After finishing their meal, the father and his two sons sat talking on the sofa, while Amanda took the dishes to the kitchen to help Aunt Sari and Mildred. Just as she was about to offer to wash the dishes, Mildred, who anticipated her intention, stopped her and urged her to go rest in her room. Amanda didn't insist and instead took a bottle of water for her medicine, then left the kitchen and went straight to her room.
