The last of the leaves had fallen from the trees and every morning since then, thick sheets of frost stuck to everything it could. The windows, grass, streets, everything. Winter was coming and pretty soon, even I wouldn’t try my luck outside. When the first snow falls, the Xerclanz would begin hunting us like bargain deals at a dollar store. They captured as many of us as they could for food storage during the winter, just like a squirrel packs away nuts. Humans do what any prey would do; hide and hope that they can't get to them and eat them. These last days before the first snow fall I gathered as much as I could for my mom and sister before all was lost. Should we run out of anything important, well, I’ll have one
