Lila’s POV I stared at Isolde in the dim light of her small room. Her words hadn’t settled yet. My mother had never told me she was a wolf. She’d never told me I was one either, and that silence felt stranger than anything else I’d learned tonight. “My mum never said a word,” I told her. My voice came out thin. “I didn’t even know she was a wolf. How could she keep something like that from me?” Isolde folded her hands in her lap and looked at me with patient eyes. “Mothers hide dangerous truths to protect their children.
