As Luna Karla began speaking to her guest a large guard grabbed my arm and started escorting me out. The Luna and our current Alfa we’re making a speech, announcing our new Alfa as their son Fenris. I was thrown in the snow outside the pack house, “omegas” the guard scowled and went back inside. It was freezing and my mother was still inside catering the party. I felt ashamed leaving her to do all the work alone. I sat down on the steps of the house, I was freezing in my dress watching the snow fall around me. If I wasn’t a werewolf I’d surely freeze to death in this weather. I could hear the applause and cheering for the declaration of our new Alfa Fenris. A few minutes later and the door opened, heavy footsteps inched toward me, I didn’t have to look I could smell the powerful aroma of lavender and pine trees, Fenris. He sat down beside me with the my box still unwrapped. “It’s your birthday today too?” He asked. I finally turned to face him and his scent hit me like a truck, his usual earthy smell was stronger and sweeter then normal the intensity made my heart flutter and my body tingle. “My fated mate” I said in my head. He clearly felt this too as his eyes widened, the need to kiss him and breathe him in was overwhelming but I refrained. Before we could say anything the doors burst open and our pack members began flooding out, saying congratulations and nodding in submission to their new Alfa as they passed. We locked eyes as they passed and left but as I took a step closer to him his mother; Luna Karla, shoved my mother out the door, “You and your daughter have embarrassed this pack for the last time!” She bellowed as my mother hit the snow, I ran to her putting her arm around my neck and walking her away. The Luna stepped into her yard still going, “You’re family should be proud and grateful for all we’ve done for you but this is how we’re repaid! You’re both fired!” She was stomping toward us now, eyes gold from her growling wolf. “Enough!” Fenris’s voice made even our Luna shiver and silence. “I will drive you home,” he said turning to us. “But you are supposed to be acting Luna and this is how you treat your pack” he scolded his mother gesturing towards my fragile mom. Karla narrowed her brow but didn’t dare speak against her son for he was now the Alfa. She scoffed and went back inside still clearly furious. He walked us to one of the three cars and opened the door, he helped my mother into the front seat carefully. As we rode in silence to our home Fenris and I kept locking eyes through the review mirror, the heat in my belly rising with each glance.
When we finally arrived at are small rundown cottage home Fenris opened the front door and carried my mother inside bridal style. I slowly opened the door and stepped out turning to grab my birthday present from Mandy, turning and shutting the door Fenris surprised me pushing me up against the car soft but swiftly, he pushed my chin up so we were staring into each others eyes. “My Luna” he whispered and grinned. Was he really accepting our bond? Had he already decided? I have dreamt about this for years but never imagined it’d come true. He went in for a kiss but I flinched back, he stopped puzzled. “We don’t know each other, I know the goddess has fated us but I would like to know you before I accept.” I said and waited for him to reject me completely. In the years I’ve worked for his parents we’ve only spoken twice, he was always kind but the conversations were always short. He looked hurt but smiled again and said, “I’ll wait for you Luna.”
