Chapter 5I was at Victoria’s place by four, sitting at her dining room table. The place was fancy. She lived with two other people, both fine arts students, though she told me they were out for the night. I liked the implication of the smile on her lips. She had most likely sent them away because I was coming over for “dessert.” But that also sent me immediately into a panic, and when anxiety overtakes me, I often feel an overwhelming need to use the washroom. It was a Victorian-style house with polished wood everywhere. Art hung on every wall. Apparently, she had painted most of it.
