“Was it you? The guys who put a cloth over my nose. Did you send them?” Sarah finally gathered the courage to ask once he had finished eating.
After a thoughtful silence, he replied, “Yes.”

He said nothing in reply. Instead, he picked up the dishes, walked over to the sink and began washing them.
