IGotASword (Avitria): i'm okay. i already did the whole crying thing, so now i'm just sort of

Aphrodite (Galactic Republic): Death is just something heroes have to live with. But it never gets any easier.
IGotASword (Avitria): have you lost someone before?
Aphrodite (Galactic Republic): Many times. Unfortunately, it's a common occurrence in my dimension.
IGotASword (Avitria): you always seem to have it together though
Aphrodite (Galactic Republic): I have a lot of responsibility these days, so I don't have a lot of leeway to be otherwise.
Aphrodite (Galactic Republic): You would be surprised, though. Back when I started off, I was an absolute mess.
IGotASword (Avitria): how did you become a hero anyway?
Aphrodite (Galactic Republic): It's been a long journey for me, but I'd hate to bore you with my story when you need a shoulder to cry on.
IGotASword (Avitria) no it's fine! this is helping distract me
Aphrodite (Galactic Republic): Well, alright then.
Aphrodite (Galactic Republic): Unlike you and Book, I'm a reincarnator, rather than a summoned hero.
IGotASword (Avitria): so you, like, died?
Aphrodite (Galactic Republic): Yes. It was not a terribly pleasant death.
Aphrodite (Galactic Republic): But it did get the job done, I suppose.
Whatsamana (Earth Q): she got killed by a pear

Aphrodite (Galactic Republic): I happened to choke on a pear.
Whatsamana (Earth Q): while doing...
Aphrodite (Galactic Republic): ...It was a parlor trick, popular at the time, wherein one throws a bit of food into the air and catches it in their mouth.
IGotASword (Avitria): ooh and you did that with a pear

Aphrodite (Galactic Republic): ...It was a bit of chocolate, actually.
IGotASword (Avitria): i'm confused?
Whatsamana (Earth Q): buckle up sword
Aphrodite (Galactic Republic): The chocolate struck a passing large bird in the head as it went up.
Aphrodite (Galactic Republic): The bird subsequently went into freefall, crashing into a banquet table.
Aphrodite (Galactic Republic): The unexpected uproar caused one of the guests--this was at a garden party, you see--to upend the table, scattering various foods into the air.
Aphrodite (Galactic Republic): The pear that would eventually be my undoing was, somehow, launched high into the air.
Aphrodite (Galactic Republic): Where, as I understand it, it collided with another bird.
Aphrodite (Galactic Republic): It ricocheted off that bird, then shortly after brained one of my companions. Though she survived with only a black eye.
Aphrodite (Galactic Republic): From there, as if guided by laser, it flew into my still-open mouth, where it lodged itself into my throat.
IGotASword (Avitria): wow...
Whatsamana (Earth Q): shhhh storytime's not over yet
Aphrodite (Galactic Republic): ...Another guest noticed my distress and recognized I was choking.
Aphrodite (Galactic Republic): He wrapped his arms around me in an attempt to perform the Heimlich maneuver.
Aphrodite (Galactic Republic): Unfortunately, one of the birds had now sufficiently recovered enough to begin flailing about in a panic.
Aphrodite (Galactic Republic): The man was thrown off balance by the bird, who fell backward, taking me with him.
Aphrodite (Galactic Republic): Thus I was suplexed by the man attempting to save me, lodging the detestable fruit further within my esophagus.
Aphrodite (Galactic Republic): It was at this point that I lost consciousness.
Whatsamana (Earth Q): fortunately, reincarnators like aphrodite are sometimes treated to replays of the moments leading up to their death, including the parts where they're unconscious...
Aphrodite (Galactic Republic): That is enough story time for today.
Aphrodite (Galactic Republic): Suffice to say I was eventually granted the blessed release of death, and then reincarnated into a strange world of electricity and space travel as the third princess of the Lamasu System, and eventually became the person that I am today. The end.

Aphrodite (Galactic Republic): Well. I'm glad I could be of help then.
Aphrodite (Galactic Republic): I am a little worried about Book, though. You're here talking to us, but he seems like the type that doesn't open up very easily about his feelings.
IGotASword (Avitria): you're right, he's been really quiet since everything happened!!! i should check on him...
