Alli tried to close the bedroom door as quickly and quietly as she could.
She had decided that she would try her luck upstairs. She was closer to this staircase and was hopeful that she would find someone in the room with light coming out of the open doorway.
As soon as the door shut she ran.
She hurried up the staircase silently cursing how many steps there were. Her legs burned and her chest heaved as she ran out of breath. She kept her eyes straight ahead. She had no doubt that Jason was likely right behind her at this point. He was so fast, she couldn’t afford to waste a second.
She made it to the top of the stairs and literally ran for her life.
