CHAPTER 8- DATE ME

736 Words
Victoria stood outside Kelvin’s office door, fidgeting with the hem of her dress. His assistant had called her earlier with a calm, clipped tone: > “Mr. Kelvin wants to see you. Immediately.” Her stomach twisted the moment she stepped into the elevator. She hadn’t eaten since yesterday. She barely slept. And now she was going to face him. The man who held her like he owned her. The man whose eyes pierced through her at the store. And now, standing here... she wasn’t ready. She knocked. A deep voice replied: “Come in.” She stepped inside. The office was dark wood, smooth glass, and power. Kelvin stood by the tall window, his back turned, hands in his pockets. “Close the door.” She obeyed, quietly, the soft click echoing too loudly. He turned. God help her, he was handsome. Tall, in a black silk shirt with the first two buttons undone. His sleeves rolled up to his forearms, veins visible, watch glinting in the light. His eyes locked on her like he already knew all her secrets. “Victoria.” His voice was velvet and fire. “You didn’t eat.” She blinked. “W-What?” “I had your apartment watched. You skipped dinner.” Her eyes widened. “You… what?! That’s—” “Shh.” He moved toward her slowly. “Relax. I only asked because I care.” She backed up a step. He stopped. “Still scared of me?” She swallowed. “I don’t understand why I’m here.” “Oh, but I think you do.” He walked around her like a predator, then leaned on the edge of his desk, arms folded. “I’ve had many women, Victoria. But none of them haunt my dreams like you do.” Her heart skipped. He smiled faintly. “That night... at the hotel. You remember anything?” She stiffened. His gaze darkened. “You were wearing a red dress. The slit stopped at your hip. You moaned my name before I even touched you.” She turned scarlet. Kelvin stood now, moving in front of her, his eyes locked to hers. “It was you.” She froze. Breath caught in her throat. “I was the man you slept with that night, Victoria.” His hand brushed her cheek. “And you owe me.” She gasped. “No— I didn’t know— I-I’m so sorry! I… I can’t pay you back the way you’d expect. I don’t have money like that—” He tilted her chin. “I don’t want your money.” Tears brimmed in her eyes. “Then what do I give you? How do I make it up to you?” He looked at her for a long, burning second. Then, softly: “Date me.” She blinked. “Wh-What?” His eyes softened. “Be mine.” “I-I don’t—” “Say yes, Victoria.” He stepped closer. “Let me have you. Fully. Properly. This time, not by accident.” Her heart pounded so loud, she was sure he could hear it. --- Meanwhile, in a high-end lounge on the rooftop of a city hotel, Stella twirled her wine glass, her sharp eyes scanning a file on her tablet. “Who is that man that saved her?” she muttered. Across from her, Caleb laughed bitterly, nursing a drink. “Typical. Prince Charming in a suit.” “She should have hit the floor and cracked her skull,” Stella thought “Instead, she lands in his arms like a damn princess.” “i don't think I know who he is” Caleb lit a cigarette. “He looks untouchable and dangerous. Now he’s looking at that girl like she’s gold.” Stella’s eyes glinted. “Then let’s make her rust.” Caleb looked at her. “You planning something?. Don't think of anything funny babe. You are pregnant" She leaned in, her red lips curling into a dark smile. “If she thinks he likes her, then she’s mistaken.” “What are you going to do?” “I’m going to destroy her... publicly. This little fairy tale? I’ll burn it down.” "Babe don't worry I won't do anything" Caleb raised his glass. "Better! because that man seems dangerous" “ I don't care” Stella whispered, eyes gleaming like a viper.
