015: The Five Parables ✨✨

Chapter Fifteen

The smiles on their faces felt a lot more genuine when they could kick their legs free with no restrictions. Their eyes glistened and the smile was brighter as well, They laid on the beds that had been assigned to them with their eyes staring to the ceiling, it was quiet and cold but it was perfect and way more better than the cold cart that they had been lying on for a week.

‘’This is nice’’, Marceline who slept on the extreme end of the bed said, Her smile was brighter and she could hear the soft rhythmic sound of Giselle’s heart beat close to her, ‘’Yeah when you are free’’, Delphine hissed out from her position, She laid in the Centre with Giselle on her left and Renee latched on her on the right, Odette chuckled, ‘’She is clingy, i apologise’’. Delphine glanced at Renee who smirked and hugged her more tightly, ‘’Whatever’’, She said rolling her eyes to sleep.

The room got quiet after a while, Delphine had managed to get some sleep as well and her breath had become rhythmic too, Marceline tried to sleep as well, but the nightmares she had been having plagued her mind and she wished not to have them again. She decided to keep herself as awake for as long as possible at least until the sun rose to the sky.

‘’I take it you are still awake?’’. Odette asked from her own end.

‘’Yeah, a lot on my mind’’. Marceline said subconsciously like a rehearsed answer even though there was actually a lot on her mind.

‘’I wish to pry, may i?’’. Odette said,

Marceline pondered on it a bit before answering, ‘’Yeah sure’’.

‘’Did you not feel bad, your memory could be erased, your family would forget you, i love my sister a lot but that would hurt Marceline. You are either really kind and brave, or stupid enough to not understand the question’’. Marceline looked at the ceiling all the while Odette spoke, She did not blink nor did she pry her eyes away, She just silently listened.

‘’Was i scared?,’ She asked herself although she knew Odette could hear her as she spoke, ‘’Yes i was, but if i am ever given a chance to do it again i would a thousand times’’.

Marceline loved her parents, If sacrificing herself meant her parents would cease to not be slaves and would be comfortable with a daughter that listened to them then yes, She wished to do it, a million times even.

Odette turned away from them all, to her right side and she mumbled, ‘’I take that back, You are stupidly brave,........ And i admire that’’.

That brought a smile to Marceline’s face, She also turned away to her left and placed her hands under her head and closed her eyes, ‘’Thanks for the peptalk Odette’’. She said before closing her eyes and drifting away. The last thing she heard was Odette saying to her ‘’You too’’.

Flashback/.........

Marceline did not get far, her mind had not comprehended her current situation fast enough and once she turned around to run she realized her leg space was only a feet apart when she fell to the floor with a loud thud. The guards had helped her up and had taken her back to the King whom she now stood in from of.

‘’Brave’’, He commented laughing, ‘’However not a fast thinker’’. Marceline fell to the ground and begged, ‘’I apologies Alpha Gonzalo !’’. Alpha Gonzalo signaled for the guards to get her up again.

‘’It is okay you can head back to the line’’. Marceline bowed once more before finding her way back to the line.

Alpha Gonzalo looked at all of them one more time before speaking, ‘’I have never believed that Werewolves and humans were that much different and today you five have proved me right yet again, I was curious to see who these five girls were and i was not disappointed after all. Have you heard of The gifted?’’. Gonzalo threw the question to everyone, Marceline being well versed on the topic decided to give herself a little push and raise her hand like a student. He nodded at her, not really telling her to speak or remain silent so she spoke.

‘’A gifted is someone given a power, usually gifted persons are werewolves from the upper class although in very extremely rare occasions a human can be a gifted, though it is quiet unlikely’’. Marceline bit her lips to stop herself from talking more and the king and queen only chuckled at that.

‘’I am a gifted, i have the ability to tell a person’s character and sometimes their future from physical contact or answers to parables’’. It had not clicked earlier though from looking at the faces of the other girls she knew she was the only person who did not know, That must be the reason why they could answer the questions, they had seen it coming.

‘’Giselle’’, Gonzalo called out to her, and giselle bowed immediately, ‘’You have been blessed with luck and things would be easy for the most part, I know you aren’t so clever and that question was rehearsed, it proves how much luck plays in your life’’. Giselle bit her lips and unintentionally dropped her shoulders, she refused making eye contact with the king, but from the corner of her lips there was a soft smile.

‘’Delphine, You are wise and confident, a woman of valor and of great pride, you stand in the middle of bad and good, but wherever you go you shall be great and tragic.’’ Delphine’s reaction was calm, her face gave nothing away and neither did her body.

‘’Renee’’, Renee giggled loudly as her name was called, ‘’A kind hearted beauty with an-‘’, The king Glanced at Odette who shook her head no, The king sighed, ‘’Your ray of light will shine to the end’’.

‘’Thank You Alpha Gonzalo’’.

‘’Odette’’, Odette bowed to the king. He tilted his head in her direction as well, ‘’A fast thinker, and problem solver, You would be the support when the great queen arises’’. Odette drew in a sharp breath as the kings eyes moved on to Marceline.

‘’Marceline’’, Marceline bowed low, ‘’Your majesty’’. He smiled , ‘’A risk taker and one who would do anything for the ones they love, i see great things, unimaginably great things’.

The kings prediction left an awfully bittersweet taste in the mouth of everyone, For one Marceline wanted to know why his eyes were so sad when he spoke about her and Renee.
