the warmth in Ryder’s words soothing something deep inside her. She carefully unwrapped more of the bandages and moved to the wounds on Ryder’s side. Slowly, she leaned in and repeated the process, her tongue tracing over the gashes as they mended under her touch. Ryder shivered at the sensation, the pain fading with each gentle stroke. His heart raced, and he fought to keep his composure, his body screaming to pull her closer. As Kyra worked, she, too, felt a growing tension within herself, an almost magnetic pull toward Ryder that she couldn’t ignore. Her pulse quickened, and her breathing grew heavier. When she moved to his shoulder, she found herself even closer to him. The scent of his skin and the heat radiating from his body sent shivers down her spine. She ran her tongue up his neck to finish healing the last wound. A low growl of pleasure rumbled in Ryder’s chest, and Kyra couldn’t help but smile coyly at his reaction. She stepped back to check for any remaining injuries and noticed a small cut on his bottom lip. Her eyes, heavy with passion, lingered on his lips. Ryder’s gaze met hers, his own eyes darkened with desire. Slowly, Kyra leaned in, her tongue gently brushing against his bottom lip. The cut vanished, but the sensation ignited something in Ryder. A fire exploded in his chest, and at that exact moment, the clock struck midnight. Kyra gasped softly, an overwhelming sensation flooding her senses. It was as if a powerful pull connected her to Ryder, and suddenly, she could feel his emotions as if they were her own. Her eyes widened as the realization hit her—it was her birthday, and the mate bond had finally activated. Ryder was her mate. Before she could fully process the revelation, Ryder’s hands cupped her face with a gentleness that belied the intensity in his eyes, and he kissed her passionately. Kyra’s body reacted instinctively, her lips parting to welcome him as waves of sensation rippled through her. She moaned softly, her hands finding their way to his chest, tracing the hard lines of his muscles. Ryder growled low in his throat, his restraint slipping as his hands explored her body. He pulled her closer, his fingers grazing the hem of her shirt before lifting it over her head, exposing her bare skin. His kisses trailed down her neck, eliciting soft gasps from Kyra as she tangled her fingers in his hair. His lips brushed the top of her breast, and a sudden wave of panic surged through her. Kyra pulled away, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment. Ryder looked at her, concern etched on his face. “I’m sorry. Did I hurt you?” Kyra shook her head quickly. “No, it’s not that. It’s just… I’ve never…” Her voice trailed off, and her cheeks turned an even deeper shade of red. Ryder’s eyes softened as realization dawned on him. The thought that she’d never been with anyone before made his pulse race, but he pushed his own desires aside, his love and respect for her taking precedence. With a gentle voice, he said, “If you’re not ready, it’s fine. I don’t want to make you do anything you’re not comfortable with. I…” He hesitated, the words I love you on the tip of his tongue, but he held back. “I care for you a lot.” Kyra’s chest tightened, her emotions flooding her. She could feel his restraint, his respect, and his overwhelming need for her. The knowledge that he was willing to set aside his own desires for her comfort ignited a fire within her. Without thinking, she crashed her lips into his, kissing him with all the passion she had been holding back. Ryder responded immediately, scooping her up effortlessly and laying her gently on the bed, their lips never parting. Ryder gently ran his hands around her body. He unbuttoned her pants and slid them off, her body was perfect and flawless. Kyra helped him undo his pants, Kyra breath caught in the throat when she saw him. He was rock hard and huge, Ryder kicked off his pants and positioned himself. Desire building up in Kyra’s body with a little bit of fear, would it hurt? She thought. Feeling her emotions Ryder forced himself to wait he asked, “Are you sure you’re ready?” Kyra breathed heavy and nodded kissing his lips. Ryder slowly entered into her working it in slowly stretching her. Small waves of pain mixed with pleasure filled Kyra’s body, she gasped when Ryder finally made it all the way in. The sound she made, made Ryders control slip, he slowly thrusted moving faster with each thrust. Kyra moan and gasped with each move. Ryder loved the sounds she made, they were so sweet to his ears. She was so tight around him making him thrust harder. Kyra’s breath catching in her throat letting out soft airy moans, arching her back. She wrapped her legs around Ryder and rolled him over so she was on top. Kyra giggled making Ryder smile, she looked so beautiful with the moonlight making her bare skin glow. Kyra started bouncing on top of Ryder making him moan with pleasure, his hands exploring her chest. Kyra felt her pleasure building up very close to the edge, she moved faster and she finally reached her release. She lightly squealed Ryders name shaking with pleasure, Ryder quickly flipped her back on her back, thrusting hard and fast. One last thrust was all Ryder needed to full her with his c*m, he moaned her name in her neck. Ryder collapsed next to her both breathing heavy. Ryder and Kyra lay wrapped in each other’s arms as the moonlight filtered softly through the window. The snow outside continued to fall, blanketing the resort in silence. Ryder ran his fingers gently down Kyra’s back, his touch soothing and protective. He broke the silence with a quiet murmur. “Are you okay? I didn’t hurt you, did I? I know I can be… a little intense.” His voice carried genuine concern. Kyra smiled against his chest, her fingers lazily tracing the lines of his muscles. “It was perfect,” she whispered. “Better than I ever imagined.” Her cheeks flushed slightly, but she didn’t look away. Ryder chuckled, a low sound that vibrated in his chest. “Well, I’m glad to hear that,” he said playfully. “I was worried I might be a bit rusty.” Kyra propped herself up on one elbow, her burgundy eyes catching the moonlight. “Can I ask you something?” Her tone turned serious. Ryder nodded, his expression softening. “Of course.” “Did you know about me before Theo and Sally admitted what they did? Before they put me in the hospital?” Kyra’s voice was steady, but there was a hint of vulnerability beneath her words. Ryder hesitated for a moment before answering. “I had my suspicions,” he admitted. “Something about you always felt… different. Not in a bad way,” he quickly added, “but in a way I couldn’t quite explain.” Ryder’s expression turned solemn. He shifted slightly, pulling Kyra closer. “Kyra, there’s something I need to tell you,” he said, his voice low but serious. She looked at him curiously, her head tilted slightly. “What is it?” Ryder swallowed hard, clearly trying to find the right words. “Sally and Theodore… they’re not your real family.” Kyra froze, her heart skipping a beat. “What?” she whispered, her voice barely audible. Ryder continued, his tone gentle but firm. “They owed Rodrick a favor. He gave you to them, and they raised you as their own.” Kyra stared at him in stunned silence, processing his words. Part of her wanted to be shocked, but deep down, she wasn’t. “Honestly,” she said after a moment, “I think I already knew.” Ryder frowned slightly, confused. “Really? How?” Kyra shrugged, her gaze distant as she reflected. “We didn’t have a mind-link like normal families do. And every time I went into heat, Theodore would mysteriously have a ‘medical emergency’ to take care of for a week. No other female had to deal with that.” Ryder’s eyes softened with sympathy as he reached up to brush her hair from her face. “You deserved so much better than them, Kyra,” he said softly. She smiled at the tender gesture but then rolled onto her stomach, propping herself up on her elbows. Her face turned serious. “So how is this going to work, Ryder?” His brow furrowed. “What do you mean?” Kyra sighed, her fingers idly tracing the pattern on the sheets. “We’re mates now. Wyatt is still out there, and he knows where I am. If he finds out about us, he’ll kill you.” Her voice wavered slightly at the thought. Ryder shifted onto his side, his intense gaze locking with hers. His tone was firm and unwavering. “Wyatt will never touch you again,” he said, his voice low but filled with conviction. “And if he tries, I’ll kill him.” Kyra’s breath caught in her throat. The sheer determination and protectiveness in Ryder’s voice sent a rush of warmth through her chest. She leaned forward, her lips capturing his in a kiss that was equal parts gratitude and passion. Ryder pulled her closer, and they lost themselves in each other once again. For the rest of the night, their connection only deepened. They made love again and again, unable to get enough of each other. It wasn’t just physical—it was emotional, raw, and unspoken. By the time they fell asleep, tangled together beneath the blankets, the first rays of dawn were just beginning to break.
