*BEEP BEEP BEEP* Kyra growls at the sound of her alarm, she taps the button to turn it off and pulls the blanks back over her head. A few minutes later the alarm went off again, *BEEP BEEP BEEP* Kyra grabbed the alarm clock, ripping it out from the wall and tossed it to the side. She sighed with irritation, she laid her head down again so she can get a few more minutes of sleep. *BEEP BEEP BEEP* Kyra’s eyes flew open, “You got to be f*****g kidding me.” She took a deep breath, “Whatever I’m f*****g awake now.” Kyra got up from her air mattress and started walking to the bathroom, kicking her alarm clock out of the way. She brushed her hair and teeth, she grabbed an outfit out of a box. A black cozy, oversized knit sweater with a ribbed texture and an off-the-shoulder neckline showing her beautiful porcelain skin. She wore jeggings that hugged her curves from hip to ankle, creating a sleek, sexy silhouette with a high waist that flattered and accentuates her shape. She threw her hair up in a high ponytail letting a few strands fall framing her face, she put on some light makeup. Black eyeliner and shadow making her eyes stand out, Mute Rose Matte lipstick giving her lips a soft, dusty rose shade with a muted, elegant finish. To pull it all together she slid on her black boots stopped just under her knee, the top was a light and dark grey knitted. Black leather with a gold zipper and a brown buckle strap going across, she grabbed her black backpack that had only a few note books, binders, pens and pencils in it. Kyra slumped down the stairs, her back aches a little from the air mattress. She walked into the kitchen and grabbed a thermos and just filled it with black coffee. “I’ll be going to the store this morning to get food and other stuff, here’s twenty to get breakfast at Dunkin’s . There’s one on your way to school, get a sandwich or something.” Theodore said handing her some money, but Kyra waved it off and took a sip of her coffee. “I’m good all I need is coffee.” Theodore sighed and tucked the money in her front pocket, “Well you’re stilling going to need lunch money, just take it. While we’re out what size bed do you want, we’re just going to try and get everything today and tomorrow before we start our new jobs.” Kyra shook her head while finishing her coffee, she took off the top and filled it back up again. “Don’t bother, we’re probably not going to be here long anyway. Don’t waste the money, my air mattress is fine. Bye!” Before Theodore could argue Kyra was already out the door and down the driveway. He just shook his head, “That girl, so stubborn.” Sally was unpacking the plates and bowls into the cabinets, “You can’t blame her, poor girls been though things she shouldn’t have. I know she remembers the abuse that Wyatt caused, I hear her crying in her sleep. It breaks my heart, it’s going to take a lot of time for her to feel safe Theo. We just need to be patient and be there for her.” Theodore wrinkled his nose at the thought of Wyatt, as soon as Wyatt found out what Kyra was he wanted her. He became obsessed with the idea of breeding a powerful hybrid army, so obsessed that he killed his own mate so he could take Kyra as his chosen. When Kyra refused he took her, he beat her and tortured her until she broke but she never did. Theodore carried a tremendous amount of guilt, he tried to protect her but Wyatt threatened to kill him and Sally if they intervened. Until he finally was about to sneak her out, they’ve been on the run since. So looking at it that way Theodore can understand why Kyra felt the way she did, but he knew deep down they were finally safe. The Bloodstone Pack was the safest pack in the region and Ryder was also one of the strongest Alphas. Theodore nodded his head and finished his coffee, “Ok let’s go, let’s pick something nice out she’ll like that will help her feel more at home and safe.” Sally smiled and closed the cabinets, “I have something perfect in mind.” Kyra walked down the street into town, she didn’t realize how close everything was. She walked by the bowling alley they drove past, she stop and peeked though the window. She noticed it also had a nightclub attached to it, Kyra liked to dance. She continued to walked down the street, she rounded a corner and saw the High School. Lots of kids hanging around outside talking to friends, throwing footballs around. Kyra took a deep breath and started walking closer, she could already tell some of the clicks. She saw a group of nerds grouped up studying for a test, a group of girls watching the jocks throw around a football, a group of teens doing push up drills and just other teens walking around. The bell rang and everyone scattered like cockroaches, Kyra ran up the stairs and though the front doors. Everyone was scrambling at their lockers, grabbing their books and stuff. Then another bell rang and everyone disappeared into their classrooms, the hallways were silent and empty. Kyra walked into the front office, there was a giant desk with a little old lady sitting behind it. “Why hello darling, you must be Kyra Brooks.” She said with a looking over her reading glasses, she had short grey hair and dark amber brown eyes. Kyra felt embarrassed that they already knew who she was, she forced a smile “That’s me, I’m not sure where I’m supposed to go. I didn’t get a map of my classes yet.” The lady pulled out her filing cabinet under her desk and shuffled through some folders. She pulled out one with Kyra’s name on it. “There you go, it has all your classes and what times they start. When your study halls, lunch and free periods are.” Kyra looked at the paper and felt overwhelmed, she wanted to run out of there and go home. The paper had a list of classes with times, floors, room numbers and more. The lady saw the stress on Kyra’s face, she looked over to another girl down the desk “Allie, would you mind helping Kyra to her classes? You two practically have the same schedule.” A short little girl looked over with a big smile. She had a soft, rounded face with full lips, a straight nose, and almond-shaped eyes with a calm, reflective look. Her dark, shoulder-length hair frames her face, adding to her natural and refined appearance. “Of course, it’s not as overwhelming as it looks. I felt the same way when I first started, it took me a day or two to get it down. Come on we have math first, that’s on the second floor.” Kyra smiled then looked at the lady, “Thank you.” The lady winked, “You’re in good hands, I’m here all day if you need anything.” Then she went back to typing in her computer. Kyra followed Allie out of the office and down the hall, the school was huge. “So where are you from?” Allie asked. Kyra hesitated, she didn’t really know how to answer. “Um.. Honestly we’ve moved around so much I really don’t remember where we started out.” Allie nodded, “I get it, we moved around too before we ended up here, the Bloodstone pack is very nice. And their Alpha is smoking hot for an old guy, he’s turning 50 in a few days. Have you met him yet?” Kyra’s eyes widened, “50?! He looks like he’s in his middle twenties!” Allie chuckled, “I’ll take that as a yes, you have met him. All the single she-wolves have been chasing him, a few are turning 18 on the next full moon and their hoping they’d get to be his ‘second mate’ but it’s a long shot.” Kyra stopped walking and looked at Allie confused, “Aren’t second mates rare to come by?” Allie looked at her with sad eyes, “All I know is the elders said even though it’s very rare to find a second mate, it is possible but if he doesn’t find one this full moon celebration then he has to find a ‘chosen mate’ or our pack will be left vulnerable.” If an alpha werewolf doesn’t have an heir, the pack can face uncertainty and potential instability. Alphas are often seen as the pack’s leader and protector, and the lack of a designated successor can create tension among the members. Without a clear successor, the pack may become vulnerable to outside threats, such as rogue werewolves or other packs, who might attempt to take control. “Here we are, math my favorite subject.” Allie said scrunching her nose. Kyra smirked, “Yeah I’m not a fan either.” Allie shifted her weight, leaning in a little closer to Kyra and rose her eyebrows “You know, I could show you something else that’s more ‘interesting’.” Kyra shrugged, she s probably not going to be here long anyway so what does it matter “Sure lead the way.” Allie jumped with excitement and skipped down the hallway to the door at the end of the hallway. It lead outside to a football field behind the school, the field was bigger then a normal football field. Kyra looked at the bleachers and saw a bunch of girls spread out watching the field. The field had groups of guys stretching with no shirts, no shoes only gym shorts. Kyra couldn’t help but think about how underwhelming it was, Allie brought her to watch the guys practice football. Well it’s better than math class, she thought. They sat down near the middle area close to the end, “I know what you’re thinking ‘Big deal a bunch of hot shirtless football players’ Just wait.” Allie said moving her hands around. Kyra giggled a little, a nice breeze rolled by moving her ponytail. The sun was shining warming up her face, she closed her eyes and basking in the warmth. She almost forgot where she was and why, a loud whistle filled the air making Kyra snap her eyes open. As she opened her eyes she saw all the guys on the field take off their shorts and throwing them on the sidelines, leaving them completely naked. Kyra felt her cheeks burn red, her whole body started to tingle. Allie giggled and nodded her head, “Now do you get why all the girls skip class to come here.” Kyra choked out a giggle.
