Chapter 11: Burning

I flew to the side, the Cannibal rushing past me, leaving a trail of fire; I felt something drag me down. I was pulled right into the thing's stream of fire with myself forming a bark barrier to block most of the blast. I severed the tentacles, the source of the fire and sent the Cannibal tumbling down with a spin of my wings. I dove with a solar beam charging in my mouth. I released the beam, but it pushed itself to the side with fire from its palms, the beam gliding past. It spun and stretched its regenerated tentacles towards me. They grabbed hold, and another spin sent me slamming to the ground; rising, I saw it walking towards me, stretching its whole body as usual

"Change of plan," it said as its body began smoking, "I was born a Pyromancer, so its best to fight with what I was born with; with a few additions." It said as its arms catching fire, the fire split into bursts with a wave. No matter how hard I tried, I could not sense it nor predict its path. I jumped and flew far out of their path and retaliated with my own burst of solar, with its leaping out of the way with its tentacles. I saw the fire build and concentrate at its palms, with itself rushing towards me.

 Even though I was airborne, it leapt up to meet me. With two blasts, my wings were torn off, sending me tumbling with it grabbing hold of me. With the fire this close, my body became charred. However, my head was free, so I prepared another solar strike with the fire swirling faster in response. I struck first, the beam slicing through its body, the two halves falling and each releasing its blast. My wings regenerating, and a flap sent me clear of the lingering blaze. I landed and awaited its arrival. If I joined the battle, it would come for me, and I knew I would not survive if it did. Knowing that I did my best to restore my lost energy.

Above Livigon fought the heads, himself struggling with the new environment. Despite dealing little damage himself, a flying Cannibal still crept from a skull and flew after him, with it being disintegrated by a solar flying serpent Dragon.

"You must not end up like your sister; stay close," it said.

"We should help her," he replied.

"No, he knows she wishes to stay."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I awaited its arrival, and seeing it the Wyrm-Devourer move farther and farther away, I knew I had fallen for its trap. Another one came crashing down in front of me.

"Much thanks for waiting patiently for your death," it said, holding its arms out "I know that must be hard, like uh, I know I'm about to just me ******* die already," it said as its entire body became enveloped by that fire. "Now where were we, a yes, I was to not come close to you, well good ******* luck with that," it said. Fireballs and streams shot towards me, so I formed a bark barrier to hold the fire back, the plate burned away, so I had to keep creating them. Despite its lethality, when it was near, I felt my solar magic grow stronger, "tell me, can you sense this fire?" It asked, "I have fought Dragons before, and you do not dodge like them at all."

"No," I answered with a solar laser with it leaping to the side.

"Thought so; this fire isn't made with elemental energy; it's made with organs I've been able to grow thanks to this body." I would not let its words distract me, so I pressed the attack whilst dodging it answered.

"Since I have fire magic, I can control all fire, even this type," it said. "How long can you keep this **** up?" It roared. A fireball shot towards me; I raised another plate, it was not struck, but I felt my sides burning. I flew up to see them collide and shot after me, only to be blocked by the bark. That was how I would destroy it. I made the whole outer layer vine to sense the fire and regenerated the burnt skin. Above, I sensed a swarm of meteors coming for me and looking down, I saw streams of fire coming for me in the form of claws. I soared round to strike, not letting it keep me in the air. As I did it two spun around, the hands wiping through the air. I had to focus on the meteors, but as I did the two hands grasped for me, I dodged out of one's path, I felt half my skin burning, so I flapped to the side. Only to be caught in the second. 

The first clamped around me, and I turned my outer shell to thick, concentrated bark. I tried to escape, but the fire seemed solid. The hands pulled me towards the Cannibal until I saw its pale face. Despite the blaze, its head was undamaged. I saw head-fur the same colour of its skin bundled as if something was between it and the fire.

"Let's see how long you ******* last," it repeated as the fire surrounding its body swirled around me and compacted. I felt my insides turning to ash and my outer layer cracking.This body was doomed, but not my core. Its tentacles were at the ready, and its eyes were planted on me, "best to wait until all that **** you can use is burned away." I charged solar magic within myself, "a a a, what the **** are you planning, well whatever the **** it is, I can deflect it." By Eldragoon, how did it know? But it would still be blinded. I elongated my tail until it was outside the fire and touched the ground to pretend I was using it to regenerate. "you want to ******* regenerate, that's fine. It'll still cost some energy."

I opened my mouth, the fire beginning to flow inside, but I fired the thick beam, the tentacles moving to block. As the Monster was distracted, I moved my core to the tip of my tail, charging it as I went. It snarled. Before the tentacles tore into my tail, I whipped it upward, flinging my core skyward. One of them grabbed but let go as the pure elemental energy destroyed the claws. It only took a few seconds for my body to reform, and with a flick, I sent my previous body tumbling atop the Cannibal. I dived, preparing another solar laser to blast it into nothing with one shot. I saw it hurl my last body and skitter away on its tentacles. I would not fire. I landed and fired the beam with it spinning out its path. "You fool I can sense everything elemental, just like you, I know whatever the **** you are going to do before you even do it."

"We shall see how you compare!" I roared with a sweeping solar laser, it leaping out of the way. I rose an army of tendrills to swarm after it, with a spin of the Creature's, they fell, but a thick one was outside its range. I slammed the Monster to the ground into a ground of bark spikes, but it grasped the vine and spun to keep clear. It sent a barrage of fireballs towards me, so I flew to the side; still airborne, I saw it grab a meteor and hurl it towards myself at an even greater speed. The sun rock shot right through my chest; it held another and propelled it towards me, myself stretching the existing wound to allow it to pass through. It latched on to another and hurtled towards me with fire in its hands. I knew it was homing in on me with its magic, so I held my ground, before it stuck, I leapt back, and at where I once stood, a bark pillar burst from the ground to knock the rock upwards.

The Cannibal was sent upwards and right into a swinging vine. It flew to the side, into another and impaled by a bark spike. I fired a solar laser, but as the Monster held its arms up, my attack was held back by a wall of light brown.

I doubted the same would hold back the spike exploding, so I held it by growing the bark and its body. But with a mere push, the Monster freed itself the flesh parting. I went to strike with the lance it was impaled on, but a jet of fire it boosted towards me and began its burning assault. It hurled fire to the side, to the front all whilst the meteors rained down. I felt my skin burning all over, so I flew back with the fireballs combing and soaring towards me.

I fried a solar beam, it dispersing the fire as they collided. To my sides, I felt the vine ground burning, so I leapt and fired a split shot to crash into the two fireballs. I landed, and a large wave of fire swept towards me, I ran to the side, but it turned after me and lurched up. I snarled and flew into the air. I saw the fire around its body fly towards me, and I shot down each one.

Through the fire, I could see that its skin had burned black as shadow, the fire had even caught the tentacles, and it was attacking less. I fired off several shots paying attention to the Cannibal's movements. I lossed them in a way that it would be forced to dodge with its tentacles. I fired a laser followed by a split shot at its feet, it sidestepped the beam and leapt out of range, but even though it was not controlling fire, it still moved its hands to the side.

"A use your plate please," it said, "damit a bio earth user'd have worked so much better," I saw it lower its body and pull the fire from its body into a ball, "your gonna need a really ******* big wall to block this," it said. The flames burst forth, but I leapt up with the heat from below sending me higher.

I saw the black flesh of the Monster turn pale from its centre. I dove and primed a large solar laser. It looked up and seemed shocked to see me; I fired, it leaping back on its tentacles. If they did not crumble to dust, the Cannibal stumbling down, with my laser disintegrated its unburnt head and all other flesh.

I could have travelled closer to the Wyrm-torn, but an idea formed in my core, and a bark spear spun in my mouth. I saw it had formed wings by creating a membrane between its tentacles and propelling its self forward with fire from its feet and hands. Once it was in range, I released the energy and shot the spike. It blew through one side of its tentacles and sent it tumbling through the air. A laser destroyed much of its body, and the earth did the rest. If I could destroy its brain, that would assist our fight, if only in a small way. A short while later, I felt its fire, but it was a blur. A blur that looked larger than before and coming towards me, I soared back as the Monster slammed down the ground, lowering as might smashed down.

"Hi, it's me again," the Monster said. Its new shape of a Standing-drake with eight tentacles over the tail and the small arms near the large. "Now this **** is for real," it said as I saw it swing one of its massive arms, I flew upwards, but light orange slammed into me and sent to flying. I was sent down as it crashed the other arm into me, "not so nice when it ******* happens to you," it snarled, "just hold on a bit, it'll take a while for the fire to start again. I merged with the ground, and I felt it grab after me. When I rose, its arms were raised with fire swirling, "I ******* lied," it said as its arms fell the fire flowing along the ground. I flew up with the flames giving chase as the smaller arms rose.

 I charged my front and dived towards the head with it swaying out of the way; the fire still followed. I turned to see the flames split around the Monster, reform and burst towards me; I flew to the side as they dispersed. When they did, it turned with a giant ball of fire on each hand, one fired, I flew high, and I felt the ground char below. It pointed the second at me and fired, myself flying to the side with the fire pushing me along, I whipped around and fired a beam at its head with the Monster moving to the side. It tapped its head.

"So you've figured it out, huh, well let me just tell you this," it said whilst it unleashed another plume of flames which I dodged. "There is only one thing separating myself and boss from those basic Devourers.

"Intelligence," I answered, the Monster looking surprised.

"Yeah, that's right, actually," it said as it swung an arm leaving fire in its path, myself countering with a large beam which bore through its body. "And that intelligence lets us hold our forms, I have my own flesh reserves from boss!" It roared as its arms crashed down, the nearby area becoming engulfed in red it stopped for a brief moment as it tried to grab me with its tentacles; myself giving them a wide berth.

"Basically, what I'm saying is destroy my head, and my body will become mindless, grow to around ten times my current size and kill you. The only reason I am not doing that, now," it grunted as it spun its body, causing all eight tentacles to whip at once. I raised a bark wall to block, then pushed back to send the Monster spinning, giving me a chance to fire and a lingering exploding shot. I pulled the wall back to cut the Cannibal in half with the force and crushed it. A hand broke through the bark, with the rest coming soon after, "o my ******* god ***** let me finish before you attack me!" it said as it's now draconic maw blasted a wall of might to push me back. When I steadied myself, I saw its jaws move but could hear no sound, its voice as weak as a fleeting gust.

"WHAT!" I cried back, with it crashing down in front of me in a single bound it clenching the sides of its head.

"Do you have to be so ******* loud?" I flashed a burst of solar energy right into its eyes; it staggering back for a brief moment. I charged my tail and flipped with my tail swinging upwards. Upwards into the claws of a tentacle which hauled me upwards, "my, you're a clever little *****, aren't you. Able to find our sensory difference that quickly, but I can still sense what you do even if I'm blind and deaf." I tried to fire a breath attack, but my body was hard to move upside down, the Monster responding by binding grasping my every limb. "Anyway, why I don't is because it is rather hard to control that much flesh. You are a fool, guard stops everything, now gimme that ******* soul of yours." It said as two tentacles pulled my chest open with their claws, and I felt my core touch open-air and explode in range.

"Get your filthy claws off me!" I snarled through a closed jaw, "you do not deserve to kill me," the Monster just stared at me. It touched me for only a moment, and I felt myself cracking. I strained my neck forward to see the Monster hold up a smoking claw which quickly regenerated, "how the **** do I get this thing out? I'll leave it to the boss." It said as a blob of flesh emerged from its neck, "yeah, I know boss, but this **** is like getting deep-fried chicken out the pan. Look, this is what you do, and you can't even feel fear. What's that," in my core I felt my energy built, and I had a clean shot. As I unleashed it, the Monster dodged to the side and lunged at me, only to have a thorn decimate each. I felt one strike my core to calm the beam into nothing.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------"Man, I didn't sense those," the Cannibal said as more thorns punched through his body, "where the **** is it," he said again, setting his arms alight. A thorn rushed past his head.

"Return, flesh be destroyed," the Wyrm Devourer sent as more thorns broke through the body, it turning to pale mush with him no longer to even raise his arms or stand. He looked up to see a colossal thorn falling towards himself.

"A **** ok pull me back, abort abort!" but his body was being pulled back before he even started, his limbs being pulled into themselves until nothing was left.
