Chapter 14

Sophia pov

"Sophie, hello. Are you ok?" I just hung up the phone with the lawyer. I called him to ask for Johnny's phone because what I had was not valid. And he told me that he had just signed the papers required for the divorce. Eventually, the lawyer said he persuaded me after many attempts to back down and sign. As far as I know, it seems strange to me that he accepted. Usually, if something comes to his mind, he doesn't stop until he achieves it. But since he signed only that, I care. "Sophie?" I look up and see Steffie

"Steffie, sorry. I was thinking."

"What happened with the lawyer? Did you talk to him?" he says and sits in the chair in front of the desk

"You will not believe it. The lawyer persuaded him to accept the divorce without asking for anything more," I say, relieved

"Realy. That's great," she says and reaches out her hand and grabs mine

"Finally. You were very stressed about this issue."

"Yes. It will end soon. Soon I will be free. Fortunately, there is a new law, and since the divorce is consensual, the procedures become much faster."

"This is perfect."

"I know. I can't wait for Kevin to come back and tell him."

"Where is he anyway?"

"Come here, honey. Sit down," Kevin's mom tells me and shows me the place next to her. I go slowly and sit turned towards her. "My darling. You are so beautiful. Kevin was right about everything," she tells me while stroking my hair. Then she touches my own hands with both her hands.

"Kevin has talked to me about everything. From a young age, he trusted me with everything. Maybe because I gave birth at a young age, I was always very close to him. I was only eighteen. We fell in love with his father at first sight. Even he was ten years older, and even now, we are like the first day." She takes a breath

" I always wanted this for my children too. And I was sad that Kevin was late to find it. Until one day, he came home for dinner after a long time. Even my mother has never spoken to me like that.

"Thank you," I say in tears. I cried so much that I didn't understand Kevin entering the office. "What's going on here? Are you okay, baby?" he says, and he takes me from his mother's arms. And he took me in my arms. "Mother, what happened? What did you tell her?" he says a little angrily since no one answers

"My boy, we had a conversation, and she cried a little."

"What made her cry? Sophia cries uncontrollably." I leave his arms and look at him

"No, Kevin, it's not your mother's fault. I didn't hold back my tears. Your mother spoke in such nice words that I cried." I say, crying non-stop. Kevin hugs me and whispers words of consolation in my ear

"I meant every word sweetheart. I'm leaving now. See you soon," she says, and she walks to leave Kevin and me alone. I turn and look at her, wiping away the tears.

"I didn't want to make you cry like that. But what I said is true. We consider you a family, and whatever you want, you to have our support and our love." she says she gets up she gives me one last hug, and goes to the door.

"We're waiting for you for dinner one day. Before Christmas," she says loudly at the end and leaves. Kevin turns to me, cups my face, and says

"Are you better, my love?" I nod

"Yes, your mother is wonderful. She has it in words. My mother has not spoken to me like that. I didn't feel so loved by my family. And your family has not met me yet and has accepted me."

"They trust me. I have been waiting for the best for a long time. And because I want to meet them, my parents know that you are the only one. And I would choose only the best, "he says and kisses me

"Oh my God, look at me. I'm going to clean up a bit in the bathroom. I'm coming in a while" I'm going to the bathroom to freshen up. What was that? I hope everything goes well. The only thing left now that Kevin's family has accepted me is to contact my family. It's worth a try.
