Chapter 5

2069 Words
Meanwhile, Carter walked with his hands in his pockets, pressing his tongue against his cheek as he stopped in front of her. He leaned in close and spoke in a stern, threatening manner to intimidate her. “One million to end this.” “Are you that afraid of taking responsibility?” “Yes, because I'm sure it's not my child. I want to end this madness once and for all,” Carter said harshly to Amanda, hoping she would stop meddling in his life and they could go their separate ways, but... “Then save your money for your own funeral, because I've decided to move into this house.” In truth, she wanted to demand compensation from him to ruin him and then part ways, as she didn't want to live in his house either. But she was annoyed by his arrogance and selfishness, not considering others at all. Amanda chose to wait for the DNA test results to confront Carter with the truth and stop his arrogance once and for all. After speaking, Amanda took Kim's hand and walked to the taxi they hired, with Carter watching irritably. As she rode away in the taxi, he cursed loudly, “Damn it!” and kicked the air in anger, clenching his jaw until it bulged, his sharp eyes burning as he watched Amanda, who had come to disrupt his life. He then walked to his car, muttering under his breath, “If you’re coming, then come, but be ready to handle someone like me.” With those words, he slammed the accelerator and drove off to meet his friend at high speed… On Amanda's side, after riding in the taxi with Kim for a while, she sighed with relief at the day's events, even though the day had just begun. She knew well that moving into Carter's house wouldn't be easy, as she didn't know the personalities of the people in that house, so she didn't know what to expect. But she was determined to fight and endure as much as possible... As her beautiful eyes closed briefly, she heard Kim talking to the taxi driver, “You're so kind to wait for us.” Because it wasn't just a short while; if it were someone else, they would have gone home to relax. But upon hearing the taxi driver's response, “How could I leave? You haven't paid the fare yet.” “Oh, really!” Amanda immediately relaxed upon hearing the response, her stress dissipating. She quickly gathered her thoughts and asked about the fare. After settling the fare, the taxi soon stopped in front of a small dormitory. Once they got out of the car, they walked and talked as they headed to Amanda's room… “I’m crashing in your room tonight.” "Feel free." Once they got to the room, Kim ordered food while Amanda went to shower and freshen up. After they finished, they sat down to eat and talked about the events of the day. "Are you really going to move into his house?" "Yes." Although the two people there seemed nice, Kim couldn't help but worry about Amanda because her friend was from a different social class than those people. She feared that Amanda might be bullied and pushed around. However, since her friend had made up her mind, Kim didn't want to stop her because she knew Amanda was strong and resilient and wouldn't let anyone bully her easily. "Then take care of yourself, okay? If you ever encounter anything bad or feel upset, you can call me anytime." "Thanks a lot." Amanda said with a shaky voice, her beautiful eyes brimming with tears waiting to fall. Seeing this, Kim wanted to take back her previous thoughts and quickly told Amanda, "Don't start crying, or I'll cry too." "Boohoo..." Before she could finish her sentence, Amanda burst into tears. Kim quickly grabbed a tissue to hand to her, while also wiping her own tears, as she couldn't help but cry when she saw someone else crying. As she wiped her tears, Kim asked with a puzzled face, "Why do you cry so easily?" Because Amanda used to be very strong and never cried easily. "I don't know." "Maybe it's the pregnancy hormones kicking in." "Probably." After that, they avoided talking about stressful and sensitive topics. "When are you moving into his house?" "In a couple of days, because I need to talk about resigning with Wade first." "Let me know when, and I'll come with you." "Okay." After finishing their meal, Amanda brushed her teeth and prepared to sleep as she couldn't resist her drowsiness. Kim went to shower, and once done, they both went to rest... *** Meanwhile, when Carter arrived at the bar, he threw himself onto the sofa opposite Cairo with a displeased expression. His close friend saw this and asked, "What's with the face? Your parents don't believe you?" "Believe what? She barged into my house like that. My plan is ruined, damn." He said while running a hand through his hair, which was covering his face. Then he reached for an expensive bottle of liquor in front of him, poured it into a glass, and drank it all in one go to quell the turmoil inside. "You're in a tough spot." "I'll sort it out myself." No matter how stressed he was, he still talked big. "So what did your parents say?" Cairo asked, taking the glass from Carter to pour him a drink, since they hadn't hired any staff to serve them today. He handed the glass to Carter, who looked as if the world was ending tomorrow. "My mom let that woman move into the house until the DNA test is done." "Why would your mom agree to that?" "I don't know either." Carter himself didn't understand. It might be because of Amanda's behavior, which seemed unyielding, and her confident words that led his parents to act this way. "Just keep your distance from each other. In a few months, the truth will come out that it's not your kid." "..." Carter sat silently because there was nothing he could do except keep their distance as Cairo suggested and wait for the results. Then he could deal with Amanda properly for daring to disrupt his life and stubbornly refusing to end this matter easily. He even offered her money, which wasn't necessary, but he felt sorry for her as someone he had slept with. Carter then chose to ignore all the chaos that had occurred and enjoy his free life tonight. "Isn't Dylan coming?" "His wife won't let him out." "Such a coward, afraid of his wife," Carter sneered, referring to Dylan, another close friend who didn't dare to come out drinking with them because he was afraid of his wife. He then chuckled and shook his head lightly. "True, he told me his wife is the greatest. Yeah, right!" "Pathetic!" "Don't rush into marriage, man. You'll miss out on all the fun." "I'm not in a hurry and don't plan to. As for her, she doesn't matter because soon I'll kick her out of the house." With those mocking words, Carter lifted his glass to drink with a relaxed demeanor, then scanned the room for a beautiful woman to take to bed tonight. However, none were enticing or attractive enough to pursue, so he chose to sit and drink quietly. Not long after, Cairo spoke up. "It's such a shame, man. Your ex shouldn't have gotten pregnant. She had a great body for fun in bed." "Great body but really dull." "What? Didn't you tell us she was great that day?" "I was drunk and just rambling," Carter replied with a sneer and continued drinking. Despite what he told Cairo, the truth was that he was quite impressed with Amanda. Even though it was her first time, she wasn't inexperienced at all, as if she had studied the matter well. It left quite an impression on him, and he wanted to be with her many more times, if only she hadn't ended up pregnant. Carter sat silently, lost in thoughts about his intimate moments with Amanda, moving his hips rhythmically against her. It felt incredibly good, better than anything he'd ever experienced. The way she clenched and lifted her hips to meet his thrusts, and how she swayed on top of him, just thinking about it made him painfully hard. He reached for a cushion to discreetly cover his lap. He continued drinking with Cairo, but it didn't make him feel any better, so he turned to Cairo and said, "I'm gonna head home." "Why are you leaving so soon?" "No beautiful women to catch my eye today, so I'm bored." With that, the tall figure pushed himself up from the sofa and walked out the back of the bar since it wasn't crowded. Once in the car, he started driving home quickly, but halfway there, he had to pull over and curse in frustration. "Damn it! Why won't you calm down?" He then unzipped his pants and took care of himself. Once he felt better, he drove home to rest because he had a meeting in the morning... Two days later, after Amanda had sorted out her work matters, she packed her clothes and personal items into a bag and headed to Carter's house alone, as Kim was busy and couldn't accompany her. It didn't take long for the taxi to stop in front of the large house. She gazed ahead with a heavy heart because she didn't want to be there, but she had to for her child's sake. She took a deep breath and then walked to ring the doorbell. It wasn't long before the gate slowly opened, revealing the inside of the house. She walked, dragging her suitcase through the afternoon sun to the large house. When she reached the house, she saw Chandra waiting with two maids. She greeted them with a polite wai. "Hello." Chandra returned the gesture calmly before turning to the two maids waiting for instructions. "Mildred, help her with the suitcase." "Yes, Madam." As soon as the order was given, the woman, who appeared only a few years older than Amanda, prepared to help with the suitcase, but "It's okay, I can carry it myself." Amanda insisted on carrying it herself since it wasn't heavy. Seeing this, Chandra didn't insist, only saying with a calm face... "Then come inside." "Yes," Amanda followed Chandra into the house she had only set foot in a few days ago. Once inside, her beautiful eyes scanned the house. Not seeing the person with the foul mouth, she let out a big sigh before stopping at the foot of the stairs and looking at Chandra, who instructed the maid. "Mildred, please take her suitcase up to her room." Hearing this, Amanda asked with a curious expression, "Am I staying upstairs?" "Yes." "Okay." Even though she didn't want to stay on the same floor as Carter, Amanda didn't want to lower herself to be looked down upon by him. So she chose not to refuse, handed her not-so-large suitcase to Mildred, and followed the maid up to the second floor of the house. Chandra stood watching silently until Amanda was out of sight up the stairs... When she reached the second floor, Amanda surveyed the entire floor, which had four rooms. Even though she didn't want to be rude, she couldn't help but look around. "This way, please." "Okay." She then quietly followed Mildred. After passing two bedrooms, they reached the room she would stay in during her time there. While Mildred dragged the suitcase into the room, Amanda waited outside. When Mildred came out, she said with a cheerful face, "Make yourself comfortable." "Thank you." With that, Mildred headed back towards the stairs. Amanda then entered the room and looked around, seeing that it was fully equipped with amenities. The room was clean and very pleasant. If this were her own home, she would be delighted and proud to have such a beautiful and spacious room, since she had never had the fortune to live in such a nice place. But now, it felt no different because she was well aware of her status here... Amanda let out a big sigh and decided to put everything behind her before quickly putting her clothes away in the closet...
