Familiarity

*Yu Yan's POV

Today is the day I am moving in to our new apartment along with my two best friend Zhao Xiaotang and Xu Jiaqi. We all took this shared dorm like apartment so that we could live with each other, well we're neighbors and our parents have lived together ever since they were born making us three the best of friends and that also means we got so used living close to each other.

"Yu Yan!! Kiki and Xiaotang is here come down please." My mom called out from downstairs. I zip my luggage close and carry it down to the living room. The aroma of roasted coffee took over the place as I opened the door.

I walked in the dining area and saw the two idiots stuffing their faces with foods that was served at the table.

"Are your parents starving you?" I asked as I look at them in disgust. Literal pigs. Tch.

"Oh hush it Yan Zi let them be. Why don't you grab them something to drink." My Mom said making me huff.

"Wha-"

"I want orange juice!" Xiaotang exclaimed with her mouth full.

"Coke please!" Xu Jiaqi added making me grit my teeth at the sight of the two. They both smiled at me innocently making me roll my eyes at them.

"Yu Yan get them the drinks they might choke." My mom said pushing me out of the dining room.

"Wow Mom can't you distinguish who your real daughter is?" She just clicked her tongue and glared at me.

"Don't be shy eat up. You have a long way to go." I heard my mom said making me sigh in defeat.

Just so they wait and they'll both get what they're looking for.

I grab an orange juice and a bottle of coke from the fridge and a bottled water for myself as well. I handed them their drinks by throwing it at them gaining a slap from my own mother. I sat infront of the two and ate my breakfast.

My meals and their meals are always separated because this two hates vegetables but I do which gave me the perfect plan.

I held on two broccolis in my hand and stepped on their foot making them open their mouth wide enough for me to stuff the vegie in their mouth.

"WAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!" I laugh as the two choke in the food.

"Ew!!! Broccoli! Yu Yan that's disgusting!" Xiaotang whined trying to catch her breath. She drank her juice to replace the taste in her mouth.

"I sometimes regret reminding my mom to plant more of this in the garden." Kiki stated gaining a laugh from my mom who is recording the whole thing. I didn't ask her to do that she always record us every morning.

"Auntieee Yuuuu!!! Help meeee!!" Kiki whined running towards my Mom and dangling at her like a koala.

"I ain't going to be a part of this. I hate broccoli too." My Mom said in a very ghetto way. I just face palmed myself at their childish behaviour.

Am I the only adult in this house?

After breakfast we took a group photo with our parents. Its kind of a traditional thing we do taking photos of our milestones together and it's been a tradition in our family from generations to generations. Xu Jiaqi's family, My family, and Zhao Xiaotang's family are really close friends ever since the beginning and we've all became really good friends as well. Best of friends but more than that.

"Bye old people." I bid goodbye to my parents after letting go of the hug.

"Be careful out there sweetheart. Call me when you get there." My mom said holding her tears as my dad comforts her. I laugh at the sight of my dad who is as red as a tomato. I don't know why they're being like this. The university is just an hour away from here and their workplace is like 15min away from our dorm. I kept on laughing at my mom who keeps whining and slapping me for enjoying the saddest moment of her life. Well according to her.

"You're so mean Yu Yan." My Mom said as tears finally escape her eyes. I ruffled her hair and went to my car.

"Be good you two." I ordered gaining a very sad salute from the two.

Seeing Xu Jiaqi's Mom holding her tears and Kiki crying along with her makes me laugh more. Zhao Xiaotang and I probably thinks the same way since I can see her holding her laughter as her mom cry sadly.

"I will be like you someday Big sister." Xiaotang's little brother said giving her a hug. Gaining a chuckle and a teary eye from his older sister.

"Okay! Let's go p*****s or we'll be stuck in traffic." I called out entering the driver's seat.

I waved at our parents and drove out of the villa.

15min or so Zhao Xiaotang decided to break the silence and spoke.

"Do we really have to share a dorm with two more?" She asked from the passenger seat behind us.

"We should expand our community Xiaotang we've been stuck with each other our whole life. We're in college we need more people in our circle." Xu Jiaqi explained and I nodded in approval.

"Will we get along with them?" She asked again. I've been asking the same thing since yesterday. Will we even get along with other people if we grew up trying to push other people away to protect each other how can we undo that mindset and change?

"I am 100 percent sure we will. Don't worry no matter what happens we should promise to never leave each other and stick with each other when s**t goes down." Xu Jiaqi again answered perfectly to comfort our worried mind.

She's the person in charge in calming me and Xiaotang down. She is blessed with so much patience. All my life I've never seen her get mad at us only if we fool around she'll jokingly get angry but the real one? Neither me or Xiaotang ever want that to happened.

"I pinky promise to that" I said raising my pinky up and Kiki intertwined her pinky to mine.

"I pinky promise to that too" Xiaotang followed and locked her pinky to mine and Kiki's.

"Okay whoever breaks that gets her pinky hammered." I announced and laughed like an evil maniac.

"That's so brutal but I'll agree with it." Xiaotang said and laughed with me.

"I won't be paying your hospital bill after getting your pinkies hammered." Kiki joined in and laughed much more like a witch.

We let her laugh as we listen to how bitchy her laugh is.

"You done now?" I asked and she nodded with a sheepish smile.

"Play some music Yu Yan I really hate Kiki's evil laugh. She's like a moaning witch getting close." I laugh at Xiaotang's comment gaining a number of slap from Xu Jiaqi.

More than an hour of driving later due to this two idiots who keeps on stopping to some drive thru's and convenience store. We finally arrived at our dorm.

I got out of the car and stretched my back and arms. "Ahhh finally!!" The two took all our baggage out of the car and carried them to the gate of the apartment. They're in charge of bringing everything since I was the driver.

"Hurry up bitches." I ordered as they struggle on carrying some luggage. I pressed on the doorbell and heard footsteps from inside.

"Good Afternoon Madame we're the new tenants." I greeted and smiled at the Lady who opened the gate. She adjusted her glasses and a change of expression was visible.

"Oh yes. Come inside" I gladly entered and the two followed with all our luggage.

"This is your apartment. The passcode is changed frequently so you can ask your roommates for the code." She explained after pressing on the doorbell.

The door then swang open revealing a very white fair skinned lady with red hair and a doll like physic.

"Hi Grandma!! Is this our new roommates???" The girl asked cheerfully and the Landlady just nodded with a smile.

Her face glow up like a kid receiving candy.

"Hi! My name is Kong Xueer!" She greeted reaching her hand towards us with a bow.

Kiki who was standing behind me and Xiaotang earlier magically popped in front of us reaching for the girl's hand.

"My name is Xu Jiaqi. Nice to meet you." Poor girl.

"This is Yu Yan and Zhao Xiaotang." she added and smiled cheekily to the girl. The girl smiled at us and stared at her hand that is still being shaken by Kiki.

"Ahm. Xu Jiaqi you can let go of her hand now." Xiaotang said smiling awkwardly at Kong Xueer.

"Oh sorry. I'm just so excited meeting new people." Kiki apologized. Me and Xiaotang just laugh giving each other a knowing look.

"Okay. I will leave you four now. I'm going to go Zumba!" The Landlady said leaving us singing some beats.

I think I'm going to like it here.

"Take care Ms. Ella!" Kong Xueer yell out as the Landlady disappears from our view.

*Kiki Xu Jiaqi's POV

"Here we share everything and fairly devide the spaces to avoid arguements and misunderstandings." Kong Xueer explained as she walks us in the apartment. I don't know but I feel happy when I saw her and feels even more happy when she talks.

"This is the living room, that's the laundry room, over there is the bathroom. This room right here is for one person only. That room right there is mine I don't have a roommate yet so if eve-" I raise my hand as soon as she mentions she don't have a roommate cutting her off. I was then pushed to the side by none other than Xiaotang who just entered Kong Xueer's room.

"Xiaotang you bull!" I called out but she answered me by slamming the door close. I sigh in defeat and took a deep breath.

"Who's my roommate then?" I asked facing Kong Xueer who is just smiling at me cheerfully. Those smiles of her is now painted in my mind. A very expensive art I will never sell. Hihihihi

"Lu Keran is your roommate." I stood there frozen for a sec.

"Lu Keran!? K Lu!? The Team Captain of Ninecho U?!" I asked well partly a little bit exag but Woah! Lu Keran the red haired 3pointer. She's very famous and very cold hearted. I admire her so much she's basically the reason why I became a varsity player.

"Looks like someone's a fan." Kong Xueer said pulling me out of my thoughts.

"She's a saesang. Better keep Lu Keran away from that monster." Yu Yan said sitting at one of the stall in the kitchen counter.

"No worries. You'll be shock when you get to know Keke more." Kong Xueer said giggling like a little girl.

She's cute.

"Is she here?" I asked but Kong Xueer shook her head.

"She'll be back after their camp. She's been so busy nowadays with studies and sports plus she's been chosen to take part on some organisations, I feel bad for her she has too much responsibilities especially now that it's her last year." She explained sadly with a small pout.

"Well. That's what leaders do. The least we could do as her roommates is support her." Yu Yan said with a smile. Wow that came out of her mouth.

Why is she suddenly so gentle?

Upon hearing that I felt shivers climb up my body. Her smile is giving me the chills.

"What are you looking at?" She asked back to her normal self using that loud mouth of hers again. Nvm I thought she was someone else for a sec. Gentle Yu Yan is scary.

"True. I like you already." Kong Xueer said clinging to Yu Yan's arm. She let out a small chuckle to the girl's cuteness. Wait I want to be Yu Yan's arm.

Hmp.

I rolled my eyes when I saw Yu Yan smirking at me teasingly.

Tch. That witch.

*Zhao Xiaotang's POV

I just finished unpacking my stuff and organizing my study table. Well I had a little help from Kong Xueer when she saw me struggling.

"Okay! As a reward for helping me what do you want to eat?" I asked my roommate who is sitting on her bed.

"Hmmmm. . . How about pizza??" I gave her a thumbs up and pull my phone out of my pocket.

"All meat pleaseee and some chicken sticks!!" She added and I just chuckled at the sight of her. She looks so intimidating but the way she acts is far beyond her looks.

"I heard pizza!" The door suddenly swung open revealing Kiki who's facial expression looks like she just heard the most unbelievable news.

"You ordering?" Yu Yan then popped out behind Kiki and I just nodded.

"Order some vegetable salad with some corn."

"Already did, you vegie eating mamal." I said putting my phone down to my study table.

"So Kong Xueer what are you taking?" I asked grabbing another slice of pizza and staring directly at the girl next to me.

"I'm taking Fashion Designing and Cosmetology at the same time." She answered and took and big bite of the pizza. This girl sure can eat. I wonder where those foods goes. She's so skinny I envy her so much.

"What about you? You taking film or something? I saw your cameras." She asked and I let out a small laugh and shook my head.

"I'm taking Business Management and Arts." I simply answered gaining a small nod from the girl.

"Xu Jia-" she was cut off.

"I'm taking Finance and Arts. I'm a varsity player in basketball as well." Kiki exclaimed gaining a laugh from us three. She really can't act normal in front of a pretty girl can't she.

Kiki then opened this topic asking about Lu Keran again and once she had the answers she wanted she went back eating.

"And you?" Kong Xueer asked Yu Yan who is now at a daze. I snapped my fingers in front of her to get her attention.

"Wh-what?"

"What are you taking?" Kong Xueer repeated her question.

"Oh ahm. Political Science and Arts." She replied and went back on eating her salad. Tch. This ice queen.

"Are you all freshmen?" She asked and we nodded.

"Same!" She cheered. We all raised our cups and made a toast.

"Wait if you're a freshmen how long did you stay here to know Lu Keran that much?" Kiki asked. Did she just forget it'sa University. But her interest in both K Lu and Kong Xueer must be a battle in her heart and mind.

"Well I've been staying here for 2years now. I took my Senior years here. It has always been me and Keke who lived here, we had roommates but they all graduated." She explained and stuffed her mouth with a handfull of onion rings. Yu Yan has been slapping her hands off her food but Kong Xueer been stealing them from her when she's not looking.

"Seems like you two are getting along well." I said seeing how Yu Yan react when Kong Xueer successfully stole her onion rings.

After eating Kiki helped Kong Xueer wash the dishes while I clean up the table, as for Yu Yan she went out to throw the trash. We already know the routine of the house giving us all our own tasks. Kong Xueer explained everything while we eat. She also said there are other dormmates who just barge in here like it's theirs every now and then so she's giving us a heads up.

The doorbell was heard since I was the one done with cleaning I went to the door to see who it was.

"Hi!" She greeted and I gave her a smile.

"Who are you?" She asked and I was taken aback when she stepped inside and took off her shoes.

"I'm Zhao Xiaotang the new tenant. You are?" I asked in return.

"Yu Shuxin. I live in the opposite apartment. Nice to see you again." She reach her hand out and I shook it smiling back at her. She's pretty and cute.

"Kong Xueer!!" She exclaimed dramatically running towards Kong Xueer who was surprised at the girl's entrance.

"Yu Shuxin!" The opposite girl called and gave the smaller girl a hug. She's so bubbly and funny the way she talks and laugh is making my heart flatter.

"You're drooling." I felt a hand pushed my chin up and saw a grinning Yu Yan.

"Ew you just threw the trash." I whined pushing her off she just smirked whistling. I look at the girl again giving me that feeling of familiarity.

"Someone's got a crush." Kiki teased as she flops her body to the couch.

"Says the person trying to get Kong Xueer's attention since we got here." Yu Yan teased making me laugh remembering her awkwardness towards the red hair.

"At least we know how to feel this kind of things. Unlike you such a cold hearted person. Does that even beat?" Kiki said pointing towards Yu Yan's heart.

"Want yours to stop beating?" She asked grabbing the plant from the center table. Kiki's face showed the smallest hint of fear but she reciprocated.

"Naaah." She said sitting back relaxed giving a smirk to Yu Yan.

This two really.

"Ahm. Xiaotang nice to meet you again. Bye-bye" Yu Shuxin said waving at me a hint of sadness and hesitation drawn all over her face. I felt my cheeks heating up but I collected myself and waved back. Ignoring the fact that her expression says a lot.

"Bye-bye." I replied and watch her figure vanish from my sight.

Why am I feeling this towards her? It's weird.

"Doesn't she look familiar tho?" Kiki asked shifting my attention towards her.

"Yeah. I felt that same vibe earlier when I saw her in the hallway. She talked to me as if we've met and apologized for forgetting my name." Yu Yan added. That made me curious and intrigued at the same time.

"Could she be?" Kiki asked making me and Yu Yan look at each other as we pause remembering the ginger girl I met.

"Hey I've read a book about familiarity. It's something or someone left in the past that still holds on to it." Kong Xueer said making me furrow my eyebrow.

Still holds on to the past? Doesn't that make her feel like in a loop of sadness and loneliness. Not being able to move forward.

"Oh and she always mention something about the person who made her wait in some stupid tree every time she's drunk. I feel bad for her, she's still waiting tho it's been 5years." Kong Xueer continued as I, Yu Yan, and Kiki exchanged looks.

Something about that girl is making my heart feel this sudden familiarity of a certain person. But it can't be her.

But then again I'm having this hopeful feeling. It could be? People can change after 5years.
