Chapter Fourteen “You look wonderful,” Marina says to me over my shoulder as the make-up artist adds the finishing touches. “You’re pretty much all set. How do you feel?” I look at myself in the mirror, unsure who is staring back at me. My hair is swept up in a pretty bun with loose hair framing my face. My makeup is soft, matching the gentle pink hues of my dress. I have a diamond bracelet around my wrist that costs more than my apartment. My head feels light for a second as I take it in. “Wow.” Marina smiles the first true smile I have ever seen and nods, looking down at her iPad. “You have about ten minutes before we are going to usher you back out the hotel to the limo, okay?” “I’m nervous,” I blurt out, although I don’t know why I am telling her this.
