After Carter had left the room for a while, Amanda became aware and quickly turned to look beside her. Not seeing anyone lying next to her, she sighed in relief. Then she pushed herself up from the bed, neatly folded the blanket, opened the curtains to let the morning sunlight through the large window, and hurried to shower and get dressed before heading downstairs.
