Prologue - Arrival

1041 Words
My name is Samantha Greene, 27, a business woman. Three months ago, my mother died of sickness but before she does, she told me my biological father is still alive and so is my older brother. My father, a half Japanese, left my mother when I was only three years old. He took my older brother who was 5 years older than me. It was my mother who raised me alone until I reached seven when she met another man, my adoptive father, Frederick Greene. My mom never had a child with him but he became a good father to me until he died in an accident when I was 12. He then left his food business to us. My mother never married again and spent her time on her business. She made that third class food business to a five-star restaurant with 55 chains all over the country. And I, I spent my 15 years under her strict policy, raising me to become the next president of the Greene's Food Inc. "Flight 827, landing on Tokyo Japan" I heard the pilot speaking. In a few minutes, I'll be having my first step in Japan. Although I have an Asian blood, this is my first trip to an Asian Country. As the plane landed, "Welcome to Tokyo Japan" the stewardess said. I'm very excited. "So this is Japan" I said as I looked outside After my mom told me about my father, I contacted a private investigator to search for him. It took them almost three months before they could find him. He was here, in Tokyo, living with my older brother. When I heard about it, I immediately booked a flight. I looked at my notebook, written to it is my father's address. I took a cab and given the driver the full address to where I could find him. After 20 minutes of trip, I was standing in front of a gate of a two story house. 'Hamasaki', that's the name written to it. I pushed the doorbell. After a few seconds, a light turned on. The door opened and a tall handsome man went out. "Good evening" I greeted "I'm looking for Shinto Hamasaki" The man looked at me seriously. I realized my mistake. Maybe he didn't understand my English "I'm... sorry..." I said in slow words as I took English - Japanese Dictionary, "Matte" I said "You don't have to do that" the man said "I can understand English" he added "Why are you looking for my father at 11 in the evening?" "Your father?" "Yes, Shinto Hamasaki is my father" I smiled. This handsome guy in front of me is my older brother "My name is Samantha Greene... I'm Elena Gabriels daughter" I can see in his eyes –although it was chinky- that he was surprised. He walks toward the gate and opened it "Come in" he said As we enter the house, "Please wait here, I'll just call him" he said as he walks towards the stairs "Papa! Koko ni oritekuru, darekaga anata o sagashiteimasu." "Sudeni yoru osoku, sore ga daredearu no ka?" I can hear a man on his early 60's said as he went down. He looked at me "Samantha" he called, recognizing me "Hello" I greeted as I stood up "Oh my God, I can't believe this" he said as he walks towards me "You're in front of me" he added as he hugged me "I'll get some tea" my brother said "Why are you here? Where's your mother" he asked "Mom died 3 months ago" "I'm sorry" "She told me about you and older brother. I'm happy to see you both" My father smiled at me "I'm happy to see you" "Here's your tea." My brother said "You were young when mother took you away from us. We're very happy to see you again" he added "I'm Noeru Hamasaki. My English name is Noel, if you remember" "I do remember the name Noel" I said "You could also call me Oniichan if you wanted" "Oniichan?" "It means older brother. But you can call me brother or anything that suits you" "Oniichan is cute, I like it" I said as I smiled at him "I'll call you Oniichan" He smiled "Of course" I looked at dad "Should I call you papa?" Father smiled "I would love too" "So, Samantha, you're staying here for a while?" "Call me Sam, I'm not comfortable calling me with my real name" "Alright then" "I'll be staying her for about six months. Well, other than finding both of you, I still have something to do" "Then stay with us" Papa said "Can I?" "I'm your father, you are welcome here" "Thank you" "What do you still need to do?" "When mom died, he left me our food business. I would like to extend our business here. I'm looking for a place to open one of our restaurants and also learn new delicacies" "I see" Papa said "But for now, let Noeru show you to your room so that you can rest for tonight" "Of course" "This way" Oniichan said as he showed me the way Upstairs, "Thank you for letting me stay here" I said "Hey, you're a family. You're my younger sister, if you want, you can stay with us forever" I smiled "I would love too but there are things I could never left home" He smiled at me "Well, you should rest. I leave you then." I looked at him and hugged him "I was very happy to have an older brother. Thank you very much" "Me too... I was very happy to have a sister like you" "Then goodnight, Oniichan" "Goodnight" Downstairs, "Is she already sleeping?" Shinto asked "She's still unpacking her things, she'll sleep soon" Noeru answered "Are you not jealous of having her here?" "Why would I? I like her" Shinto smiled "Oh, I forgot to tell you. The Fujimoto's have sent an Omiai invitation. They said that three more were invited so that Saioko can choose" Shinto said while taking out the invitation "I'm not coming" "Why? Saioko is beautiful and rich" "She's not my type. I guess, I'm having a sister complex" Shinto laughed "let's go to sleep"
