He watched her as she entered the house for the party. She was putting on the dress he had placed in her wardrobe, and she looked remarkable in it. When he saw the dress at the mall, he knew it was the perfect one for her.
He saw how uncomfortable she was at the party and her best friend was trying to make her loosen up. But then, her friend left her to go downstairs and just when he was about to make his move towards her, the transfer student showed up. Adrian whispered something to her, and she blushed a deep red, making his blood boil with anger.
He despised anyone who comes close to her. She wasn't like the other girls in the school. She was calm, intelligent and didn't look down on others. She was the perfect one for him, and he would do whatever it takes to scare anyone from getting her before him.
He turned around and, typed a message on his phone, hitting the send button while watching from afar to see what her reaction would be when she gets it.
Fortunately, She turned pale immediately she viewed the message and fear was evident on her face. Now, that was refreshing and able to quench his anger a little.
There is nothing like seeing the fear present on the face of your prey. He mumbled to himself as he stepped out of the shadows and into the night, headed for his next target.
For now, Sarah McKenzie will have to wait, but, for how long.
***********
The sound of her phone ringing from beside her, pulled her out of her slumber. Sarah moved her hand towards her bedside table, looking for her phone until she finally grabs it. Thinking it was Clara calling about yesterday, she answered the phone without checking the screen to see the caller.
“Hello, Clara, it's still too early to call. You disturbed my peaceful sleep," she said into the phone with her eyelids half-closed.
“Really, It's nine in the morning already, and I bet most people are already awake by now," A male voice replied her.
The sound of a male voice over the phone made her shoot up from her bed into a sitting position. She brought the phone down from her ears to check the caller and Seeing it was a strange number she became very cautious.
“Who are you?” She questioned harshly.
“Slow down buttercup, its Adrian," The voice replied.
“Adrian? How did you get my number” she asked in shock.
“I've got my ways. Anyway, I called to check on how you're feeling after yesterday. Hope you're okay?” he asked.
“Y-yes I'm fine” she managed to say.
“Alright then, see you in school on Monday. Bye, buttercup,” He said before ending the call.
Sarah still held the phone to her ear after the line on the opposite side went off. She still couldn't believe that Adrian just called her. He just called to check up on her, and he even called her pet names. His voice sounded heavenly to her ears, and she was mesmerized by it.
The sound of her phone ringing again brought her out of her daydream about Adrian. She looked at the screen and saw that it was Clara calling. She answered on the second ring and had to draw the phone away from her ears when her friend shouted from the other side of the line, asking why she left the party yesterday without her.
“Good morning to you also,” she replied after her friend had finished ranting.
“What happened yesterday, Sarah?” She asked. “I searched all over the house for you but couldn't find you, you got me worried until Adrian told me he sent you home already because you weren't feeling too well. Hope you find?”
“I'm okay now. Just wasn't feeling the party anymore and I didn't want to spoil your fun with Jacob,” she said.
“Oh, Sarah, you know you're my best friend and you can call me anytime. Anyway, I'm glad you are okay," She replied calmly.
“So how did it go with you and Jacob?”
“We had fun all through the party, and he asked me out for lunch tomorrow. Can you believe that?'' She said while half screaming and giggling over the phone.
“Wow, Clara that's a huge step. Seems you are finally getting closer to your crush. I'm so happy for you, babe,"
“Yes, I know right. I'm so happy that I can't wait for tomorrow. By the way, seems new guy has got his eyes on you,” Clara said.
“Come on, Clara. It's not what you think. He was just helping me out.”
“You sure about that? Cause it doesn't look that way to me."
“Of course, I am. Why would you even ask that?”
“Why won't I! For starters, he took you home yesterday and was worried sick that he had to bother me to get your number.”
“He did that?” Sarah asked. “Of course he did! He is a nice guy, I see the way he looks at you in class and to crown it all, he's so hot.”
“Clara, I barely know him. Almost every guy in school looks hot to you. He is the new kid in school and you know Ashley got her eyes set on him already” she said with a sigh at the end.
“Doesn't matter, if you ask me. That b***h can't keep having all the hot guys in school.”
“Sarah, come help me get the groceries from the car.” her Mum called from the front door.
“Alright, mum. I'll be down in a minute.”
“Talk to you later, duty calls,” She told her friend as she ended the call and went downstairs to help her Mum.
