As soon as classes were done for that day, Sarah headed towards the front doors of the school to start her walk home. Clara couldn't give her a ride home because of her lunch date with Jacob after school. Not like she was bothered about it. She actually needed the walk because it was a stress reliever.
The walk from school to her house would take about twenty minutes, so she decided to listen to some music as she walked. She plugged her earphones to her phone and putting each bud to her ears, she hit on her playlist of Lewis Capaldi's songs.
A few minutes into her walk, she felt someone was watching her. Call it a hunch, but she could feel that someone was following her. She turned around to see if there was anyone behind her but there was no one suspicious, apart from an elderly lady who was trying to calm her son from throwing tantrums over her getting an ice cream for him, and they didn't fall under the group of suspicious people.
She looked to the other side of the road, where Mr. Hawkins was mowing his lawn, as his wife was sat on the couch outside sipping something from her cup and reading a book. Sarah waved a hand towards Mr. Hawkins who greeted her and asked her how her day at school was before she continued on with her walk.
Sarah was familiar with her town, and she usually takes this route back home from school whenever Clara or her mum weren't able to give her a ride home. But today, she had a strange feeling about it. Seeing that there was nothing suspicious around and thinking that she has been overly conscious due to the recent incidents, she continued with her walk and that was when she saw it or rather him.
He stood by the tree close to Mrs. Martha's house, watching as she greeted the neighbours in the street. He had been following her right from when she let the school compound and was watching over her.
Her stupid ass of a friend ditched her for a date with a guy, thereby making his precious jewel walk under the sun. He couldn't bear to see her like that and so, decided to watch over her from afar and ensure she gets home safe.
But, then she noticed him standing by the tree. He never knew that his most eyed possession was very observant and therefore gave her credit for it. But, she can never find out who he is not until it's time.
She took a step forward in other to see who the person was and at that moment, he moved away from his relaxed position on the tree. She was making her way towards him, and he couldn't wait to have his hands on her and feel those delicate curves that were hidden under those baggy t-shirts she always wears.
She was almost close to him but then there was a sound of a horn causing her to snap her attention from him and unto the entity that was emitting the sound. He was angry when he found out that it was the newbie. This guy is starting to piss me off, he grumbled to himself.
Seeing that his mission was already instructed by Adrian, he decided to leave. Till another time, treasure, he said to himself.
The sound of a horn coming from beside her, made Sarah to snap her attention from the tree and unto the road. Seeing the look of shock on Adrian's face in his sports car she realizes that she was no longer standing at the walkway anymore but in the middle of the road.
“Sarah, what in god's name are you doing? Are you trying to kill yourself?” He asked sounding concerned with a hint of annoyance in his voice.
Sarah was shocked at her actions, she looked back towards the tree but there was nobody there. Now she felt she was hysterical. The thoughts were beginning to take a toll on her, and she felt she was seeing things, but she would bet on anything that she actually did see someone there and call it stupid, but she felt the person smiled at her.
Not like people smiling at each other was bad, but people wearing masks in broad daylight and smiling to others, that was super weird.
“Hello, Sarah? Do you mind leaving the road now?” Adrian asked.
She mumbled a sorry as she moved back to the walkway while he parked the car at the side of the road. Adrian came down from his car and walked up to her.
“Are you okay?” He asked as soon as he got to her, of which she replied by giving a slight nod of her head.
He gave a sigh of relief before realizing that she was walking home alone. “Why aren't you going home with your friend?” He questioned.
“Um, she has a lunch date with Jacob, so she couldn't give me a ride. I decided to walk.”
“Okay,” he said, slowly nodding his head. “How about I drop you off at your house. That's if you don't mind” he said adding the last part quickly like he didn't want her to get the wrong idea.
“Sure, I don't mind.” She replied after a while. With what just happened, she didn't think she had it in her to walk back home again.
He opened the door of the car for her to get in. When he saw that she was seated, he made his way to the driver's side and got into the car accelerating towards her house.
She noticed how his muscles flexed when he held the steering and how fixed his eyes were on the road. She couldn't help but admire him. It felt like one of those Greek gods were seating right beside her. Right now, she felt like cupid shot her with one of his arrows because she couldn't explain her attraction towards him.
“Take a picture, it'll last you longer,” he said with his eyes still on the road. Damn, he knew she had been looking at him. She dropped her gaze from him to her thighs playing with the hem of her skirt while biting her bottom lips. She felt the car stopped and looked up to find Adrian's eyes on her and his gaze was on her lips. She felt the blush creep up her cheeks as she averted her gaze away from him and placed it back on her thighs.
He gave a low chuckle beside her, and when she turned to look at him, she found out that he had dimples. Lord, she went all jelly in her legs.
“Buttercup, I think you should' be coming down except you like keeping that seat warmed up for me,” he said while smirking at her.
“W-what?” she asked sounding confused. And then he made a gesture with his fingers at something behind her. She turned around to find out that they were right outside the front of her house.
She felt the blush creep up her cheeks the more. She had been so fixated on him that she didn't notice that he stopped the car because he had gotten to her destination.
“Thanks for the ride.” She said shyly as she Made a run for the stairs into her house while hearing him laugh behind her. His laughter was divine and it made her stomach swarm with butterflies.
She closed the front door and relaxed on it to calm her nerves. All she could think of was the tingling sensation that she has whenever she is close to Adrian.
“Sarah, honey is that you?” Her mom called out from the living room where she was watching the new episode of Grey's Anatomy.
“Yes, mom.” She replied while running up the stairs towards her room. Once she got to her room, she plumped down on the bed and her mind
became filled with thoughts of Adrian only.
The sound of her phone ringing brought her out of her little daydream as she got up from the bed to take her phone out from her backpack. She checked the caller ID and saw that it was Adrian calling her.
She answered on the third ring while trying to sound calm. “Hello” she spoke into the phone.
“Hey, Sarah.”
“Adrian, what's up?”
“So I know I just dropped you off at your house and I probably should have said this while I was with you but you ran away too quickly. Would you like to go out with me for dinner tomorrow?” he said in one breath.
Sarah couldn't believe her ears. Did Adrian just asked her out to dinner.
“Hello, Sarah. Are you still there?” The sound of his voice brought her out of her oblivion, and she said, “sure, no problem.”
“So it's a date then. Pick you up by five!” She heard him say. “Sure, see you at five.” She replied before he ended the call.
All her mind could process right at that moment was the word 'date'. She had a date with Adrian!
