"Then the beast grew to enormous size, so much that it blotted out the very sun! Its shadow swallowed the land, and I awakened."
The King of Feathers finished describing his dream. Then he focused again on the subject that stood deferentially before his throne. "Well, witch?" He asked. "Is it an omen?"
The oracle's head remained bowed as she gave him her analysis. "Your majesty. It is an omen, there's no mistake about it." She hesitated briefly. It was certainly an omen dream, but it was... strange. "I do not know the meaning," she continued, "of the part where the ghost tripped on its hem, then got back up and continued to make spooky noises as if nothing had happened. But the rest is clear: a great evil is approaching the land. An evil greater than our enemies to the west. We may soon witness... the birth of a demon lord."
A wave of murmurs swept through the court. The king waved them to silence. "If what you say is true, then we must prepare. Bring me the Hero of Feathers!"
In the shadows nearby, the corner of an invisible mouth quirked up into an invisible smile.
