Chapter 2-The date

We walk in to the theatre and get our tickets for girls just want to have fun. I hear Ben say to the boy- who I learned is Aaron- “she is cute, but really man, this movie?”

“you owe me remember? Besides that Jessica girl is cute too”

Ben looks Jessica up and down "She is, but there are a lot of cute girls in houston." He empathizes in houston.

The two boys walk just out of ear shot from us, it looks like they are having an argument.

A few moments later the boys return.

"We got you some snacks, we weren't sure which you liked."

They hold out two dr. Peppers, and two candy bars.

"We got some popcorn as well" they show to the two buckets underneath their arms.

"Thankyou" me and jessica each take our dr pepper and candy bar.

"Ya'll ready to go watch this movie or what?" Ben shows to the door

We walked in and found our seats.

Aaron sat next to me, and Ben sat next to Jessica. I didn't really like this Ben guy, Jessica seems to like him, but again, Jessica seems to like any bad boy trouble maker she lays her eyes on. I don't really know Aaron yet, but he seems better than Ben and the rest of the boys from the icecream parlor, I could never understand why people would be friends with people so much different than them.

The movie started and Aaron shared his popcorn with me. Ben and Jessica didn't actually watch the movie, they were constantly whispering to each other and giggling.

"I swear I will not come watch this movie again" I whisper to myself, but Aaron heard me.

I completely forgot I was suppose to be on a date as well.

"Seems like those two are getting along atleast" Aaron whispers back to me.

We sit in silence and I watch the movie but I can feel Aaron's eyes on me.

"What?" I turn around in my seat and ask him.

"Nothing, you are just really pretty and I can't believe I am on a date with you."

"Not really a date" is say.

"What would you consider a proper date then? "

A date without my cousin sitting next to me being all disgusting with a guy she just met I thought to myself

"I don't know" I finally reply.

"Okay so let's get out of here then" Aaron smirks

I let out a little giggle

"Wait, are you serious?"

"You thought I was joking?"

He really is crazy, but It is way better than watching these two beside me.

I get up, he takes my hand and we leave.

"I can't believe we're doing this." I fear for what my parents would do or say when they find out about this, me and Jessica were suppose to stay together.

"Why? You're not still in highschool or anything are you? "

"No, it's just.."

"It's just what?"

"It's just my parents, they are really protective of me, and me and Jessica was supposed to stay together."

"We can go back if you want?"

"No, please no, I can't go through that again"

Aaron laughs "thank goodness, because I can't either"

We walked into a park and sat on a bench near a pond.

" This is my favorite spot in the whole world, so concider yourself special" we smirks again as he looks at me.

"In the whole world? That can't be" I laugh

"It is"

"Why though?"

"My mum used to bring me here everyday after school, until she passed away."

"I'm so sorry"

"Yeah well, it was a long time ago, so anyway, you in college, of your parents doesn't allow that either" he teases

"My parents aren't that bad, I mean I get why they are protective and everything, and to answer your question, yes I got accepted into harvard."

"Wow, so you're like a nerd or what?"

"No!"

"Okay okay I'm done, so whats the deal with your parents then?"

"It's a long story."

"You do know we have time right? Or is it something you just don't want to talk about?"

"Second one" I lie, but the truth is, I do want to talk about it, but everybody who knows, treats me like I'm not me anymore, like I'm this fragile little girl who is going to fall and break at any moment, and I'm not.

"I get it, we all have chapters we would like to bury" he puts his hand on mine and squeezes it.

"I will tell you, someday." I say.

Jessica and ben came walking to the bench

"Here you are, we need to go, my dad will be here soon"

We get up and walk to the mall,

"told them it's best if we wait alone for my dad?"

"Sure" I look up at Aaron

Ben gives Jessica a kiss

And I say goodbye to Aaron

Aaron started to walk away, but he turned around and came back.

"Is it okay if I..?" He asks

"Yeah" I say

he gives me a hug and a kiss on my cheeck, he opens my hand and puts a small paper with something written on it in my hand and folds it close

I was still looking at Aaron when we heard the hooter from Jessica's dad's truck.

We walked to the truck and got in.

"Who is the boy?" My father asked

"Nobody" I say

"Good, so you'll not see him again?"

I keep quiet and stare out of the window.

For the first time in a long time I had fun, I felt like me again, but what did I expect from my father.

"Emma?"

"Yes daddy" I answer

We drive home in silence, my mind racing with thoughts of the night, it felt like a dream, I smile and touch my cheeck where he had kissed me. Who knew this summer would be so different.
