Eli groaned as the alarm went off. Alli felt terrible. She had one of her horrible nightmares again, waking up Eli in the process. He had been so patient with her since they got home yesterday, while she was a blubbering mess causing him to lose sleep. She woke up feeling defeated, like nothing was going to go right. But she knew that attitude wouldn’t be helpful.
“I’ll make us some coffee before we hit the road.” She crawled out of bed, turning on a light in the dark room. It was only 5am and they needed to move quickly, so they made it to the palace in time for dinner and a short briefing of tomorrow’s proceedings.
“Thanks Alli.”
They silently dressed and gathered their bags for the long trip ahead of them. Alli was happy to see that he had already packed most of her things for he
