Darius POV. The throne chamber was oddly silent, save for the occasional crackle of the torches lining the walls. The flickering flames sent long shadows across the polished marble floors, making the golden engravings on the pillars shimmer in the dim light. I stood behind him—King Rowan, the weird Moon King—watching as he stared out of the arched window. His broad shoulders were relaxed, his hands loosely clasped behind his back. His posture, his stillness—it all felt deliberate, as if he wanted me to stew in this silence, in the weight of whatever words he had called me here to say. I had never been a patient man.
