Family and friends of Matthew John McKenzie, we welcome you here today to celebrate the life so tragically taken from us all. May we have faith that he is safe in God’s hands, and while it may not be easy for some time for those he has left behind....   Sophia sat in the first row of the Church beside Matthew’s mother. Both their sobs tuning out the priests words as they grieved. Sophia crushed at the sudden loss of her fiancé, from planning their wedding last week to now sitting at his funeral. She remembered the night her world came crumbling down around her.  She was cooking dinner, waiting for Matthew to get home from work. He was taking a little longer than usual, but traffic can be bad on wet nights. She heard a knock at the door, thinking it unusual but nevertheless turning the stove off to answer the door.  “Sophia Moore?” A police officer stood outside her front door, a somber look on his face.  “Y..yes” she replied, panic running through her mind as she allowed the officer to step inside.  “Sophia, it’s Matthew. There was an accident. Another car hit his passenger side, sending his car into a pole. The impact.. I’m sorry. He’s gone.”  Sophia’s world came crushing down as she looked around the room at her wedding mood board, the invitations piled up ready to be sent. She couldn’t speak, couldn’t cry, couldn’t breath and her legs could no longer hold her up as she fell into the officers waiting arms.
