2.Sweet Revenge

900 Words
"The mysterious beauty, come here with a drink," the man said, looking in her direction. Coincidentally, as she glanced inside the room and witnessed the scene unfolding, she saw Smith Bennett. It was indeed a coincidence, and evidently, it was the private room her ex-husband had reserved long ago. "Well, the world is small, and the despicable man is right here. And the server standing next to him is undoubtedly his little lover." she thought to herself. The girl with him was none other than Olivia Carter, a young woman who came from a modest background. Four months ago, she had started working at the Knight Club to earn a living and pay for her mother's medical bills. It was ironic that someone could make a living by disrupting other people's happiness. "Yes, that's the vulnerable and delicate image my ex-husband always preferred. It's even more ironic since he had a heroic savior complex from a young age, always wanting to rescue a damsel in distress. I can't believe he doesn't recognize me." With those thoughts in mind, she walked straight to where they were, smiling confidently, eagerly anticipating the unexpected turn of events between the two lovers. As she approached, Smith Bennett showed discomfort and wondered why she was here. "What are you doing here? You gain nothing from being here. Even if you cause a scene, we're already divorced," he said. "Do you think I came here to cause trouble? Relax, I'm just here to have fun. As for you, that's you! You should pretend not to recognize me a thousand times and never dare to call me your wife again. Otherwise, your little girlfriend might get jealous and angry." "Bennett, this girl is..." Olivia Carter, acting shamelessly, didn't wait for Emily to finish her sentence and quickly stepped forward to speak up. "Emily, don't worry, just go do your job first. I'm sure he'll come to meet you afterward," he said in a gentle tone, his gaze directed at Olivia. "I'm sorry, Bennett. Did I hinder your work?" Emily asked sarcastically. "No need to apologize. You didn't do anything wrong," Bennett replied, his eyes expressing his feelings for Olivia. Indeed, they were a pair of convenient traitors. Engaged in their conversation, it seemed that they had forgotten Emily Mitchell's presence entirely. It was clear they had no respect for others. "Did nothing wrong? Seducing a married man and becoming the third person isn't wrong?" Emily couldn't help but feel angry seeing this couple's actions in front of her. "Don't talk nonsense. Carter is not the third person; we are both innocent and have done nothing wrong," Bennett defended them adamantly. Regardless of her emotions, he tried to restrain himself and avoid any conflict. He knew that confronting the situation wouldn't resolve anything, and he was trying to regain his composure and confidence in his words. "Dangerous, quite dangerous. From the way you talk, not doing 'that' doesn't count as an affair, right? I understand; I'll strictly adhere to your standards and act accordingly," she said before shifting her gaze toward the man standing outside the railing. Approaching the man, she thought that if this coincidence played out, she would also like her ex-husband to see how he treated her before. "Hello, I'm Emily Mitchell. Can I kiss you?" She said with a nonchalant expression, though she had no other choice. Before the man could respond, she quickly embraced his neck and planted a kiss, leaving everyone stunned. It wasn't her first time kissing someone, but with this man, it felt different. In just a few seconds, she withdrew, leaving the man unable to process what had just happened. Looking toward her ex-husband, his face was now as dark as night, and Emily felt an immense satisfaction. "You, you dare to publicly cuckold me like that? Kissing another man in front of me," Smith Bennett angrily exclaimed. "Hey, hey, you should remember one thing: we've already signed the divorce papers, and no matter who I kiss now, it's none of your business," she replied, feeling quite pleased with herself. Seeing the shocked expressions on the faces of the deceitful couple brought her great joy. "Emily..." Before he could continue, the phone rang, interrupting his words. There was something peculiar about this phone ring. [The landlord is calling, the landlord is calling. Hurry up and answer.] The ringtone continued amidst the tense atmosphere. "Hello, Grandfather," she answered and picked up the phone, but before she could say another word, a barrage of words flooded into her ears from the other end of the line. "I'm divorced now, why don't you come back home? Do you know that your old father and mother are at home right now? I heard from your eldest brother that you were stopped at Knight? Why didn't you use the card I gave you earlier? Truly, the most favored treasure of the William family is being held in such a place, it's making this old father lose face. Hurry back home, won't you?" "I understand, I'll come back right away. Grandfather, your voice is a bit loud." "You... you're really driving me crazy. Hurry back home!" "Yes! I'll hang up now." After saying that, she hung up and turned away, leaving the man behind in a state of confusion, her ex-husband fuming, and his mistress by his side, still not comprehending what had just happened.
