Lila's POV I stood frozen in the wreckage of the restaurant. My mind couldn't catch up to what had just happened. A mate bond had snapped between me and a stranger. I already had a mate. How is this possible? A guard approached us through the broken glass and overturned chairs. He was older. He had a thick moustache and tired eyes. His uniform looked wrinkled from a long shift already. He stopped in front of us and cleared his throat. "Rolland wants to see the two of you. Now." My stomach twisted at his words. I had not caused the fight. I had only stood there while it happened around me. Still, I knew how quickly blame could be passed onto someone like me in a place like this. "Am I in trouble?" My voice came out smaller than I wanted. The guard shrugged. "That's not for me to say.
