Chapter 4

In an instant, Seraphina grabbed me by my neck and I struggled to breathe

“You b***h! Who do you think you are? I'll show you your place and just how insignificant you really are”

Before I could get out of her grasp, Her hand connected with my face, pushing me to the ground.

“That's where you belong, at my feet” She growled.

She was about to strike me again when a voice thundered from behind me.

“That's enough!”

I turned around to see Alpha Ivan approaching us.

“A-Alpha… she was being rude to me—”

“I asked you to show her to her room and as the oldest I expect you to carry yourself with more dignity, Sera”

“I'm sorry…”

“Leave us”

Seraphina tossed me one last disdainful look before she left.

“And you, I warned you not to make any trouble. You live by my rules now”

He looked down at me and scoffed.

“Get up. You look pitiful”

I quickly rose to my feet, feeling embarrassed.

Is this what I'd be subjecting myself to? A loveless marriage and constant bullying? It was no different from my past life. I couldn't afford to keep being weak. Not if I wanted to have my revenge against Darren and Lydia.

“It was your beloved Mistress who had her paws on me. Maybe you should be more worried about taming her” I replied back, meeting his gaze head on.

Ivan pushed me up against the wall and slammed his fist by my head.

“You are no longer in the Western pack. I am Alpha of the Northern pack and you will be obedient, or I will make you. Make no mistake, you are mine now to do as I please”

His eyes were furious and his words made me feel a mix of emotions—fear, regret and a strange sense of satisfaction.

Did I like challenging him like this?

“Okay, Alpha” I replied icily.

He didn't back away immediately, for the shortest second, I saw his eyes move down to my lips before he finally moved.

“Come. I'll show you to your chamber”

I followed mutely as Ivan led me through the massive hallways and we stopped in the east wing outside a large door.

“This will be your accommodation. You're not allowed to leave the castle without my permission. Is that clear?”

“Yes, Alpha”

“Good. The maids will let you know whenever it's time to eat and you will be punctual” With that, he turned his back and walked away.

I quickly entered the room, my mind reeling. I first collapsed on the bed. Over the course of our journey to Ivan's Castle, I'd come to terms with the fact that I'd been reborn for a second chance. I didn't yet know how I would make good use of this blessing by the Goddess yet.

I got up and walked towards a mirror, inspecting my new features. My right cheek was a bit reddened from Seraphina’s slap.

Winning over Ivan's mistresses was important in this game of power but I'd already made an enemy with one of them.

I went to sleep that night feeling renewed with purpose.

But my sleep didn't last long. I still wasn't accustomed to my body and location changes. I woke up in the middle of the night, feeling parched. I looked around the room but there was no water.

I sighed, as I got out of bed. My only hope was finding the kitchen.

I walked down the quiet hallway till I started to hear some strange noises. I followed the sounds and the closer I got, the more familiar they sounded.

Without thinking, I pushed the door open and I was met with a scene I knew all too well. She lay naked on the bed with him on top of her thrusting in and out as she held back cries of pleasure.

“Oh yes, Alpha…”

I froze.

The scene replayed in my head constantly, except it wasn't Darren and my sister, it was Ivan and Seraphina.

Alpha Ivan picked up my scent and his head whipped in my direction, Seraphina followed suit and I fled without a word.

What was I thinking walking in on them having s*x like that? I tried to find my way back to my room when all of a sudden I was forced back onto a wall.

“Argh” I groaned.

My eyes adjusted to the darkness as I came face to face with Ivan. He was now covered with a robe.

“What were you doing out of your room this late?”

“I was just… I wanted to get some water”

“Is that so?” His voice dropped to a whisper, as his breath fanned my neck, erupting chills through my body. “Whatever plan you've got, don't try it. I'll be watching you”

I felt his hand wrap around my waist and I gulped.

“Why do you think I have some heinous plan up my sleeve?” I turned away from him as his face came closer to my neck.

“I know you, Alyria. This act of yours doesn't deceive me so you can start acting like your true self” He spat out.

It was too early for him to realise the truth about me, I needed to convince him I was the real Alyria. But I still didn't know anything about her.

But I had a feeling the old Alyria wouldn't be so easily intimidated.

I turned to face him, our eyes locked on eachother.

“I'm not playing any games. Maybe it's all in your head…” I trailed my fingers up his body “Or maybe you're obsessed with me and you won't admit it”

My words seemed to catch him off guard and I took the opportunity to slip away.

“Goodnight, Alpha Ivan. I believe you have a woman waiting for you in bed”

I quickly walked away before he could respond. I hoped that would be enough to sway his doubts for the meantime.

I woke up the next morning, realising I'd overslept and it was almost noon. I quickly got up and prepared for the day, I still had a chance at winning over Ivan's two other mistresses. I needed to act fast before Seraphina turned them against me.

By the time I managed to find my way downstairs, I noticed there was a commotion going on in the Alpha's study. I walked in and before I could ask any questions, Seraphina turned on me.

“There she is!”

“What's going on?” I looked around me, There were a few guards also. Elaine, Ivan's third mistress stood off in a corner. She locked eyes with me when I first entered, it was brief but I sensed the sympathy coming from her.

“You've only spent a day here but your already up to no good”

“I don't understand what's going on?”

“You stole the Alpha's important documents!”

“What?!”

“Seraphina, that's enough,” Ivan said firmly, before he turned to me. “Alyria, some important files have gone missing and Seraphina believes you're the only possible suspect”

“I didn't take anything!”

“Did you take them to give your father's pack some kind of advantage? Did they send you here to spy on me?” Alpha Ivan questioned.

“No, no. You have to believe me, I didn't do anything”

Just then, Vanessa walked in.

“Well, there's only one way to find out, we should search her chambers” Seraphina said

I looked at Ivan, a part of me expecting him to forbid my room being searched but instead, he gave a curt nod.

“Let's go” He said as everyone left the office.

Seraphina grabbed me by my arm as I walked past, then she whispered.

“I told you I'd show you your place. You'd better start packing Alyria. This is your last day here”
