Finding Love Again

Chapter 5

It had been a couple of weeks, plenty of dates and tonight I was throwing a small birthday party for myself, I didn’t celebrate my 25th birthday last year. However this year I am in a completely different place in my life, so why not have some friends around. Sarah came over to help me clean up the house and prepare food. We went down the bottle shop and bought a couple slabs of beer and a couple slabs of vodka premix. Next we went over to the supermarket and stocked up on chips, lollies, dips and biscuits. When we got back to my house we moved the couches in my lounge out of the way to create an open area for a dance floor later, prepared a playlist, the two of us having a little dance already. We finished setting up by 5pm and weren’t expecting anyone to arrive until 6 at the very earliest. We started the fire pit outside so it would be ready to go later that night and I put in an advanced order with the pizza shop for a delivery around 7.30. Perfect! 

Finding Sarah in the bathroom finishing her make up, I quickly got ready myself. It was a casual party so I just wore jeans, my favourite heels and a cute top. My hair was up in a high pony, but wavy. I felt confident and happy! The happiest I’ve felt in a long time. I went to the fridge grabbing out 2 vodkas handing one to Sarah. 

“Might as well get started early!!” I giggled. 

Just then our favourite song came on, hold on by Wilson Phillips where we re-enact the scene from Bridesmaids. We sung and danced getting so into the song that we didn’t hear the front door opening and Tom and Cody entering the house. I turned, smiling, still singing.

Hold on for one more day“ smiling at Cody as I belted out the last line. He was holding a bunch of flowers just leaning against the wall smiling right back at me. As the song ended I walked over to him, he handed me flowers “Happy Birthday beautiful, I see you have already started the party!” Taking the flowers from him, thanking him with a quick kiss. “Would you like a drink? Beer?” I asked heading to the fridge to grab both boys a beer before putting the flowers in a vase. 

Over the next few hours a few more friends arrived, mostly old school friends and their partners. People who have known me for years, been through the ups and the downs of my lives. We sat around the fire pit in the yard, I was next to Cody and my friend Rachel on my other side, looking over to Tom and Sarah who couldn’t keep their hands or mouths off of each other. I smiled, glad my best friend was happy. 

“So, Sophia! You and Cody?” Rachel asked, snapping me out of my thoughts and pointing to the two of us wiggling her eyebrows. 

“Uhh.. well, like..” I stuttered out, unsure what to say and feeling myself blush. Cody, sensing my awkwardness answered for us. “We are just enjoying each other’s company, seeing where things lead”. How does he do that? Answer so confidently like that! 

“Uh huh. Well I think everyone here can see where it’s heading before you two can” Rachel said, winking at me.  Cody and I just looked at each other smiling. I had to break the moment, “I’m going to get another drink! Who wants one?”. Walking to the kitchen I found myself lost in thought about what we actually were. I like the guy. No doubts about that. I was scared though. Will people think I’ve moved on too fast? Does it matter what other people think? As long as I’m happy right?! Right... 

“Penny for your thoughts?” Cody interrupted me. 

“Oh! Hi! Um.. just thinking. About what Rachel said” 

“Don’t think about that now, let’s just have fun tonight. We can talk about it another time”

“Yeah. Yeah you’re right. Here” I handed him a beer. 

“Besides it’s cake time! You can make a wish, although I’m pretty sure your wishes have all come true already” he said winking and pointing at himself. 

“Hahaha! You are pretty sure of yourself aren’t you!” 

“Oi you two! Stop flirting by the fridge!! Cody get the cake out!” Sarah had torn herself away from Tom for 5 minutes. 

Everyone sung me happy birthday, I blew my candles out, eyes on Cody the whole time. Little did he know that he was right. He was all I wished for! The rest of the night was spent laughing, drinking and dancing. Everyone was enjoying themselves, me especially! Around 1am we had to turn the music down before my neighbours started calling the police and everyone started leaving except for Sarah, Tom and Cody. We cleaned up a little bit before giving up and collapsing on the couch. 

“I’m just going to make sure the fire is out properly” Cody said, heading outside. 

“And we are going to bed!” Sarah said dragging Tom away to my spare room. 

“Uh huh, bed. Sure!” I laughed as they left the room. 

Cody came back inside, locking the back door “all out. Where did they go?” 

“To bed. Umm, you are staying tonight right?” 

“If you’ll have me?” With that I grabbed his hand, turning the rest of the lights off and lead him to my room. As soon as I closed the door, Cody crashed his body against mine, pinning me against the door, his lips meeting mine. “Finally- I have you to myself”. We kissed each other passionately, I moved him backwards, heading to the bed, pushing him down. Taking my shoes off, I climbed on top of him, straddling his lap and took my top off. “Time for the rest of my birthday present?” I whispered in his ear. “You bet baby”. His hands exploring my body. I took his shirt off, feasting my eyes over his gorgeous body, crashing my lips against his again. I stood up, taking my jeans off and then lay back down on the bed. He came on top of me, as I lie there in just my bra and panties. “Oh god, your sexy” he began kissing my neck, down to my breasts, grabbing a handful and kissing the skin outside of my bra. Moving to my stomach he began kissing all over me as I arched my back to his touch. As he came back up I could feel his arousal in his jeans, only turning me on even more. I began to undo his jeans. “You sure?” He asked, knowing this was my first time since... “yes” I moaned into him. He helped get his jeans off, then reached around my back to unclasp my bra, letting my breasts fall free. He groaned as he looked down at my body, taking it all in. Reaching down to cup one breast in one hand and take the other in his mouth, gently nipping on my bud- only turning me on more. I took his hand and guided it down, Cody taking the hint and rubbing me above my panties at first before reaching in, feeling how wet I was and how turned on I was for him. He came back to me, placing himself between my legs. Rubbing his tip between my folds, then positioning himself at my entry, in he went. I gasped, not used the feeling of being so full. He slowly moved in and out as we gained our rhythm. I wrapped my legs around his body, allowing him deeper access and slowly he went harder and faster as we reached a peak together. Panting, he finished and rolled off of me. We lay together for a moment before, catching our breaths, both getting up to clean ourselves up. We came back to the bed, not bothering to get dressed, just lay under the covers in each other’s arms as we drifted off to sleep.
