Chapter 11: The Accident

"I miss you babe." Julianna said through the phone.

"I miss you too princess." Riley replied, "Where are you?"

"I'm uh... I'm... At a pet shop." The younger one stuttered.

"Sorry for interrupting your phone call but did you ask for pink or red roses?" Riley hear a female voice ask Julianna.

"Red ones." Julianna replied, trying to cover the speaker so Riley can't hear, "Thanks."

"So... The pet shop huh?" Riley smirks, "I didn't know the pet shop sells roses." She teased laughing lightly.

"Alright, you caught me." Julianna sighed, "I'm at a flower shop. Damn, I can never keep a secret from you." The brown eyed girl whined.

"You're so cute." Riley cooed with a sweet voice, "I guess you're at the one near our house."

"Yup." Julianna replied popping the 'p', "I'll be home soon baby. I love you."

"I love you too Jules. See you." Riley answered, plopping herself down on the couch beside the other girls in the living room.

"See ya." With that, Julianna hung up the phone, with a smile tugging at the side of her lips, knowing that she'll be seeing her favourite girl soon. That was until, all she could feel is pain everywhere.

"Why isn't Ju back home yet?" Tahani asked, "She told me her dance class ends at 4."

"She went to the florist to get me roses." Riley answered with a grin, "And she tried to lie that she's in a pet shop, but she got busted anyway."

Aww's and ah's can be heard from the rest of the girls, each smiling at how romantic Julianna is. The phone rang and thinking that it was Julianna, she jumped and ran to the it.

"Hello?" Riley spoke once she picked up the phone.

"Good evening, this is nurse Jennifer from Grace Hospital. Julianna Martinez has been admitted into the hospital a few minutes ago, she was involved in a car accident." The voice said over the phone, "Are you a family member of hers?"

"I'm her girlfriend!" Riley exclaimed, gaining the attention from Skylar, Normally and Tahani.

"What's wrong Ri?" Skylar asked concerned, "What happened to Julianna?"

"She was in a car accident." Riley replied and soon, the nurse on the line spoke again, "I'm sorry to inform you that she is injured pretty badly and needs a surgery. We need someone to come down to the hospital as soon as possible to sign the -"

"We'll be right there." Riley replied quickly, cutting the nurse off, "We've got to go right now." Riley said hurriedly, packing all the necessary things and rushing down to the hospital in the car.

"Why isn't she out of the f*****g surgery room yet?!" Riley growled, banging her fist against the wall, "It's been six f*****g hours."

"Come down Ri, the doctor said that they needed as least right hours." Skylar consoled, patting Riley's back.

"It's not your girlfriend who's inside right now!" Riley screamed in Skylar's face, making the shorter girl stumble back in shock.

Charlie rushed forward to hold her girlfriend protectively, "Riley, keep your volume down will you? I know you're worried but we are too okay?"

Riley's eyes soften once she realized what she had done, tears rolling down her face, "I'm so sorry Skylar. I didn't mean to."

"It's okay Ri, I understand." Skylar nodded, "Maybe Tahani can bring you to the cafeteria to get some food or maybe a drink?"

"It's okay, I want to be here when Julianna comes out of surgery."

"She'll be sleeping Riley, I'll go get you once she's out okay? Then you'll be here when she wakes up." Skylar suggested.

"Okay." The teary green eyed agreed softly.

"Tahani." Skylar said and looked towards Riley.

The tallest girl nods and pulls Riley into her side, walking them to the cafeteria.

"What do you wanna eat?" Tahani asked.

"I'm good with anything small." Riley replied.

"Alright, be right back." Tahani said walking towards the queue.

"Don't swing too high Jules! I don't want you to fall and break something." Riley warned.

"Okay!" Julianna squealed in delight when she sat on the swing, "Come and push me Rye!"

"Coming!" Riley replied and ran over, "Ah!"

"Oh my god Rye, are you okay?"

"I think I broke something." Riley sniffled, "I can't move my hand, it hurts."

"Wait here, I'll go get Mami." Julianna said running towards the house, as fast as her little legs an carry her.

Riley chuckled at the memory, shaking her head. She remembered the last time she broke her hand and needed to be hospitalized, Julianna was so afraid that she would die, even though she explained that it's nothing serious. Julianna stayed by her side throughout the week she was in the hospital, throwing tantrums when her parents asked her kindly to go home.

"Ri?"

"Hmm?"

"Here's your food." Tahani said pushing the tray over to Riley.

"Thanks T." Riley smiled the best that she could.

"Can I ask you something?" Tahani questioned.

"What is it?" Riley answered with a mouth full of sandwich.

"Will you ever consider dating again if anything happens to Julianna? I don't mean to curse her or anything, I'm just curious."

"I don't know. Honestly, no one can replace Julianna's spot in my heart."

"I like you Riley." Tahani blurted out, "I'm so sorry, but I really needed to tell you this."

Riley stared at Tahani in shock, clearing her throat once she managed to process the information, "Uh I thought that you're dating Siope?"

"I broke up with him a few days ago," Tahani explained, "After I... I..."

"Discovered feelings for me." Riley replied in a soft tone.

"Y..yeah."

"T..Tahani, Riley." Skylar sobbed uncontrollably, "J..Julianna didn't m..make it."

Riley's POV

Maybe fate wanted it to be like this or it's just God wanting us to have our own beautiful tragic love story. Or maybe, just maybe; that we don't have a happy ending at the end of our story.

I had a billion questions running in my head when I heard the news, but I didn't have any answers. All I knew that you're high up in the sky now Julianna, you're now an angel looking down at us. I was always scared of death, but all I wanted at that moment is to be up there with you. Because you're up in the heavens and you're never coming back down onto the hells of earth again Jules. That thought broke me more than anything else ever will.

I don't think I deserved you Jules, I never did. But you always told me you wanted me, that you love me and that I'm everything to you. Those are the words that kept me hanging on and I thank you for it Julianna.

I remember kissing you for the first time, I ran away right after. I was scared and I was angry at myself for it. And the the first time I get to call you mine, it was the best feeling in the world ever, knowing that we'll get to fight through our ups and downs together.

When we entered X-Talent together with the girls, I thought that my life couldn't get any better, that was until Colin broke us up. But we got through that too didn't we?

I fell into a depression soon after and was hospitalized for it. You stayed by my side and talked to me, trying to get me to open up and I never did until that night when we kissed, you fixed me Julianna. You saved me. And I know that will never ever happen again.

I miss your voice, you kiss, your touch, your eyes, I miss everything about you. But all these things are nothing now but memories etched to my mind and heart.
