His Opposite Side

Friday fast approached. It was never easy for Ruby to contain herself amidst the elites, despite the constant bullies, the pain never got to heart because she had Kenzie by her side. She had even earned the title 'Miss Diver' The lesson before lunch time was Maths, and soon after the lesson ended, the lunch bell rang. Ruby walked hand in hand with Kenzie to the cafeteria. Contrary to the previous days, the hallway that would always be filled with students chatting was clear and upon reaching the cafeteria, Ruby's eyes widened. The cafeteria which had never been full ever since she stepped into the school, barely had a seat. Ruby's eyes roamed around yet, nothing seemed unusual. 'Maybe it's a must for everyone to eat at the cafeteria on Friday' she thought. . The two girls got their food from the serving point and managed to find a seat. "I wish we could hang out tomorrow, but I have somewhere to be." Kenzie sighed pressing her plate on the table. Ruby picked her cutlery before facing Kenzie. "What do you mean? Why can't we hang out tomorrow? Where are you going?" Ruby raised an eyebrow. Kenzie looked around then she pouted. "A friend I know is holding a party tomorrow, only if it were not strictly by invitation, I would have taken you along" Kenzie's voice was more of a silent whisper. Ruby took a deep breath then smiled. "Don't worry Kenzie, We have many days to hang out." Ruby paused. Then she continued,"It worked out well since I also have to go somewhere tomorrow. We can hang out of Sunday" Kenzie felt her heart melting. She returned the smile then dug into her spaghetti. Abruptly, Kenzie dropped her joint fork. "Ruby, it rained yesterday, how did you manage to get home?" Her eyes were Twinkling. Ruby seems to have been caught off guard. She suddenly began to cough, she just choked on her food. The previous day, Ruby had insisted on staying on campus in order to make use of the library, and it suddenly began pouring a few minutes after Kenzie left. Kenzie opened a sealed water bottle and handed it to Ruby. She gulped the content down her throat. "Are you okay?" Kenzie asked. "I am fine" Ruby bites her lower lip as memories of the previous day flood into her mind. Until now, all that she had encountered the previous day, seemed like a dream. If it were not for him, she would be down with a cold now. Just thinkinking about him, she suddenly felt hot. "Why are you blushing?" Kenzie muttered. Ruby's cheeks were as red as tomatoes. Ruby dropped her cutlery and held her cheeks. "It's nothing," She pouted. Kenzie widened her eyes. Just when she was about to say another word, the cafeteria suddenly got filled with screams. "He is here! Ace is here" a girl screamed. "Oh my God, Ethan looks so cute today," another girl exclaimed. Ruby looked toward the door and her heart suddenly began to pound. Ace and his friends Ethan, Ryan and Ronnie, walked into the cafeteria majestically. They looked more like some demigods. At some corners, some boys could be seen sending deadly glares as the four boys and girls drooled over them. Amidst the ongoing uproar, Ruby attention had long been removed from the four boys. She kept swallowing hard and blinking simultaneously like a thief caught stealing some cookies She looked like someone praying for the ground to go open and swallow her alive. "Ruby, are you sure you are fine?" Kenzie jerked Ruby up. "Of…Course" Ruby stammered. Ace and his friends sat on an empty table that seemed to have been made only for them. Just then, waiters lined up for a silver service. "What the fu** have you just done it!" Ace's voice bounced around the room drawing the attention of everyone in the cafeteria. Ruby narrowed her eyes then swallowed hard. The guy before her looked totally different from the guy the previous night. Yesterday, his eyes were warm and full of emotions, but the guy before her had his eyes lit fire and breathing flames. Ruby couldn't help but swallow hard. All of a sudden, one waitress went on her knees with her face down. "I…am sorry" The waiter cried out. She had just dropped a bowl of soup in his lap, staining his neatly pressed uniform. She had brought out a handkerchief and made an attempt to wipe the stains off Ace before being yelled at. "Sorry? Yet you intentionally did it?" Ace paused. He closed his eyes then ran his finger in His hair. "You know what?" He opened his eyes and faced the waitress. "You are fired" With those words spelled out, Ace began walking out of the cafeteria which would have been as quiet as a graveyard, if only not for the loud sobs of the waitress. As Ace walked past Ruby's table, he happened to lock eyes with Ruby who quickly looked away. Ace huffed before walking out completely. "What a mess. This is why we hate eating here. What a drama Queen" Ethan glumbled standing up from his seat. Being the center of attention in the school, Ace and the three friends had made Fridays the only day to eat at the public cafeteria. In the past, they used to eat here but because girls would create all sorts of scenes just to get close to them, they called it quits. The waitress' moves had been calculated by the four boys even before she had made the scene. "I just lost my appetite" Ryan picked his phone from the table and stood beside Ethan Ronnie stood up and walked towards the waitress. He squats before her. "You should have known better than to risk your job all in the name of fame. " He paused. "You and I know better that Ace hates the touch of any girl. Be sorry for yourself" Ronnie stood up and walked out of the cafeteria followed by Ethan and Ryan. That very moment of noise filled the whole room. From a corner, a girl stood up and walked towards the waitress who was currently wailing like a little baby. She picked one soup bowl from the table and poured the contents on the waiter. Of course the phones were never in the pockets nor on the table. The camera app was in use at all angles of the room. "Don't you crush on Ace again" The girl's voice was full of spite. She hissed then fold her arms under her bre*st before walking out of the room. She is Ace's girlfriend, 'Clarissa'. Ruby felt her head spinning. "What have I just witnessed?" She whispered to Kenzie. "What you've seen is nothing. That's the game elite kids love playing here" Kenzie said nonchalantly. She dug in her plate as if nothing was happening.
