‎surulere Lagos ‎samantha's Pov ‎ ‎waking up this early today was not part of my plan. especially after last night, but in surulere, Lagos, you don't get to decide what you want. ‎because why will someone be grinding something this loud as early as 4am. and let me not talk about the smell of the akara, don't get me wrong I love akara but waking up to the smell this early is another temptation on it own. ‎and then the stupid celling fan that won't stop crying like the world is oweing him, I hissed while cleaning the sweat on my face, I don't know what is the point of having a fan if it won't do it job properly. I stood up to use the restroom but stopped immediately I passed the mirror, staring at my reflection and seeing the same dark cycle that never seem to brighten any day then I quickly turned and do my business before going back to the bed. ‎i picked up my book to continuing reading since I know that sleep is far from me, I was so lost in the book that I lost track of time. ‎'SAMANTHA' ‎'SAMANTHA' ‎i jumped out of my bed dropping the book in the process when I heard mama voice, l'm coming ma I called back as I look for My slippers before going to open the door for my mother. 'what happened, are you okay, what took you so long to open the door, she started bombing me with her questions immediately I opened the door. good morning mummy l am fine thank you'. I replied smiling, you think is funny right she said glaring at me I have told you times without numbers to always leave the door open Incase of any emergency she complained with a sad look. l'm sorry mummy it won't happen again. ‎i look at the wall clock 7:30 that means I have 30mins to get ready I said as I rush into the bathroom for my morning routine then came out 10mins later with a towel around my chest, then walk to the small table in my room,to moisturize my body I love skincare because it's one of the few things i can control in my life, ‎i need to get my hair done I said as I run my hand through my hair, checking the time again with only 10mins left I quickly grap a brown jogger and a white top then tie my hair with my black jersey scarf since I don't have the strength to battle with my hair this morning. ‎ ‎At the breakfast table ‎i walked to the dinning room with six chair around a brown wooden table, that is still neat and well maintained, then I pull my favorite chair and sat down waiting for everyone. ‎Sam sam, Richard said while sitting down on his chair, morning to you too big head, I replied. can't handle your forest again this one that you are tieing your head and I know that is not for fashion he replied with a smirk on his face. mind your business young man mommy beat me to it before I could give him a befitting comeback. good morning mommy we said at the same time, two of you have started again this early morning right.. she said as she set the stainless plates on the table, let me help you I say why standing up. don't worry yourself dear sir down so you won't get tired she said. Ehh mommy do you know that mama Ella and aunty ruka where fighting because they discover that they are both sleeping with mama ada husband, Richard said with a smile far too interested in our neighbors gist. Ahh when did that happen that I don't know mommy reply while dropping the plate on the table, forgetting what she was about to do, I just stood up from my chair to go and bring the rest of the food from the kitchen because that discussion won't end anytime soon, if you see the way they torn each other clothes ehh Richard was still saying when I returned. ‎mommy where is daddy, l am here my dear daddy said as he sit down on his sit at the head of the table. good morning daddy, Richard and I said at the same time too, morning let eat daddy said, mommy sat down and we started eat the breakfast consist of pap and akara (beans cake) and bread. half way in the breakfast daddy dropped his spoon and ask how was your night Samantha, i looked up and smile as I just lost my appetite and stood up, thank you mommy and daddy I say while standing up let me go and prepare for school. ‎i went back to the room and changed the joggers to a boyfriend jeans with a black slide and grab my bag then check if l'm not forgetting anything. ‎i met daddy reading newspaper in the parlour, l'm ready daddy I said and he looked up at the sound of my voice, okay dear be careful he said then go back to his newspaper. mommy I called while making my way to the kitchen yes dear, l'm ready for school she leaves the dish that she was washing and looked at me first before looking back at my face. be very careful and come if you are uncomfortable okay, yes ma'am I said then rush out. ‎good morning ma'am I started greeting as I walk out of the street, this is one of the things I hate here, people leaving their houses to come and sit around just to gossip immediately you pass and did not greet them. I started walking fast in order to catch up, school gate I call out to the Keke nap, he stopped aunty school gate na 500 hundred, ahh but it was 300 hundred yesterday na. you dey go abi you no dey go, leave English for people wey get am. fine let go I get into the Keke nap and start praying for me to handle today's stress without any trouble, I open my bag take out my phone and call my bestie, hi our HOD she replied far too relaxed for a student on Monday morning, Debbie don't tell me you're still in bed I groan immediately I hear her voice, pls stand up we have test in the next 1hr. why did you not wake me up since, she shouted then start rushing. pls be fast before you miss that woman test I said then end the call. ‎standing at the gate of unilag always seem like my first day, because UNILAG had a way of making every semester feel like survival training. ‎i took out my stress relief ball and start squeezing it while heading for my first lecture. ‎i can't believe that woman taught us all the semester course outline today, Deborah start complaining immediately we came of class, we can't blame her we were the ones that decide to come to school so we have to handle the stress that comes with it. I replied and turn to look at Deborah standing with a Terrified look.. then she quickly grab my hand, Samantha pls don't look back, she was saying but it was too late and I regret looking back immediately.
