The car held on for three more intersections before it finally ran out of power, forcing Phil to park along the curb. By that point, they had already reached the city’s outer buildings. The small shops with apartments on their upper floors had been replaced by blocky warehouses, and the traffic had dwindled to almost nothing. Few people came out this far.
