It’s been five days after Reginald’s resignation. He vanished, out of sight from everyone in the headquarters to track. The bracelet was intact with him, but nobody would be under the radar to know his whereabouts, as much as Maria Bowman that assigned to be his escort on their way to Protego’s safehouse. “This is our home, Regi. The grand base of Protego.” The headquarters of Repugnare’s counterpart is a small but well-furnished house in the valley of an unknown mountain, covered below the shade of an overwhelming peak of the cliff. Numerous flow of mists could be seen up above, given natural camouflage to the base and a natural scenery to enjoy. “Similar ideas to Repugnare, our house is a simple pretender. The actual base is located within the mountain.” Fritz then heading to the small sign on the left. He pressed the concealed button behind the wooden pole before walking to the front of seamless construction of stones. “Home sweet home.” As he pushed the smooth-looking wall of stone ahead of them, the sturdy composition of the rocks cave in to the left and creating a square tunnel for anyone to enter. “Well, is this door connected to the hideous sign on the lawn, Fritz?” “I’m a secret compartment enthusiast, it’s true. But, those button-pressing drama was not posing their part to the opening at all, hahaha.” “He is an eccentric toy maker, Regi. It’s kind of hobbies for him to surprise his guest with bad jokes.” By the entry of the three travelers, soothing aroma of woods emanated from the lair. Every furnitures were composed with timber and woods, including the background which were painted with similar tone to its surface. “This place is cozy..... I could snuck my head inside those pillow for hours.” “Haha, thanks for the compliment, Mr. Lambardi.” After speaking of the cue, Reginald rushes himself forward and pouncing to the pillow on the couch. “Call me Regi. It’s easier that way, Fritz..... Ah, it hits the spot.” The other entree sitting on the other vacant sofa and laying their head to rest. “Anyway, mind to tell me a little stories of yourself, Reginald? I am interested to know your way to deal with the blessings.” “Hmm? Blessing?  Mmmm, this is adorable.” “Hey, don’t clutch to it too tense, Regi. It’s my plush doll.” Reginald taking a short inspection to the pillow and found two pairs of legs and hands were there all the time. “Yeah, it’s apparently a doll to the toe. Hahaha, I don’t know you have a taste with something like this, Marion.” “My kid is a fan of Princess Suchia, back then. It’s her favorite show on tv way back before I got stranded in the middle of nowhere.” “Now, now, you haven’t tell me of your exploits, Marion. How could you be here? I mean, when did Miss Maria being a backstabber of humanity?” Maria chuckles with Reginald’s insinuation. “No single soul has full information of my identity, Regi. Do you recall myself being a tv anchor? Or an actress? It’s all bluffs.” “Yeah, Reginald. Her father got trust issues over it, as always.” “Ho-ho, I guess your career trajectory is a total deception, after all of those talks. Mind to disclose anything else?” “You have to reply on my father’s question beforehand, Regi. He is impatient.” Reginald shifted his glance to Fritz. “Sure, Mr. Fritz. This tragedy turns out while I got my hands on virtual reality device. In that day, I am being struck by the jolt of weak bolts of electricity from the device.” “And It startled you to have the power?” “No, I slept all the way to the morning, doing my usual routines, say hello to Marion with her missing lawnmower, and the magic is finally happened and helped me through all of this.” “I presume you might be under a lucid dream, Regi. I never lose my stuff, especially that lawnmower that you speak about. On the other hand, why do I have to ask for help? It’s my belonging, not yours.” Fritz is pressing his lips with index finger and closing his eyelids momentarily. He seems convoluted into something intricate within his mind. “Well, I am your best friend, Right? Don’t tell me it’s a bluff. I might be outraged.” “It’s a real deal, Regi. It might be bizarre for me to pique anyone with my own problems. You know that much, too, correct?” After a some time of pondering, Fritz stood still in his stance of contemplation. “So, what do you think, Fritz? Is there something amiss?” “Shush, he is on argument with himself. You don’t know how long would it takes to stop him after this.” “Ah!!” A blast of clamoring shout echoing inside the base. It’s coming through the lips of the old man, who were suddenly rung himself out of nowhere. “What is it, dad? Tell us your preaching.” “A preaching, huh. Alright, Reginald, I’ll give you insight on my power. This might take long, are you willingful to listen is another question to state forth.” “I have all the time in the world. Please, the stage is yours.” Fritz leaning straight against the contour of the back pillows, before delved into his own insight of Reginald’s problem. “First of all, the tingling dream that you having is common to us, the ‘special virus’ of old. The scripture of abnormal findings from the scroll has stated our ability from the start.” “The two canisters of Timia.” “Exactly. Inside of those vials is our ancestors. They might not given profound information of the liquid inside the glass, but it was actually the preservation of unidentified micro-organisms of the Kingdom’s epic.” Reginald is tilting his head in confusion. “What? How could you know? By the way, those collectibles were stolen. Tell me about those ‘pickpocket’ too, Fritz.” “Haha, you wanted to clear up things, huh? This is my privilege as the top class, Reginald. Remember those hierarchy of Repugnare? I am sitting upon the throne in my prime days of late.” “So you are the missing link of the top class-stratum. Why were you deserted, then?” After hearing of such query, Fritz is rising up and fled to the back of a huge shelf of books behind the lounge. “It might be essential for you to read this other scrolls. It would resolve your question in a single blip.” “My father is a goner after the resignation, Regi. He wandered off to many places in this continent to find out the truth.” “Haha. True, true, I am a wayfarer. I ventured many kingdoms of the continent, handed down information as couriers of their royals. Catch.” Fritz is throwing two scrolls to Reginald, but failed to land a hit. “Heh, how can  you probing on this one, Fritz? It has a scale on it.” “It’s from Osteich, or fishman kingdom for identification.” The faint reek of fish were emitted from the scroll’s tube while Reginald inspecting it to the heart’s content. “Yeah, definitely honest altruism from the Osteich. Could you tease me with the synopsis of the writings?” “It’s the diverse doodles and scribbles from the previous wielder of this power. It’s inherited through the air, those virus, but I’ll smack the details for our training in the next day.” --- Day 1 poked by river crab Day 2  Growing pincer on my left hand. Day 3  bitten by stray dogs on the leg Day 4  lower leg coated in fur, nail turned to be sharper in the edge. Day 5  Doctor diagnosed me with rabies, albeit I’ve had no cold at all. Injected by a dose of vaccine for it. Day 6  The injection doesn’t create a severe reaction to my body. Living normally from now on. Day 7  A gash from my sickle. Day 8  Wow, even the stab of a knife didn’t kill me. --- “Is this even adequate to show something up to me? Why is this scroll only consisted of one page?” “chill out, partner, I retrieved the notes from the officials of Osteich with honor. Nobody was harmed. Now, undo the next scroll.” --- Day 1  - what is this? Someone shot me to the head with their bolt of finger bone, but I am still breathing. I wonder what is going on. Day 2  - Today, another mobs of human thugs were attempting to kill me with their puffy hands. I am miraculously survived by the barrage of their attacks. Day 3 - A headbutt from my enemies and they are in pain somehow. --- “For that one, he died in agony after a sword slicing his throat in a battle.” “Heh? I’m afraid I couldn’t follow the drill around here... what’s really happened to the both of them?” Fritz is returning to the lounge and gone back sitting on the empty couch he is leaving behind for some time. “To say the least, the initial page was written by the Fishman kingdom’s countrymen. I’ve translated those two to our language for my own storage. Yeah, it’s a duplication of the real notes.” Fritz is pointing on the second scroll. “That one is from the Mammals kingdom, or Malia. I’ve got it covered from the sentinel  a few years back.” Reginald scratching his neck, looking confused over the peculiar degree of skepticism. “In short, our powers was circulated throughout this continent, Regi. Maybe even  overseas, since we have zero knowledge of what’s out there in general.” “I am totally oblivious of your abilities, Fritz. Feed me the brief.” “You could say that I am impenetrable or invincible, but I am just deflecting the abilities of humans back at them.” “Too short, grandpa.” Reginald is pouting incessantly with his lips protruding in front and hands laid to the waist. “Curb your enthusiasm, Reginald. I need to breathe some air firsthand.” He proceed to inhale and swooping out some air to his lungs, before being handed down some waters by Marion in the end. “Your medicine, father.” “Being old didn’t feel this struggling for years.Thank you, Maria.” After he drunk the pills and caplets down, he mustered some strength to continue his speech. “I’m sorry, Fritz. I thought you were joking for being old, of all.” “Haha, much obliged, although it’s a ploy by Maria. Nice trick, daughter.” “Your welcome, Father. He is a fan for this kind of thing, Regi.” Reginald is trying so hard to hamper his anger, but to no avail, he explode to bits. “Rargh!! I am rarely annoyed for something like this while being determined to listen....I am totally in my serious mode, and you both.....” “Ewh, so rigid and cold. How could you get along with this man, Maria?” “I dunno. He is the one stalking me around, father.” “Argh, I quit!! It’s a better for me to sleep than talking with a joker.” Reginald is strolling to the one of the available corridor beside the cupboard, but then rolling back in shame. “Uhh, where is the bedroom? You haven’t sort me out on that part.” After the comedic scene, the uninterrupted laughter reverberates in the living room. “HAHAHAHA! I’ve told you through my message, Father!! He is hilarious.” “Well, it’s so real.... Tell me more about it.” “Hrrngh! I’ll sleep here, then, if you don’t mind myself intruding the space.” “Sorry, Reginald, I am not intended to make you feel uncomfortable. Please, have a seat.” Fritz is patting Reginald’s back for relief and hauling him back to the sofa. “Time out, Maria. He is too stiff for a joke, since it’s already past midnight.” “I will boil you some tea for relaxation, Regi. Hold it right there.” “No, you shouldn’t. We have to recover, so I’ll set a wrap-up from here.”
