Chapter 14: Drastic Methods

Livigon stayed with all the plant Dragons as they returned home. He was sure to carefully slow himself, and once the group dispersed, and he knew that none were focused on himself, he flew to the tree.  Though when he reached his birthplace, he stopped and scanned the area for his brother and found him in the same spot. "Come out, Tenolgon," he said, being sure to keep his voice gentle, and after a few moments, vines rose from the ground and formed into his brother's glaring head. "What do you want?" He asked, "I am not going to, if that is what you are about to ask." "No, I know a way that can end this war and all others for good."  Tenolgon's features rose upon hearing those words, "will I be at risk?" he asked, leaning his head in; the only part of his body visible. "I do not think you will need to fight, but your skills will be beneficial, and I am sure you will be protected. "Then let us go," he said, "lead the way." "Good," Livigon answered as he hovering in the air. "Do not fly," his brother snarled with him landing, "we will harder to spot if we walked." "Can you fly?" He asked. "I have never even tried. I can not see any need to," Tenolgon replied, "besides, if someone intercepts us, I can form a tunnel and get us out." Livigon complied and lead him on foot, out of the clear land and into a forest with trees though gigantic were nothing compared to the Devourers.  He shivered just slightly upon entering, his brother swaying his head, and after they were deep into the forest, sighed. "What is it, brother? He asked. "How did you know?" Livigon replied. "When you want to avoid conflict, you learn to read the emotions of others." "Very well," he said, breathing in, "the last time I was in a forest, it turned out to a Wyrm Devourer, and I would have been killed if I did not get out in time." Tenolgon lowered and vibrated his head after his brother's words. "Now you know how I always feel," he said. "Any near? Livigon asked. "I sense none behind us though I believe I know where you are taking me now." "I am sure you will be of use," he said and looking down, he asked, "how are you doing this? "It is nothing more than unravelling my body, moving it through the ground and pulling myself along. Though, I am sure I can much more with the practice that I have been doing. To be honest, it was one of the only things that I could improve," Tenolgon replied. "Does it not cause your core pain? Livigon asked, "altering your form like that, you are practically a Dweller." "It did not at first. It was just like ground-merging. However, my core was the thing limiting my mobility." "No." "I broke it up into tiny pieces so I could thin my vines and burrowed better." "Will you ever be whole again?" Livigon asked with concern. "When I am stronger, I am sure I will be able to, though I am sure that I am only a sapling in terms of what I can do now," he said, raising his front legs and waving them. "Is this that the place?" He asked, pointing to a tree larger than the others. "Yes," Livigon answered. The two walked towards the tree, its side opening when they got close, and they entered. "Just to let you know he will talk to you through your core," and before his brother could talk, he spoke. "Show yourself," he both thought and said with the purple head materialising. "Yes?" The asked with Tenolgon's body shifting and swaying, it must be uncomfortable with his body, Livigon thought. "I want to join your cause," Tenolgon said, "and please do not talk to my cores," the force instead talked to Livigon, who reladed the message to Tenolgon. "He is asking if you are sure." "Yes," Tenolgon replied. "The majority of our race will be fed to the Wyrm Devourers," Livigon said. wait, really," he said on his own, "along with the Elemontols and all the Smooth-skins not with us." "So long as the world after is safe, yes." "He is saying you can either stay here or go to other earth with the Humans. That what the Smooth-skins are called and the other creations, though your power will be halved. Or you can remain here." "How do I reach this other world?" Tenolgon asked. "He says that if you travel to the world wall, you will find an entrance near the border," Livigon said. "And there is nothing I can do here," he asked. "Not here, though he is asking if you believe that you can tunnel through hard substances. "Can it withstand solar disintegration?" "No, I do not believe it can," Livigon replied. "Then it shall be no problem for myself," Tenolgon said before sinking into the ground. "Perfect," the voice said, "that material can not be manced by earth Dragons though I am sure that will change in the new world. "I know who you are, and I know what you did," Livigon said abruptly. "O, and who do you believe I am. Livigon." "That is the thing, your elements, how you are able to communicate with me and how you are able to read my core, to know my name." "Continue. I want to hear it from yourself." "First, I thought about what kingdom you belonged to earth, air, fire, water, undead and mine were out of the question. I thought about undead as you were communicating with my core, my soul. But what you are doing is at a much higher than soul reading. "Indeed, soul-fire magic can only sense souls and their current status along with burning souls." "Knew it, anyway that left arcane and mechanical, I know that you are not a mechanical Dragon even with my limited knowledge. So that makes you an arcane Dragon." "But what is my name, and what did I do? I will not read your core." The head, spinning with the words. "I know you are either a Primordagon, a Firstborn or a Primordial for us to communicate when the arcane kingdom is on the other side of the world," Livigon stated. "That does not narrow it down all that much. Even a Primordagon can achieve this feat with enough training," the voice said. "There it is, you know the capabilities of Arcane Dragons. That suggests you are above them and that you have studied their strengths, Livigon said with the head looking surprised. "So glad I did not take this from your core," the voice replied. "You talk about regaining the old world, of freeing it from its wretched state and advancing the Dragon race. That is highly likely something one of the very first Dragons will say, so you are a Primordial, and your name is Enordial." "How did you reach that conclusion?" The voice asked. "Good, you confirm it, well Acidra told me herself when one brought your name up after the Wyrm-torn battle." "O, that is a shame," Enordial said. "And you put those apart from Mechordial to sleep to recover. Why." "I did it for my children." "But you killed four of your Firstborn." "Them. No, I did it and all of this for my real children, Mages, Shifters and the Draan. Even though they came from Humans, those who started the Devourer virus and killed all those they got their hands on, I could not hate them. I admired them for their ability to stand up and even win against us, with nothing but their minds and the hands they were born with. In my eyes, that is far better than simply being born with power in your blood," Enordial said. "But why did you kill them?" Livigon asked. "My brothers and sisters disapproved of my actions. They gave me time to stop. I refused and instead sent my true children to hunt them down, for if I was seen, they would have attacked me. My Firstborn came from me. If if they were returned to me, that power would also return. I do not hate them, it was just a case of survival, if they did not come back to me, I would have been killed; I am sure your brother knows what that is like," he replied. "Very well," said Livigon, "so how are we going to get that Monster back from destruction?" "That will be simple, Livigon. It was never destroyed to begin with. Your queen just destroyed one of its bodies. You see, the Devourers can split themselves apart with each part sharing a consciousness. Wyrm forms are just the only ones to realise and take advantage of this." "Then how by Ominomgon do we locate it." "That is where I come in," Enordial said, "Biordial is still conscious and can sense all Dragons in the world, but she is also connected to the entirety of the plant kingdom. So if a Dragon walks, she would be able to feel them." "So you link to her core and then find the one that is moving but is not a Dragon." "Absolutely, its retrieval is essential for a peaceful world." "And you are sure the Elemontols will kill them, during the battle the one were facing gained the ability to absorb elements." "I am sure that happened as its elemental energy levels were stable. But if one could devour more than their bodies could handle, they would self destruct in a blast of raw elemental energy. I have calculated the exact amount of energy to give them for them to kill those who remain and then destroy the Elemontols," Enordial said with no sympathy for those against him. "But what if there were no Dragons?" Livigon asked. "Then they would be able to destroy the Elemontol race, but they would live, and as the two worlds fuse, they would cross over. That would be enough to destroy us. The numbers of Dragons with me is nothing compared to those against me." "Is there another reason for this plan?" Livigon asked, with Enordial's mouth motioning a sigh. "I want to see them again since the walls came they along with all physical beings were transported to the other world, I can hear their thoughts, but I am not strong enough to see them. I need to be with my children again," his voice stern, "I will not stop until I am with them." "I understand," Livigon answered." "Though if I did act, the Wyrm-torn would have devoured all life on the other earth and, more importantly, my children. After that, they would have found the way to this earth and destroyed us.  Now it is time to retrieve that Monster when it is weakest, you and a selected team shall do it. And after you be responsible with ensuring that my plan will succeed."   "Of course, my lord," Livigon replied, "we shall end all conflict with one last battle."
