Chapter Twelve

903 Words
As Julian & I walked in the restaurant, it took my breath away. Everywhere I turned I saw gold, and not the fake stuff. Chandeliers, people dressed up, and music being played by an orchestra.  "Oh Julian, are you sure wanna eat here? It looks really expensive." "Well if this place is expensive, then we're definitely staying" After about two minutes of standing there, a man approached us wearing an all black suit with slicked back hair. "Hello. Welcome to Franco's. How many in your party?" he asked with a smile. "Just us two." Julian said smiling at me. " Okay. Come with me" The waiter said while he picked up two menus. As we walked to the table, I was so focused on looking around at the gorgeous building, I didn't even realize Julian was holding my hand leading me to our table. I know it might have been kinda wrong, but I liked it. So I tightened my grip a little, and continued to walk. When we got to our table, and took our seats, the waiter handed us the menus he had under his arm. "I'll give you some time to order, but I will start you guys with some drinks. What will it be?" the waiter asked looking at Julian. "I will have a glass of champagne. " Julian replied while looking at the menu. "Okay. And for you mam?" "A glass of white wine would be nice" I said giving him a smile. "You got it. I'll be back with your drinks in just a couple minutes." the waiter replied just before he walked away. "Julian this place is really nice. I've been living in New York for over 10 years, and I've never been to or even heard of this place." "That's because you're dealing with a man who does nothing for you." he replied with a serious look on his face. I couldn't do anything but look down at my menu. "So how is your case coming along?" he asked looking back up.  "It's going pretty good. Still have a lot of work to do" "You know I majored in prelaw when I was in college. Maybe I could give you some pointers." he said while giving me a smile. "Maybe." I replied smiling back at him. As I continued to order, I could feel him staring at me. It had been two minutes until finally I looked back up and he was still staring.  "What?" I asked giving him a big smile. "I- I just can't believe you're with someone like Shawn. I mean look at you Leah. You're gorgeous." Trying not to blush I responded. "Is that the only reason you are attracted to me Julian? Because you think I'm gorgeous?" "No of course not. Absolutely not. There are tons of things I like about you Leah." "Well what are they?" "Well, you're intelligent. I know that by your great work ethic. You're hilarious. You can make anything funny. Almost everything that comes out of your mouth is funny." we both chuckled, but for some reason I thought that was really funny. "And that smile. Leah when you smile, it makes me feel like I'm doing something right. Even though I'm not your significant other, I still love to put a smile on your face. You're amazing Leah Phillips. You deserve better. And I plan to give it to you." he said while pulling my hand towards his and holding it. I said nothing. Once again, he had taken my breath away. I couldn't even speak. "I'm sorry, I'm talking to much aren't I?" he said looking embarrassed. " No, no, that was- that was very beautiful and breath taking. No one has ever said anything to me like that before. It just caught me off guard."  "Well that's what I want to do. Take you breath away. In every way possible." he replied caressing my hand. I could feel my body shaking. After all of that our food had finally came, and we ate while we talked about everything on the planet. It was 2:45, and I needed to be back at my office at 3:00. But by the time I realized that, Julian asked me was I ready to leave.  As we drove down the road, it was silent. After about 5 minutes, I glanced at Julian and his eyes were straight forward looking at the road. He must've seen me looking at him because when I began to look out my window, he grabbed my hand and gave it a kiss. He continued to hold it until we got to my office. " Thank you for everything Julian. I had a really good time." "You're very welcome Leah." We just stood there and looked at each other. All of a sudden, Julian leaned in and kissed me. It felt like fireworks were everywhere. It lasted about 15 seconds, but I have to say that was the best 15 seconds of my entire life.  "Thanks again." I said as I began to walk off. "Will I see you again?" Julian asked. "Of course. We are neighbors remember?" I said giving him a smile. He chuckled and began walking around to his car. "Well I'll see you at home." he said. "See you at home." I replied. I turned around and began walking to my office, then I heard his car pull off.
