GALEN I stumbled through the Red Moon borders, my legs weak, my mind spinning. The night air was cold, but sweat dripped down my back. The guards at the post looked up sharply when they saw me. “Galen?” one of them barked. “Where the hell have you been?” I forced myself to limp a little, faking exhaustion. “I-I got lost chasing them,” I stammered, keeping my voice low and shaky. “I couldn’t find them… I tried, but they vanished.” The guards exchanged a look. One of them, Marcus, narrowed his eyes. “Eric’s been asking for you,” he said. “You better have a damn good explanation.” I swallowed hard. My heart slammed against my ribs so hard I thought it might c***k them. “Tell him I’ll report in now,” I whispered. They let me pass. Every step back into Red Moon Pack felt heavier.
