Chapter 8: New!

1035 Words
When Callix arrived at the University from the police station, he immediately went straight to his class. Honestly, he wouldn't have returned to the room if he didn't have to maintain his high grades for the scholar and be able to continue his studies.   When he went inside, all his classmates are busy doing their own business. But one circle of friend catch his attention, they are talking about the night before Christian died saying that they see someone with suspicious look entering the boys dormitory.   Callix sighed, all his classmates know how to talk but when it is come to witness or interview about it they will cover their faces. He stretch his arms, he slept well on his bed for the first time, no more anxiety that his roommate will doing something bad to him while he asleep.   He just hopes that his next roommate will be good to him, because if his new roommate is like Christian too then his happiness is only for the short time.   “Okay class, please sit on the respectably chair and we will start to discuss the…..” Callix was there but he didn't want to listen what the professor was saying in front of them and writing on the board.   He looked at the hallway and saw Mr. Madrigal with a man, with the professor's actions; it is obvious that he is explaining while the man on his side just nodding his head. It is obvious that the new student is from the high class family to treat like that.   Because if the student is from lower class family, they will let you around roaming all day just to see what the place you are looking for, he still remember how the politely greeted by all the professor in Professor’s office but then when they knew he only scholar, they stop the warm welcome and good vibes.   He also had good friends but when Christian started targeting him, they gradually turned away from him and left him on the air soon after. Well, he is used to such kind of people because he is just poor and he has no fame or money to brag like others.   But because of that, he proved that he could be alone and without a friend to always be with and to be with. He has also seen many friendships that have broken up.   He turned to look at Tasha who was now with someone else and not her old friends, it had changed a lot compared to before as if she was submissive to Ericka. She used to be like the shadow of her old friend that wherever Ericka went she followed as if her friend would disappear or be taken away.   But now just like me, she is too tired to push and adjust herself to a place that is not really for her. Anyone can get tired, especially if no one appreciates the effort you put in to fit in and keep up with them.   “Okay, that all for today. Goodbye.” Callix just realized when his classmates got up that the class was over. He quickly arranged his notepad and books so that he could leave as well, he really wanted to lie down on his bed again and sleep. His body is still not used to being busy.   If only his Father had seen the laziness he was doing now he might have rebuked him immediately. He got up from his seat and left the classroom.   He started walking towards the dormitory, when he got there he immediately noticed that the door was no longer locked. The front doormat had changed the place.   He quickly turned the doorknob and his whole body went cold with shock to see that there is someone lay on Christian's former bed. He slowly walked closer to it and peered into his face.   He woke up and quickly sat up to see him and smiled, “hi! You must be my roommate no? Sorry if I went inside even if you still not here, Mr. Madrigal said it is okay that why. Oh, it is your bed?” He got up and fixes the bed again.   “No, this one here is mine so do not worry,” Callix said and smile.   Callix was happy to know that the person who will be him now for the next few more years now is good. He looks friendly.   “Oh, it’s good to know. By the way I am Garnet Joromo how about you what is your name?” The young man can’t hide his excitement talking with only he just met.   “Oh, my name is Callix, it is my pleasure to meet you, Garnet.” He smile and sat down on his bed.   He looked at the man's belongings that were already arranged and not even cluttered; he didn't know if he would be ashamed of his messy things! He clears his throat.   “Why did you transfer here?” He seriously asks. Well, he just doesn’t know what to ask and that is the first thing came to his mind.   "Well, we just really need to move here, my parents decided about it. If I were the only one to choose, I would never return to this country.” He bitterly said make Callix curious.   “Why, is there something wrong here?”   Garnet nod his head, “there are things I want to forget, I’m so hurt by it and this country reminds me of that.” He answers.   Callix didn't know what he should say or answer so he chose to keep quiet. He dropped his body horizontally on the bed and closed his eyes tightly.   Even he also has likes to forget events, but as long as he can’t leave school he can’t do that. All the events he wanted to forget happened at the school he was studying at. How is he going to do that?   “Are you tired, if yes I will cook now so you can take the meds again later.” Garnet suggested and walk to the kitchen.   Callix on the other side let himself. to doze off.
